Beautifully designed & made by @purlberryknits they’re hand cut from pine & covered in chunky hand knitted Australian merino wool with gorgeous little felted ears. Purchased online, they arrived today beautifully packaged. Have had a lovely time finding the best spot for our guests to enjoy them here in our farmstay accommodation. What do you think?... It’s one of those places that if you had the chance to sneak away and experience ... once you arrived you just won’t want to go anywhere. And the best part, if you grab a Birch feast or selection of ready-made meals on your way, you won’t need to. Birch’s feasts mostly only require a microwave to prepare, many of the sides and ready-made meals require no cooking at all or simply reheating, and let’s not forget the sought after cheese and wine packs. And if it’s a spur of the moment visit, then simply swing past @birch_store and load up on a whole range of local produce, ready-to-enjoy options and more. Birch Restaurant // takeaway orders open every Sunday night, orders are due by 10am Thursday and you can collect your order between thursday and Saturday each week. As part of our current collaboration with BIRCH we’re adding their yummy housemade @birch_store granola to the DIY breakfast goodies we provide to our BIRCH guests (along with yoghurt, berries, fruit, bread, tea & Nespresso). Some lovely spots on the farm, inside & out, to enjoy brekkie with orchard & paddock views or from the dining table with outlooks east & west. A delicious start to each day at your own pace here on ou...r Southern Highlands farm! Other ways to enjoy BIRCH whilst staying in the Highlands include pre-order takeaways (Thu-Sat) or dine in (Fri-Sat) @birch_restaurant , or swing by @birch_store (Thu-Sat) to curate your own platter or meal. 22.01.2022 Five Family & Pooch Friendly Walks in the Highlands this May with nearby Refuels Box Vale Walking Track at Mittagong follows the now dismantled rail line once used to access coal deposits. Through bushland, we chose the easy grade 4.4km walk option via creak beds, shaded fern lined cuttings & a beautiful sandstone tunnel to the lookout, then returned on the same path. A well earned coffee & vanilla slice from @thegumnutpatisserie afterwards recommended too Bong Bon...g Track between Moss Vale & Burradoo, perfect for soaking up autumn sun with the family & fave canine on lead. Meander along the Wingecarribee River flat by bike or foot, spot local woodland birds & wildlife, maybe even a platypus some say! Stop in @rushroastingco at Moss Vale for sustenance after Cherry Tree Walk at Bowral - a very pretty & flat 5km pathway perfect for walkers, little bikers and on lead pooches. Starts at the pool and follows a creek through the leafy back streets of Bowral. The cherry trees were planted in memory of each soldier lost in the Vietnam War. Stunning when in blossom in spring. Takeaway refuels @the_press_shop are a great reward Berrima River Walk - a 1.8km bushland walk along the Wingecarribee, reasonably level, with markers highlighting the lives of German seamen who were interned here in WWI. The beautiful historical village of Berrima is within cooee to explore too, as is the very welcome @general_store_cafe_berrima for takeaways Exeter Village and surrounds (just a little biased here )- wander the tranquil, tree lined country lanes such as Devon Road, Cornwall Road, Ringwood Lane or Stone Quarry Creek Road & our beautiful, historic village & pretty oval with your pooch. 17.01.2022 Sheep shenanigans! Our 4 new ewes are sticking together, near the house & sheds - where the hay & kibble are! Our long-standing Suffolk flock are way down the same paddock out of shot. They aren’t keen on mingling just yet it seems. Audrey the alpaca is keeping a distant eye on the new girls just the same! Sheep are definitely social animals & form pecking orders within their flocks. It seems we have two separate flocks here at the minute until these two different groups of girls can start talking - so interesting to watch! Softly, softly...

First Saturday each month it’s Exeter Village Market Southern Highlands, followed by Bundanoon Markets the first and third Sundays, & The Bowral Market the second and fourth Saturdays. Renowned for creative use of local produce, beautiful presentation & service BIRCH is a great choice for a special night. But make sure to book ahead as their seats go like hot cakes! 11.01.2022 Friday afternoon & we’re partial to a picnic so here’s cheers to a lovely few days in the Highlands enjoying local goodies & gorgeous fresh countryside! When our guests plan a picnic we suggest stopping in at Moss Vale to pick up cheese, lavosh / crackers & charcuterie from @birch_store, then swinging by one of many nearby wineries (@stmaurwines is conveniently just round the corner) for a tasting & to pick up a bottle of something special. Picnic sorted! Here at the farm we ...have two picnic baskets & rugs guests can use & fill. Many spots to lay out the rugs: in the paddock, the orchard or down by the dam. And if the weather turns it’s just as lovely having a carpet picnic inside the Studio with green views all around. Happy weekend all!
