25.01.2022 The weekend is looking pretty ‘spesh’ for this lot of Year 12 students, who, just this afternoon, ticked Year 12 Specialist Maths off their to-do lists for good. 25.01.2022 Yesterday's Morning Reflection celebrated Woodleigh's Class of 2020. A more poised and mature group, you're not likely to meet. The words they spoke were full of hope for the future. Memories of fun and laughter were mixed with the frustration that 2020 and its restrictions have brought. Year 12 is a monumental year of growth and change, hard work and discovery. These students, one could argue, have been hit hardest by the COVID situation and its impositions on their lives. ...So, to hear them speak so powerfully of their dreams for the future their gratitude for the opportunities they have had and the relationships they've built at our school, was incredibly powerful. 19.01.2022 More than a decade ago, an inspirational teacher, Mr Thy, started a small school in the hot, harsh and humid environment of Kampot's salt fields. Chumkriel Language School doesn't just teach children the regular Cambodian curriculum, they get schooled in English too. CLS and Woodleigh have been partners since 2007 when the staff and students of Homestead 1 established contact. Since 2012, Woodleigh students have visited every year, volunteering to teach students, improve sta...ff language skills and build new facilities. Many alumni have also taken the opportunity to volunteer in long term placements, and NFP businesses such as The Toothbrush Project, which was started by past students Georgie Debenham and Amber Jones grew from their want to help the CLS community. This Friday, we invite you to our Perberkoong Celebration and Cambodia Night, which aims to raise important funds to contribute to the opearation and growth of CLS. We may not be able to visit, but we can still make a positive contribution to their world.
