22.01.2022 Great work to the Year 10 class for putting together 45 bags for the Share the Dignity Drive.



22.01.2022 Last Wednesday, the Music department staff and students put on a wonderful performance at the Perth Concert Hall. A COVID capacity crowd of 580 watched and listened to wind bands, jazz bands, choirs, guitar ensembles, percussion ensembles, as well as solo students, across Years 7 to 12.

20.01.2022 Each day last week various classes watched videos from different Indigenous leaders including Adam Goodes, Sally Morgan, Baker Boy, Mick Dodson and Yarlalu Thomas to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander during NAIDOC week. English classes also wrote messages on hand prints to hang around their classrooms.

20.01.2022 Last week, students in the Specialist Basketball Program attended their Presentation Evening at the Woodvale Reception Center. Special mention to Cody Ellis from the Warwick Senators and Jessica Stojkovski MLA for their attendance. Congratulations to all of the award winners.



20.01.2022 The College is collecting Chocolate Christmas Stockings for children in foster care. Donations can be dropped at the Home Economics office or at the front reception. Donations close 25 November.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to all our Year 12s - LEAVERS 2020 - on a great year and making it through some challenging times. Dress up day sees some great costumes! Best wishes and good luck to our graduating class of 2020.

19.01.2022 The Year 11 Outdoor Education class adventured down south for a three day trek. They adventured to Smiths Beach River Crossing, Wyadup and Indijup Beach. They were exhausted but kept pushing through. Great job to those students who completed the journey.

19.01.2022 On Wednesday Rochelle Coleman, Noongar woman and English teacher from Churchlands SHS presented to Woodvale staff on embedding Aboriginal perspectives in the classroom. Thank you to Rochelle for her honest words!

17.01.2022 Today is #HugYourHoundDay. Show your hounds some love and give them extra cuddles today. We also want to celebrate four years of the greyhound therapy dog program at the College. Boots, Rush and Archie have helped immensely with the wellbeing of staff and students and are a huge part of the Woodvale family.

Unfortunately, none of our teams were successful, however, with over 1000 books being submitted and 7637 students participating nation-wide there was some fairly tough competition. 13.01.2022 On Tuesday, students were treated to a presentation from Firetech for the STEMUnitED program. They participated in the Drone Wars Championships where they manoeuvred (and crashed) whilst racing their DJI RoboMasters drones. Thanks to the fantastic presenters and Firetech for the opportunity. 13.01.2022 Year 9 students who have excellence attendance, behaviour and ICT practices were rewarded yesterday with ice-creams. There was also a prize draw for students with Thomas, Stephanie and Dana all winning gift cards for their excellent conduct at the College this term.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Louis W for winning the Runner-up School Apprentice of the Year Award at the Hospitality Group Training Awards. He is currently studying a School Based Apprenticeship completing a Certificate III in Hospitality. He is a highly motivated and creative student who has a thirst for knowledge in anything related to the hospitality industry.

12.01.2022 The Year 9s (and two Year 8s) competed in the Champion Schools state basketball final against Willetton SHS yesterday afternoon. The girls played an excellent game to come away with a 53 - 40 victory. Jayda C won Grand Final MVP. The boys fought hard but went down 38 66. Jaemon Y top scoring with 16 points.

12.01.2022 Alexandra S has won the award for her book review of Terra Nullius by Claire G Coleman for NAIDOC week. She said reading books written by indigenous people is important because it gives you a new perspective on their experiences and thoughts on colonisation. The library has books written by Noongar/Aboriginal authors such as Cleverman by Ryan Griffen, The Old Lie by Claire G Coleman, Stolen Girl by Trina Saffioti and Norman McDonald AND Young Dark Emu: A truer history by Bruce Pascoe.

08.01.2022 The Year 11 Dinner Dance was held at AQWA recently, with students enjoying a tour of the underwater aquarium before moving to the function centre. After dinner and speeches, students let loose on the dance floor, with the performance of the evening going to Dyllan R, who cleared the dancefloor with his breakdancing sequence - including a backflip! With over 150 students attending, the standard of dress and behaviour was outstanding. Thank you to the staff who sacrificed their Friday night to supervise the evening.

08.01.2022 Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Lindy Jenkins, spoke to the Year 11 and 12 Politics classes about her time as a lawyer and a judge. Several Year 11 & 12 students are looking to pursue law as a career and they benefited greatly from her presentation.

Five students received Certificates of Distinction - Bella Cooper, Georgia Criddle, Jessica Croot, Constantina Gile and James Ong. Congratulations to the 22 students who earned Certificates of Merit. We are so proud of our students and look forward to hearing about their choices for 2021.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to the Mock Trials team on their win against Perth College last night. Ethan the accused punk rocker was found not liable. Katie and Cameron were barristers, Joel was a witness, Brayden was the solicitor and Josh was the Judge’s Associate time keeper.

05.01.2022 The College has created a reconciliation walk that features all of the great Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people installations around the college! The College’s top student was Jacob R who achieved a High Distinction, which is awarded to students in the top 3% in Australia! All classes have had the opportunity to look at the common garden snail up close, and investigate how they move, grow, eat and respond. Did you know that snails can live up to 5 years?
