25.01.2022 Happy first day of spring! It’s calving and lambing at Woomargama Station with sights like this every day. Happy Tuesday!

25.01.2022 Great to have Kylie Durant, from Holbrook Landcare, come and look at the creek restoration work: a project of collaboration between Holbrook Landcare, the NSW Environmental Trust and Woomargama Station. All great habitat for the endangered Pigmy Perch.

21.01.2022 So great to see Woomargama Station’s own Fiona Wragge featured in the 150 years of the Weekly Times!

20.01.2022 We were delighted today to welcome the environmental club from Trinity Anglican College at Albury for a visit to show them how we marry farming with the environment. It was wonderful to show off the convenant which protects key areas, our tree planting and to talk about the station and what we produce. Thanks to Trinity for the visit and for the chance to tell our story.

19.01.2022 A very good morning from a wintery but stunning morning on the Station.

18.01.2022 It was time today to choose the top line of cows for a special genetic program and the workforce was swelled by some of those who are schooling from home at the moment. Next week Georgia will swap cows for classmates. But for now, lunchtimes can mean a trip to the cattle yards to lend a hand.

17.01.2022 All the beauty that is Woomargama Station right now. Stunning Hereford cows, beautiful autumn weather and green grass. We are feeling very blessed. Herefords Australia

17.01.2022 The fog has just cleared, the sky is blue, the grass is green and these young ewe hoggets are basking in the sun. It’s a picture perfect afternoon at Woomargama Station.

15.01.2022 Can there ever be too many photos of shearing? It’s such a scenic time of year and now the busy-ness has gone, just the bales remain.

14.01.2022 This may look like a paddock of flowers but to us, this is insurance. We’ve grazed this paddock of oats, tilage radish, brassica and clover over winter, then we’ve locked it up so we can cut silage - the best way for us to conserve fodder. Thanks to timely rain, the growth has been extraordinary and we are counting down the days until it is cut and put away for a non-rainy day.

13.01.2022 It has been an exciting week for Woomargama Station as we became a site for the WOODiWiLD plantings of trees. The planting is part of a program to provide habitat for wildlife threatened with extinction as well as providing benefits to the farm. More information by clicking on the link below. And with 12mm of rain overnight and more predicted, the timing could not have been more perfect. We look forward to sharing the "after" photos as the trees grow. https://woodiwild.org/plantation/woomargama-station/

13.01.2022 The Woomargama Team outside St Marks, Woomargama. The Cathedral was in full song this morning!

09.01.2022 Red sky in the morning, shepherds’ warning. We are hoping for rain today. It’s a warm 14C at 7am, a dramatic difference to the -4C we saw earlier this week.

09.01.2022 From the rolling hills of Woomargama Station to the flat Riverine plains. We have sent our steers to Hay on agistment to preserve our ground cover and landscape. The agistment was the perfect fit for us - the station at Hay is renowned for caring for their country and had destocked about 12 months ago when their season was not looking so good. Now our steers will graze their native graasses and herbage that have responded to rest and rain. We are wondering though if the steers will be longing for the hills!

08.01.2022 It’s been a long wet cold week but today the sunshine is back. The trade off for the winter rain is worth it - lush feed for our stock. These are our rising one year old Poll Hereford heifers looking picture perfect after being moved into a new paddock!

07.01.2022 We will remember them. Lest We Forget.

07.01.2022 An extra for the bus this morning? He decided to stay home in the greener pastures.

07.01.2022 Everyone enjoyed a sunny day today after a wonderful 102mm of rain this week. This mob of eight month steers is part of a draft we sold late last week on Auctionsplus. The steers weighed 220-260kg and are some of the best we have bred here. While we are sad to see them go, we are so very proud that they look so good and will go to return and new buyers.

06.01.2022 Our 2018-drop steers headed north for winter and the pictures tell a thousand words. To look after our country, we sent the entire drop of Poll Hereford steers to an agistment property at Hay, which follows similar grazing practises as we do and is equally concerned about sustainability. The steers have thrived on the native pastures and were looking fantastic when we went to check them this week. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to find extra grazing for these steers which are showing the investment we have made in Injemira and Days Whiteface genetics.

05.01.2022 We are very proud to be part of the ZQ Merino program and these textile sample books from Japanese designer Nishikawakeori represent the calibre of people who are noticing what we do. Nishikawakeori is a multi-generational artisan company which uses wool from ZQ and have connected with us. It's always exciting to grow a wonderful natural fibre but these connections make it even more so.

03.01.2022 We are very proud to share the news that lamb from Woomargama Station has won a GOLD medal at the Australian Food Awards earlier this month. The smoked lamb, which is sourced from Woomargama Station by Butt's Gourmet Smokehouse, won the medal in the cured meats section. We are delighted to partner with a wonderful Albury business and to share in the success of this accolade.

03.01.2022 With a hot week ahead it’s early morning cattle work to make sure the herd is fine health wise.

03.01.2022 We’ve been lucky enough to be under some storms and that has allowed the lucerne to recover and grow some nice summer feed. It’s fantastic to have some green feed to put the latest group of Merino ewe weaners onto, to continue to grow them out.

03.01.2022 A picture perfect day to finish shearing today, so it was time to recruit the youngest jillaroos to help out with moving the final mob back. It was the old fashioned way to gently move the ewes back to a fresh paddock of green feed, and was enjoyed by all.
