23.01.2022 The next WOOMB International Conference will be held in Cotonou, Benin, from 5th - 11th March 2020. Start planning to be there! More details as they become available.

23.01.2022 REMINDER: A scholarship fund has been established to assist Billings teachers in Africa to attend the Conference and Training Programs to be held in Benin in 2020. Donations can be made at: https://www.givenow.com.au//africanbillingsovulationmethod. Please be as generous as you are able and if you wish your donation to remain anonymous make sure you tick that box. After all the many trips that Drs John and Lyn Billings made to Africa over many years, it would be a trage...dy if the Billings Ovulation Method no longer flourished on that continent because we couldn't afford to ensure that African trainees are able to attend this conference which is being held for their benefit. Please help us to continue the great work of our founders.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to WOOMB France Billings LIFE who will celebrate 10 years with LAssemblée Générale on 28th September. Thank you all for everything you do to spread the good news of the Billings Ovulation Method in France and other French speaking countries. www.billingslife.fr

22.01.2022 Congratulations to the team at WOOMB Costa Rica who have reported on a successful training program for teachers of the Billings Ovulation Method. Held at Chitré, about 4 hours away from Panama City, it was attended by 21 participants from different parts of the country who will now be able to spread this good news in their local communities.

21.01.2022 If you haven't yet donated to assist African couples attend the WOOMB International conference in Benin next March, this good news story may interest you: The Billings Ovulation Method was introduced in Nyahururu, Kenya in 1977. A few years later CORAT-Africa set up a study of family planning methods with Johns Hopkins and funded by USAID. In this study 3 sites were across-the-counter pill programs and one was NFP, which was established in the Nyahururu parish. The cha...nge in the NFP participants was startling. Prior to the program the women thought the most important aspect of sexual relations was to have children. A year later the highest priority was to share love. The change in the status of the wives from subservient to full partnership was even more remarkable. The women now fully shared in all the couple's decisions - the schooling of children, expenditures, etc. The men were very proud of the fact that they could decide when to have intercourse. Most of the participants were Kikuyu, a very patriarchal tribe. One man said "I used to be afraid to stay in the same hut with my wife unless we wanted another child - now I can sleep in the same bed with her (without having relations). Your donation will help other people in Africa have this life-changing experience. https://www.givenow.com.au//africanbillingsovulationmethod

Your passion and dedication in spreading the authentic Billings Ovualtion Method show you are both truly worthy of this Award.

20.01.2022 The good news is spreading...

19.01.2022 For those who didn't have the chance to see it before, or perhaps you would like your own copy of this DVD, now available in our online Shop - https://billings.ecwid.com/DVD-Sexual-Revolution-50-Years-s Seven years in the making, SEXUAL REVOLUTION seeks to examine the effects of the free-love experiment of the hippie generation and the prophetic encyclical, Humanae Vitae. This beautiful documentary closely examines the history of the parallel developments of the Pill and mod...ern Natural Family Planning by telling the little known story of the founding doctors - Dr Gregory Goodwin Pincus who developed the Pill and Drs John and Evelyn Billings and the scientists who validated the Billings Ovulation Method, Professors James Brown and Erik Odeblad. The film follows the dramatic life story of Alana Newman, a talented secular musician who, through desperation to know her father, discovers the treasures of Theology of the Body, Humanae Vitae, and the riches of true freedom. This documentary contains footage of Drs John and Evelyn Billings and Professors Brown and Odeblad as well as St Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa).

11.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Professor Len Blackwell from New Zealand. Len was a friend to the Drs Billings and particularly Professor Brown. After the passing of Professor Brown, Len made many trips to Australia and spent endless hours reading Professor Brown’s workbooks to continue his work on the Ovarian Monitor. The tenacity and strength of Len showed through when he was able to replicate Professor Brown’s work and with his friend and colleague Dr Delwyn Cooke was also able to develop a new, equally as accurate and yet more user friendly, method for measuring oestrogen and pregnanediol in urine. Many will have heard him speak at a FEMME training or conference, as well as other Natural Family Planning conferences. We send our sympathies to Len’s children and grandchildren. Vale Professor Len Blackwell.

10.01.2022 WOOMB International Directors meeting with Bishop Louis Nguyen Anh Tuan and Fr James who were both instrumental in organising for the Billings Ovulation Method to be taken to Vietnam where there are now trained teachers in every part of the country.

10.01.2022 Some more photos of the great work being done by our people in Benin. They are looking forward to meeting you at the Conference next year.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to the team at WOOMB Mexico on this great news: https://drive.google.com//1jIPwsw0j5W52pVe1iTGVZUGfSb/view - video of the ceremony, at the Universidad Panamericana, in México City, where for the thirteenth time, the directors of the Health Sciences Faculty, gave diplomas to outstanding students in the subject of Responsible Procreation, in which they study the Curriculum of the Instructor during a whole semester. In the event at the Auditorium of the Univer...sity, the students of the Medicine School, and the Nursing School, were accompanied by their parents, and after some speeches about what the BOM is, the delivery of diplomas and of the slide rule (they longed to have one), there was a wine of honor and some snacks at the Library. As you can see in the video, the students are very happy for their achievements and they are aware of their role with their future patients always offering them the best options for their health and in this case, the BOM for the family planning. 04.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we inform our followers of the death on 17 October of Emeritus Professor Erik Odeblad, world renowned pioneer into the study of the structure and function of the cervix. It was Professor Odeblad's meticulous scientific research that contributed to the verification of the Billings Ovulation Method of natural fertility regulation. We mourn his loss while giving thanks and praise for his life and work and the opportunity to have known this wonderful man.

03.01.2022 Timing is of the essence: study of Billings Ovulation Method shows infertile women how to get pregnant An Australian study published in Human Fertility demonstrated pregnancy rates of >50% in clinically infertile women, and 73% in non-infertile women, without the use of ART/IVF. Marshell et al. "Stratification of fertility potential according to cervical mucus symptoms: achieving pregnancy in fertile and infertile couples." Published online on 29th October, 2019 https:/.../doi.org/10.1080/14647273.2019.1671613 examined patient data from 17 clinics across Australia for women seeking to achieve pregnancy. A total of 384 women were followed for up to two years after being instructed to monitor their cervical mucus and to time sexual intercourse according to the Billings Ovulation Method in order to achieve pregnancy. Major finding 1: pregnancy rates The majority of the cohort had been clinically infertile for >12 months, with more than half of these achieving pregnancy, including 7 out of 20 women who were previously unsuccessful with ART/IVF. Over a quarter of the study group were >35 years old and these achieved a pregnancy rate of >50% as well. Overall, 92% of pregnancies were achieved within the first 12 months. Major finding 2: importance of cervical mucus in achieving pregnancy The nature of mucus observations of the woman during the fertile window, particularly the peak mucus symptom, allowed stratification of women into low or high pregnancy potential groups. A favourable mucus symptom corresponded to 76% pregnancy rate, and an unfavourable mucus symptom corresponded to a 44% pregnancy rate. Impact Up to 1 in 6 couples are affected by infertility. This is basic womens physiology, says Dr Joseph Turner from the University of New England, and every GP should be able to advise women on how to make their menstrual cycle work for them. This method provides a rapid, reliable and cost-effective approach to a) achieving pregnancy and b) stratifying fertility potential so that informed decisions about delaying or bringing forward fertility investigations and management can be made to help couples achieve pregnancy sooner.
