20.01.2022 Time in nature has not been cancelled. With COVID-19 changing the way we're living our lives, and many events and gatherings being cancelled or postponed, it's ...important to remember that not everything we love to do is on hold. Spend time in nature, take a walk to your local park, go on a bush walk, take a wander down the beach, even relax or play in your own backyard!

05.01.2022 JUNE HARVEST SWAP + Wise Harry Wisdom Our next Swap will be tomorrow! (20 June) 36 Upper Wakefield Street, Woombye... Bring your excess HOMEGROWN PRODUCE - fruit, veggies, herbs, seedlings, seeds, eggs, honey, worm juice, compost - the limit is your imagination! AND HOMEMADE GOODS - preserves, baked goods, handmade items etc, etc. . . . . . PLUS ~ WISE HARRY WISDOM If you have been to a Harvest Swap in the past you may have been lucky enough to get talking to Harry (pictured). He's a quiet fella with an incredible head of knowledge - particularly when it comes to native bush foods and medicines. And so many other things too! I asked Harry a few months back if he would be willing to impart some of his wisdom at a Harvest Swap sometime. He reluctantly agreed as he is not someone who enjoys the limelight. But he said, "I'm not getting any younger so I figure I'd better start sharing some of the things I know." Yes! Thank you so much Harry. . . . . . PLUS ~ SHARED MORNING TEA & PICNIC LUNCH It's been sooooooo long since we've been together! Let's share morning tea before and during the swap PLUS a picnic afterwards. We've all got some serious catching up to do! If you'd like to you can bring something to share for morning tea - pre-brewed tea/coffee, cake etc and this counts as your contribution for swapping. AND if you'd like to stay for lunch either BYO or bring a plate to share and we will spread out the picnic rugs, eat, chat and be merry. . . . . . PLEASE share the love - This is a money-free initiative based on community and connection. Please share this event on your social media platforms, tell your friends, your family, that stranger with the veggie garden and fruit trees! Look forward to seeing you again / meeting you for the first time. Leonie :)

01.01.2022 Namba Creek Working Bee Saturday 21 November 0700 G'day all. Here's a picture of a few Water Dragons enjoying the lawn and sunshine (earlier in the month) just... next to the creek and it's native vegetation that is their home thanks to your efforts. There seems to be little of the "promised" rain from La Nina in evidence either now or in forecasts and it's so hot that we'll postpone any planting for this month (and the rest of the year as this is the last working bee here before Xmas). But there are plenty of weeds to deal with in all situations from easy flat ground, to vertical cliff face (small), so something for everyone. And there are 28 tree labels ready to be installed, so something a bit different if you're over weeds. We'll assemble at physically distanced positions in the shade of the Model Railway shed from 7 am this Saturday with sterilized hands for signing on to Nadia's sheet and then get stuck into it, hopefully before it gets too hot. Best access with lots of parking room, is via the main entry to The Model Railway Park off Florence St Nambour. If you want to join in the fun and exercise, you'll need to come in bush protective clothing, including boots/shoes and a hat. Sunscreen for any uncovered bits would be good and we'll have some there for you. We'll also have all the tools and supplies necessary for the activities, but bring your own favorites is also good particularly with the virus lurking not far away. We'll finish with a cuppa at around 9 am or perhaps a bit earlier if you all work hard ! Again it's good to bring your own mug and even thermos of hot (or cold) drink, but we'll have some as well for you. Regards, Norm Morwood. BCSC Coordinator. See more
