25.01.2022 Our Australian wildlife might be used to the summer heat, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect them! Look out for our native fauna by leaving bowls of fresh, clean water in areas where they’ll be able to drink both undisturbed and protected. Shallow dishes are better for smaller animals but if you’re using a bigger container, leave a rock or stick next to it so that little creatures can climb out as needed.

25.01.2022 This made our day! Pay back time

25.01.2022 This popped up in the garden so I just wanted to share it with you. It's a starfish or anemone stinkhorn fungus, Aseroe rubra. Amazing mother nature! And apparently it will stink as it matures!! Not to be eaten, of course!

24.01.2022 This is the gorgeous Husky KIRRA. She loves her squeaky toys!

24.01.2022 This is Wallis and his owner Anthony. Wallis is a young Jersey Buff turkey who can be quite full of himself. Anthony is a devoted parent and an amazing WILVOS carer!!

24.01.2022 On really hot and humid days, bring your pets inside. If you’re able to keep your home cool with air-conditioning, fans or open windows, your pets will thank you for it!

24.01.2022 PUGS Galore! Oh soooo...cute! 4 weeks and growing!

24.01.2022 Some of you may remember KALI the orphaned Pademelon from a few weeks ago. His multiple fractures have all healed, his splints have been removed and he is getting ready for release back into the wild

23.01.2022 Just have to share this wonderful success story! This little guy is a stunning male Scarlet Honeyeater. He was rescued from the mouth of a cat and brought into the clinic. He was unable to stand, and looked as if he would not survive his ordeal. With antibiotic intervention and good nursing, he has made a remarkable recovery! He is a forest dweller normally, and enjoys foraging in the upper canopy. An omnivorous eater, insects and nectar are his staples. He is the smallest of Australia's Honeyeaters. Once he has grown a few more tail feathers, he will be released.

21.01.2022 PET OF THE WEEK Meet SPARKY the adorable guinea pig! She is quite the sassy one and enjoys frolicking around in the yard all day catching those rays

21.01.2022 FEATHERTAIL GLIDERS AKA PYGMY GLIDING POSSUMS These gorgeous native animals are named for their remarkable tail which is flat with stiff fringed hair growing horizontally either side all the way to the tip. The tail is used to steer and brake as they glide through the trees. The flap of skin between front and back feet extending like a parachute. The flattened tail helps this tiny possum to glide, steer, brake and anchor itself on landing. The weight of an adult is 10-15 ...gram, so this tiny glider is often missed when in trouble, or mistaken for a mouse when the cat brings it in. This little guy is a juvenile and weighs approx. 5grams and will be in care for at least 1 month before being released into a commune with other orphan gliders as they live in communities of between 5 to 30 individuals. They are found throughout eastern Australia from South Australia through to far north Queensland. Help us to keep our beautiful native wildlife safe by keeping your kitties indoors at night as these little guys are nocturnally active.

19.01.2022 Walk your dog very early in the morning or in the early evening. This will help you avoid the hottest part of the day and prevent your pup from dehydrating or burning their paws on hot pavement or asphalt. One way to test if the ground is too hot is to use to Five Second Rule. Place the back of your hand on the surface for five seconds and if it’s too hot for you, then it’s too hot for your dog!

18.01.2022 Introducing BOO, a stunning seal point mink coloured 16 week old Ragdoll kitten. A mischievious bundle of cuteness!

14.01.2022 PET OF THE WEEK Meet Arami the Central Netted Dragon A small active dragon with an intricate reticulated or netlike pattern of dark lines over a pale grey-brown background. The head is rounded and the legs and toes are strong to enable them to run at great speeds and to dig burrows. The tail of an adult is usually around 16cm in length, the head and body about 10cm. The males and females are very similar but the former tend to develop larger a head in relation to body size as they mature.

13.01.2022 This is a beautiful Green Catbird found in our carpark last night as we were going home. It appeared a little stunned and was being attacked by some naughty miner birds. It is much more feisty this morning but will spend a few days with our great WILVO carers in recovery. It eats mostly fruit and berries, and is common in or near rainforest areas. It is classed as a Bowerbird and has a stocky stout beak.

13.01.2022 We are trying to find the owner of this beautiful female Wolfhound Cross found wandering in Coes Creek area. Please phone Woombye Vet 5442 2000 if you know this dog.

11.01.2022 Just letting you all know that we are still here working despite social distancing and all that this requires. This little budgie required extra assistance to pass this rather large egg!! Just in time for Easter!! Just kidding! Please take care and stay well in these uncertain times.

10.01.2022 Check out this handsome client Would you believe Balder is 17 and a half years young!?

08.01.2022 We have such sensational wildlife that we need to protect in our region. This beautiful echidna was collected from the side of the road and fortunately has only suffered a few broken quills. It's perfect beak is used for eating ants and termites, grinding food between the tongue and the lower part of the mouth. They have no teeth. Along with the platypus, they are egg-laying mammals, feeding the puggle with a milk patch rather than a nipple. Now in care, this echidna has proved that it can burrow and will be released asap.

07.01.2022 We treat a variety of animals here at Woombye Vets. We love a challenge! Here is Mr. Pigger before his BIG surgical desexing event. He is kept as a much loved pet and plays with the dogs, a St. Bernard & a German Shepherd. He recovered uneventfully. He was 50kg then, and 60kg now 3 weeks later.

05.01.2022 Keep your littlest pets in the shade or indoors at all times. Because birds, guinea pigs, rats, and mice are often kept in cages or hutches, they’re not always able to seek out cooler places themselves. Make sure you move them into a shady, well-ventilated area in hot weather or better yet, bring them inside into a cooler room like the laundry.

04.01.2022 Make sure your pets have access to plenty of shade and clean, fresh water. It’s worth providing extra water sources too. If your pet normally drinks from one water bowl set down a few more bowls in different places too, just in case any of the others are accidentally knocked over.
