20.01.2022 Thursday news! --------------------------------------------------------- Last Saturday we played Shoalhaven in Nowra. Second grade, as per last week, produced a close win. Again, there are 50 ways to lose a game in the last 5 minutes, 2nd s again tried 49 of them, boys don’t get into habit of doing this, I don’t think Scott Lunney (the coach) can survive any more of this. The less said about the 1st grade game the better, if you keep giving your opponents the ball, you are go...ing to lose big time. The same thing happened at Shoalies last year, so I think we need to engage a sports psychiatrist to work out what it is about playing Shoalies in Nowra, that does this to Shamrocks. This week we play Kiama at home, the last home game of the year. Second grade will kick off at 1:30 p.m. and firsts at 3:00 p.m. We have a couple of key players back this week so should be good to watch. Remember, if you are coming down, the Covid 19 rules apply, you can’t drink whilst standing, so bring a deck chair. You’ll have to sign in as you enter the ground. This week we’ll be much tougher on enforcing the Covid rules, particularly around having a drink, come prepared. So, remember we are at home for the last home game. So, who’s with us? 19.01.2022 Yearly rap up! With the big win in both grades last weekend, we come to the end of the 2020 Illawarra rugby season. It was a season that almost didn’t happen, a season full of tests and challenges, and a season not to be forgotten. On behalf of the Shamrocks Rugby Club there’s a lot of people to thank.... Firstly our players and coaches, For our club to put two competitive teams out on the park every week was a big effort and should be heavily applauded. The effort that players put into an endless pre season, two nights of training a week and producing some incredible rugby throughout the rounds is nothing short of impressive and represented the club in great fashion. To our helpers, This year was like no other. The work that went into hosting home games can always be a challenge, throwing covid-19 into the mix just made things a little harder. Regardless of these challenges, everything always ran smoothly and efficiently. On behalf of the entire club we thank you. Without your efforts this season wouldn’t be able to happen. Lastly our supporters, We are proud to be a club that has fantastic supporters. Every week (regardless of home or away) our supporters would match or better our opponents. As a club we went heavy on social media to give our supporters all the information they needed, and the turn outs to all the games made it all worth it. Together we had one hell of a great season! I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling the momentum swinging into a great season next year with our young senior sides can only get better with another year of experience under their belt! It's been great having him back in the Shamrock green where he belongs, as we appreciate his efforts he provides for the club both off and on the field for our great club!... 10.01.2022 Pre season training Shamrocks Rugby seniors pre-season training has started. 6:30 PM every Tuesday and Thursday at Nicholson Park. So, get down there and enjoy the best Rugby Coaching (bar none) in the Illawarra with a great group of people.

10.01.2022 Thursday news! Last Saturday we played Kiama at home and managed to settle back into our normal structured patterns of play. I’m pleased to say that 2nds didn’t try to loose the game and put on a good performance all the way through the game. 1st got off to a slightly shacky start but settled in and went away with the game. This week we play Campbelltown away, for the last game of the year. Second grade will kick off at 1:30 p.m. and firsts at 3:00 p.m. We a...re a bit short of players in second grade but have a good strong first grade team. It has been a difficult on/off season, difficult to keep the energy up and difficult to keep focused. Thanks to all the volunteers involved this year for your contributions, to the players who must have been wondering what’s the point of all this training, and to the coaches who often wondered who was going to turn up. The club has been tested this year, and it has shown us all how strong it is and what it means to us all to be a Shamrock. So, who’s with us?
