24.01.2022 Woorabinda Elders NAIDOC Luncheon at Wadja Wadja High School photos:

24.01.2022 Today we are reading parts of "I love you as much as" and singing rhymes like "5 Little ducks went out one day" and "Baa baa black sheep". Rhyming helps babies ...and children learn about words, sounds and language formation. Hearing and using rhyme, rhythm and repetition helps children develop early literacy skills. The repetition of words, ideas and skills is important for early brain development, as it creates secure foundations for early learning. To watch more of your favourite Baby Play, Story Time and Rhyme Time sessions, visit www.slq.qld.gov.au/first-5-forever/watch

21.01.2022 Hello everyone, we are still a few weeks away from opening the library properly. We still have renovations and IT issues to sort out and once we do that, we should be open for business. Thanks for all your patience and understanding and please keep in contact with ideas and suggestions that will help us provide a great service to the Woorabinda community.

14.01.2022 National Child Protection Week is held each September to promote messages of child abuse prevention and child protection. Under this year’s theme of ‘Putting ...children first’ we ask that all Australians consider how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities. For children to thrive we need to come together as a community and put children’s needs first during National Child Protection Week and every week. See more

04.01.2022 Hello everyone, The IKC is getting back into shape internally and we have sorted 99.99 % of the books and DVD's onto the shelves, we have cleaned up the interior and starting to sort our local collections including old Woorabinda newspapers, local district documents (Baralaba), old photos and documents of Woorabinda and other settlements, Qld Aboriginal Exemption records, Qld Removal Records, Qld Tracker Records, Tindale and Margaret Lawrie Collections and other bits and pieces of cultural information relevant to aboriginal history. So when we re-open there should be enough information available for you to research and collect for your own family history.
