25.01.2022 Today was a ‘berry’ lovely way to end the week. The wonderful Bob @beechworthberries invited us down to our local berry farm to learn, pick and then eat the most delicious strawberries we have ever eaten. To quote one of our delightful Prep students (who had red hands and a strawberry kissed face) ‘this was actually the best day ever!’ What a positive day and excursion after such an unusual year! Thank you Bob and team! If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head down, you will not be disappointed!

24.01.2022 Sunny has had a haircut and hopped in front of the camera today for a local media opportunity with @dogs.connect founder, Grant Shannon and Sarah from Gateway Health. Oodles of oodles is absolutely never a bad thing! Prime News stories and newspaper articles will be circulating shortly, capturing the magic that is this very special program and opportunity! #sunnytheschooldog #woorageeprimaryschool

24.01.2022 Lest we forget. Thank you to these beautiful young men, two of our Year 6 leaders, for representing our school today laying a wreath at the Beechworth service

23.01.2022 This young man, one of our wonderful Preps, was asked to tell us what he had learnt during remote learning about fractions. Well, I think you will all learn a thing or two when you listen to his exemplary explanation

22.01.2022 At school today something pretty incredible happened. One of our friends from Landcare spotted a Tawny Frogmouth and a baby in Yirrikama on a visit a few weeks back. Today, we went down for playtime and one of our students made this incredible discovery! Another mother and her baby! Today will no doubt, be one of those special days for our kids that they will always remember. The magic and beauty of nature #woorageeprimaryschool

20.01.2022 WHAT’LL HAPPEN TO THE WATTLE? @woorageeprimaryschool is embarking on a history making event! The P-2 class applied for a world first event to win the opportunity to grow and nurture wattle seeds which have been to space. We will receive wattle seeds that have flown to space, plus seeds that have not. The seeds are from the same seed lot. Students are asked to germinate and grow their seeds, recording data about the germination and seed growth. Data will be uploaded to the... ‘What’ll happen to the wattle??!’ app. Throughout the programme, One Giant Leap Australia Foundation will run teleconferences and provide educational support to participating groups. The 12-month to 2 year project will result in the creation of a nationwide map identifying the location of Australia‘s 'space wattle’ trees. The project is an historic opportunity for Australian schools and students offered through Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)! WOW! #woorageeprimaryschool #whatllhappentothewattle #jaxa See more

20.01.2022 We are officially half way through STEPtember and we have smashed our $1000 target. In fact, we have nearly doubled it already! Help us reach $3000 before September 28th 2020. If this isn’t enough inspiration for you, we aren’t sure what is. You’re an amazing young lady! https://www.steptember.org.au//woorageeprimaryschoolwarrio

19.01.2022 This week has been jam packed, but special! Year 6 graduation ceremony and school concert, visits from the man in red, letters from Nintendo, cranes on the Tennis courts and our Year 6 crew off for a big bike ride tomorrow. This time of the year is busy, but my goodness, it also has such a special feel. Today was extra lovely

17.01.2022 Today’s Maths lesson looking at data collection, representation and interpretation was a big hit in P-2! Skittles may or may not have had something to do with that, but it’s all about the real life connections after all We made tally’s, responded to and posed questions from the data we collected and really engaged with the topic. A lovely way to end the week. Happy weekend everyone

17.01.2022 TERM 4 INFORMATION

16.01.2022 Today in our poetry lesson in the P-2 class, we read an incredible poem entitled ‘Trails’ by Aboriginal Australian poet, actor, playwright, and director, Eva Johnson. The room was silent but for the sounds of the bush, and David’s voice brought to life Johnson’s wonderful, wonderful words. The imagery and emotive language used prompted drawings rich with detail, as the students put pencil to paper to record their visualisations. Similarly, a couple of weeks ago, one of our P...reps echoed the imagery in a short excerpt from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and drew an image bright with colour and life. This authentic, intuitive response to the world around them and all its wonders in word and song will stand these students in good stead! I once walked along the trails of my ancestors through deserts, mountains, rivers, and sands where food was plenty, where goanna tracks led to waterholes where the bandicoot whistled its name. I gathered nuts from the kurrajong tree and suckled wild honey. I swam with catfish in billabongs of water lilies and tasted cooked food from ovens underground. I smelled the promise of the winds along trails of the dreaming and traced my mother’s footsteps embedded in the sand. I once walked along the trails of my ancestors that have now blown away with the winds of time. Only in memory will I walk along the trails. Only in memory will they remain.

16.01.2022 Eat the rainbow, we’re told, and today we certainly did that! There were so many bright, colourful, plastic-free lunchboxes to be seen today. We think it should be Nude Food Day every day! Speaking of plastic, we also had a visit from Halve Waste. We learned afresh about where our rubbish goes, and how to sort it, with some interesting discoveries! Our bin audit prompted many cries of horror, with a few green faces here and there. However, there were many brave souls who kept their gloves on tight, and sorted an entire red bin’s worth. We were so excited to learn how we can become more sustainable - keep your eyes peeled for more changes coming in 2021!

15.01.2022 We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to meet, learn and connect on the country of the Dhudhuroa people. We feel passionate about the need to raise the cultural understanding of our students and community. Our students engaged in some insightful and rich conversations today as we celebrate NAIDOC week. Always was, always will be. #naidocweek2020

14.01.2022 LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL AREA We must send the most enormous shout out to the awesome, Matt, from @yacklandscapes for our beautiful new retaining wall area. This space was hard to maintain and was mostly unused. It will now be a space for our kids to play under the shade of these incredible trees and share lunch times together. We are so grateful. Photos do not do this justice. It’s just so lovely! Thank you, Matt!

12.01.2022 Today’s adventures...Year 6 bike ride Eurobin-Bright, spotting echidnas, STEM and lots of fantastic teamwork and supporting each other. We are nearly at the end of what has been an unusual year, but these last few weeks are wonderful. Happy weekend everyone!

09.01.2022 Our journey with Sunny so far has been about connection. Building authentic connections to benefit our school community, but also Sunny. It has been incredible already, seeing the way students respond with such empathy and consideration. For Sunny to feel safe, they know they have to be calm and gentle in their approach. It would seem the staff have also taken advantage of their own ‘building connection’ time. This journey is special and it is exciting for everyone in out school community #woorageeprimaryschool #dogsconnect

08.01.2022 We hope all of our wonderful students are tucked up in bed, ready to be back together tomorrow. We are so excited to welcome you all back and tackle this term head on! We’ve got this Team Wooragee, let’s do this! See you all tomorrow

08.01.2022 S U N N Y The words I provide will do absolutely no justice. One of our Year 2 students wrote this beautiful description of our dear Sunny pup. It is an incredible piece of writing...enjoy!

08.01.2022 R U OK? DAY We know just how important the social and emotional well-being of our students is to place them in a position where they are ready to learn. But aside from this, we see education as being foundational in relationships. Relationships between students, students-parents, students-teachers, teachers-parents, genuinely and respectfully between all members of our community. Part of forming and maintaining these relationships is looking out for each other. What better way to encourage us to check in with those people around us, than a day like today, but the most important part is keeping these conversations going and asking those important follow up questions. R u ok? We are right here

08.01.2022 What a team! Tonight we celebrate the enormous amounts of work which have taken place this year. Our school value of resilience has never been more important or visible. I want to say thank you to this wonderful team of passionate, wonderful, hardworking, caring and fantastic people who I have the privilege of working with each day. Our school is the wonderful place it is because of all the little and big things you do each day for our kids and school community. Thank you!

07.01.2022 Thank you. I just want to say thank you to our resilient students, families and staff members for all of their efforts this term. I have been, once again, amazed by the care, kindness, effort, appreciation, dedication, flexibility and sense of community that we are lucky to be surrounded by, within our school community. Thank you for supporting each other. Everyone has helped to make each other’s time over the past few months, just that little bit easier. I hope that the next few weeks allow time for you all to rest and recharge and to spend time with those you love, visiting places you love, doing things that you love. I hope you all have a very well deserved break. Thank you for everything

06.01.2022 Some of our 3-6 class showcasing their super cool skateboard decks! This Term in Art students have been creating their own unique designs to make their very own skateboard decks, which can in fact, have trucks and wheels fitted to be fully functional! They had a ball and were so proud of what they had made #woorageeprimaryschool

06.01.2022 This glorious Spring weather needs to be taken advantage of. Our on-site students rose to the occasion during playtime today. The pipe work was laid and the water was flowing, the shovels were worked to the bone. Watching our kids be creative, curious, problem solvers who support each other, is just a pleasure to observe #woorageeprimaryschool

05.01.2022 HOORAY, WE ARE BACK TOGETHER! What an exciting day it was. We have been waiting for today. Friends reunited, a school filled with smiles and conversation and back to learning, face to face, just the way we like it. It’s going to be a great term! #woorageeprimaryschool

04.01.2022 Playtime is full of rich learning experiences. Exploring in the frog bog today, our curious students found frogs eggs and tadpoles. To quote one student, ‘This is incredible. I’ve never seen a tadpole before. Look at it, it’s minuscule!

04.01.2022 Today we had a day of connection; new beginnings and old stories, rituals and traditions embedded in family, and our fluffiest new community member forging new stories in the hearts of learners young and old. We heard the tale of migration across the globe, as told by Grace’s grandparents, and learned new ways of existing in harmony in the classroom with lovely Sunny. A very special day, indeed.

02.01.2022 HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY DEAR OWEN This incredible man celebrates a VERY significant birthday today. We had hoped to spoil him beyond measure with a party to celebrate, but Covid has other plans. We feel truly lucky to have a mentor, garden guru, role model, friend and just a true gentleman, as a very special and integral part of our school community. Owen epitomises what it is to be graceful, selfless, kind and to live with purpose. 90 years young and you will still see Owen lugging wheelbarrows full of soil, carrying all of the heavy things and just making a positive impact wherever he goes. We just hope Owen knows how loved he is today. HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAY’S TO OUR OWEN. We would be lost without you! #sakg #woorageeprimaryschool

01.01.2022 Whilst we are always learning, today it was our turn in the classroom. Today we officially began our School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) training. This is a framework and a language you are going hear permeate through our school community in the time to come. Positive behaviour education, a positive for all school community members. We were very excited to commence our training and our SWPBS journey today #woorageeprimaryschool #swpbs
