22.01.2022 Our residents have been busy making poppies for Remembrance Day and would like to thank the children (and teachers) from Leongatha Children's Centre Inc. Chairo Christian School Leongatha Leongatha RSL for their help and participation. To our friends and the local community, you are also welcome to add a poppy. At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, we too will remember them, lest we forget.

20.01.2022 Dear Woorayl Lodge Family As you are aware we have undertaken, and gone above the recent measures as directed by the Commonwealth Department of Health regarding visitor restrictions, hand hygiene, temperature checks etc for aged care facilities in response to COVID-19. However, we do not believe that due to the many unknown factors of COVID-19, we can guarantee both our residents and staff wellbeing. We have made the decision to stop all visitors to the lodge until further... notice. Family members have been contacted and informed of our action. We do not have COVID-19 in the facility and aim to keep it that way. We have employed additional staff to assist with residents wellbeing especially in lifestyle. We are purchasing additional iPads for residents to be able to Skype with family and are in the process of setting up other methods of communication for family members. If you have any questions please call on 5662 2053. Please keep safe. Regards Shane Jenkins General Manager See more

14.01.2022 Dear Woorayl Family As we continue to monitor the impact of Covid-19, and the Victorian Government changes to restrictions, we are reviewing family visits to the lodge in line with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines: Residents are permitted 1 visitor once per day for a maximum of 2 hours... Where a resident needs physical support (eg help with feeding) or emotional support (eg for cognitive decline) they may have 1 visitor at a time but there is no limit on duration. For end of life (defined as expected within next 14 days) they may have 2 visitors at any one time (note - it is the 14 days that counts, not the degenerative condition leading to end of life). Due to staffing levels and to ensure correct infection control procedures are followed, we will continue to: 1. Utilize the Rotary Lounge (Sun-Room) as the designated area for visits, other than due to resident’s individual care needs and in consultation with the Care Manager, 2. Where possible, visits be limited between Monday and Fridays, 3. Visiting times be between 10:00 12:00 mornings or 14:00-16:00 afternoons 4. Visitors must ring ahead to book a time to visit, 5. Limit visits to as brief as possible (30 minutes max) 6. Visitors must wear PPE at ALL times, (no exceptions) 7. Visitors must adhere to Social Distance Guidelines 8. Where possible, we continue to ask family to utilize alternative methods of contact with family including Facetime, Zoom, etc. 9. All visitors are required to undertake temperature checks, hand hygiene and sign appropriate documentation prior to entering the lodge. We thank family and friends for your continued support and understanding that we are required to follow guidelines as set by both the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and the Victorian State Department of Health and Human Services. Woorayl Lodge residents and staff can’t wait until we are able to enjoy further reductions in restrictions to get us all back together, sooner rather than later. Regards Shane

07.01.2022 "Postcards from Home" We would like to start a new initiative and invite you to send "postcards from home" to our residents (and staff) to help keep us all connected. As we are all doing our best self isolating at home either with family, pets or on our own, why not take some time to send a "post card from home" telling our residents how you are spending your time. A funny pic, a crazy family snap, a picture of your pet, children's artwork - lets make it fun. ... To keep everyone safe we are asking you to email your "postcard from home" only to: [email protected]

06.01.2022 Dear Woorayl Family and Friends Please be advised that effective immediately we have again closed our doors to visitors until further notice. We apologise for taking these measures. However, as you are aware there are case(s) of Covid-19 in the local Leongatha area and district.... We will assess regularly and keep you updated. We encourage staff, family and friends to get tested for Covid-19 if you believe that you have been in contact with other(s) or visited areas that have been impacted by the latest Covid-19 outbreak. Please contact your local health service or GP if you have concerns. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. Shane Jenkins General Manager

06.01.2022 Dear Woorayl Lodge Family As announced by the Premier last Sunday there would be changes to visitors entering an aged care facility including an increase from 1 person per household to now a single household being able to visit a resident at a facility in Regional Vic. We have recently received clarification from the Victorian Department of Health on changes:... ALL visitors (including Staff) must wear a fitted face mask (unless an exception applies) at ALL times. ALL visitors must not enter a residential facility if they are unwell or have even the mildest symptoms of COVID-19: o Fever or temperature over 37.5 degrees o Loss or change in sense of smell or taste, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, and/or runny nose. (negative test is required) o Have COVID-19 and are isolating or quarantining o Been in contact with someone with COVID-19 and are required to self-isolate o Have been tested for COVID-19 and not yet received your result o Have arrived in Australia from overseas in the last 14 days. Under 16 year olds are no longer excluded from being a visitor. A visitor under the age of 16 however must also comply with all visitation requirements ie being symptom free, hand washing/sanitizing and wear a mask (compulsory for all persons 12 years +) A single household can visit. However, the 4m x 4m rule applies for indoor spaces and 2mx2m density rule for outdoors. Given individual room spacing at Woorayl Lodge (including lounge areas), we will have to continue to allowing 1 to 2 visitors only depending on the room size. (Please call to discuss other possibilities including accessing outside areas). Socially distancing of 1.5m continues. ALL visitors (including staff) must read, complete and sign on entry a new Declaration Form each visit. Due to limited staffing, we continue to request that visits, where possible, be done during Business Hours 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and that visitors ring ahead to book a time to visit. Please note that visiting restrictions differ for residents who are at end of life stage or visitors who are providing daily living or emotional support in consultation with Management. It is anticipated that as restrictions continue to ease, our volunteers will be welcomed back into our home in the near future. I will be looking to set up specific infection control training for all volunteers. As we continue to live with Covid-19, I wish to thank families, staff and the wider Woorayl Lodge Community for your support and your understanding, noting that restrictions as outlined above (as a minimum) will continue for an extended period of time and we must always remain vigilant and never complacent of the possible impact of COVID-19. Regards Shane Jenkins General Manager

04.01.2022 Dear Woorayl Lodge Family In these uncertain times, it is important that you know what we are doing at Woorayl Lodge to respond and closely monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Our vulnerable residents and team member’s safety and wellbeing will remain our highest priority and we have precautions in place to maximise the safety of our homes. ... What we are doing to protect our residents and team? We have implemented a Visitor Screening Process (for all families, volunteers, contractors and deliveries) and restricted entry where visitors are required to hand sanitize and have a temperature check prior to entry. General resident visiting hours are between 10am and 2pm. Families can plan visits outside these hours on an appointment only basis. Due to the inability to ensure children have utilized proper hand hygiene and cough and/or sneeze etiquette, we request that children do not visit. Entry has been prohibited to our home if any visitor has: In the last 14 days returned from any international travel or travel on a cruise ship; Had any close contact with any person that has been symptomatic or awaiting testing or results of coronavirus; Are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, dry cough, body aches, headaches, sore throat, runny nose, tiredness and shortness of breath; and You have a temperature over 37.5 degrees. We are heavily focused on our infection control protocols, hand hygiene training and increased cleaning is occurring. All staff members are subject to self-monitor their personal wellbeing prior to commencement of duties. Peace of mind Rest assured in these challenging times that we have our residents’ best interest at heart. We understand your heightened concern and any anxiety you have. Our team members are working very hard to ensure that we are providing the very best care and a homely and safe environment for our residents at all times, now more than ever. We have additional supports in place to ensure that everyone can feel comfortable and talk through any concerns that they may have. To reduce any administrative burden and through traffic we ask those who pay accounts by cheque or cash to arrange direct transfer by your bank, look at setting aside specific times and days where administrative staff can collect payments outside the home and will utilize both emails and our facebook page for alerts etc and would encourage family members to contact other family members to keep them updated on any alerts and changes in protocol at Woorayl Lodge.
