16.01.2022 If you are an employer, you are responsible for developing a return to work plan with the goal of returning your injured worker to their pre-injury position. If you intend to dismiss the worker before this goal can be achieved, you must give 28 days’ notice to the worker and to WorkCover WA. If the worker is receiving weekly payments, you must continue to pay them, along with any rehabilitation and treatment expenses. 15.01.2022 If you are a worker waiting for a decision on your workers’ compensation claim, you will need to pay for your own medical treatment unless otherwise agreed with your employer. If your claim is accepted, your employer will then reimburse you up to the recommended amount set by WorkCover WA. Keep copies of any invoices and receipts to pass on to your employer if your claim is accepted. 04.01.2022 All employers are required to establish an Injury Management System: a written description of the steps to be followed when an injury occurs in the workplace. Employers can be fined up to $2,000 if a documented Injury Management System is not available for inspection.
