17.01.2022 So the battle over commercial netting in Roebuck bay has been won and thats awesome news for recreational fishing, the ecology of the bay and tourism for Broome. However, gill netting is still being done and on a large scale. Last week a net was put across the mouth of Dampier Creek where over 80 barra were caught. This goes well beyond personal use. Willie Creek and Barred are also continuously under pressure from netting. We as a community need to push for total bans on gill netting and drag netting no matter what colour you are. (I appreciate this is a sensitive matter but this has to happen) Please report any suspicious behaviour to the fisheries as they are keen to know whats happening. This practice is unsustainable, unacceptable and needs to stop. Get behind this Broomites!!!!!!

13.01.2022 Today I spoke with senior officials relating to the proposed marine park in Roebuck bay. Public opinion is needed on this discussion, please note comments made will be used to influence the powers to be. To completely rule out the re-introduction of commercial netting (say by another government elect) it is proposed Roebuck bay ( excluding port authority territory) will be zoned marine park. This DOES NOT mean we cannot fish but simply excludes the bay permantely of commercial fishing which will include fracking done on nearby land that affects water pockets linked to the bay. Opinions on this please, including possibilities of anchor free zones including disaster rock, bag and size limits eg max length for threaded, use of singles rather than trebles ect. Cheers guys
