21.01.2022 A common concern for parents of children with disabilities is what will happen when their children become adults. It’s difficult for adults with disabilities to... find employment not because they aren’t capable, but because they are often exploited or overlooked because employers think they aren’t capable. Increasingly, people with disabilities, or their families, are taking control of their own futures. One Illinois mom is the latest, opening a bakery for her son, and hopefully others with disabilities in the future. To explore more about opportunities to train/work in NSW please contact our Workskills/Workability offices via https://www.facebook.com/workskills4u/ www.liveaction.org/news/mother-bakery-special-needs-son/ #removethebarriers #workskills #workability

18.01.2022 Employment Success !! All three of these Workskills Clients have now exited our program as independent workers after 52 weeks of Employment, with Marco Polo, Woonona and Unanderra. These positions were created to make the dining experience at each facility, a little more like a 5 Star Restaurant. The residents often comment on how lovely the tables look. The tablecloths and napkins are ironed daily, the tables are set with a different napkin fold and centrepiece, creating warm... and inviting dining areas. Workskills have assisted with their success by offering ongoing support and travel assistance to the Unanderra Site.Annette, Susan and Vanessa all enjoy their work and seeing the smiling faces on the elderly residents at mealtime. This idea was a collaboration between Workskills Business Develop Officer, Julie and the Facility Managers. The service is offered weekdays and weekends. Congratulations to all involved and we wish these clients all the very best with their Employment. #workskills #workability
