25.01.2022 Today Paul met with Brighton and business owner Benjamin and the rest of the team at Wynnum's Pelican's Nest and completed Brighton's Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. Brighton is keen to continue to use his aquired skills and knowledge in the industry. Visit the team at the best bayside fish and chip shop who are currently trading 7am-7pm offering both cafe style and takeaway service. Congratulations Brighton



24.01.2022 Work Skills trainer Mark is with Jess at Rainbow Beach Sports Club doing some practical in seafood unit. Pineapple glazed Red Emperor and summer salad. Herb and macadamia crusted Hervey Bay scallops. Gee my job is hard sometimes! Fantastic work Jess! AGAIN!!!!

23.01.2022 Today we met Executive chef Simon Street and newly signed apprentice Douglas at the Regatta Hotel. Douglas is excited to begin his path to his cookery qualification at the Iconic Brisbane riverside experience. With its two-meter long flame grill, guests dining experience is next level as they observe the theater of chefs cooking the restaurants signature dry-aged steaks. 23.01.2022 Paul met with newly certified Chef Henri and Chef David at The Bearded Dragon Hotel at Tamborine where he has completed his Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. Henri has gained experience at a number of different venues across his apprenticeship. Come out and enjoy the country fair and fresh air dining in the grounds of the hotel at the base of Mt Tamborine. Congratulations Henri



22.01.2022 Hi all, It's great to see students that had lost their positions due to Covid joining new venues as confidence and customers return to the industry. I met Sep and the team at Alcove cafe deli and it's so exciting to see Shane keen to get back into his training at the venue and gain exposure to a different service style.

20.01.2022 Work Skills Hospitality legend Mark Langley was working with Jack today at the Cootharabar at Boreen Point. As part of his practical for his pastry cakes and breads unit, we made Brioche buns from scratch. Tuned out awesome, rich and buttery. Excellent work Jack!

18.01.2022 Riaan was at Bribie RSL training students and in one of our practicals Bianca prepared and presented lambs fry, pan fried juniper Berry Kangaroo and my personal favourite sweetbreads with pea puree, mushroom duxelle and hollindaise sauce very tasty. Great menu here to try out.

17.01.2022 Hospitality trainer Paul met Shardyn, business owner Elissa and the team at Tree Change Cafe, Fernvale. Shardyn completed his Certificate III in Hospitality today and is excelling in his profession. 13.01.2022 Paul met with Tylar and the team at the Hub cafe today. Tylar completed a practical assessment to prepare a fresh pasta dough and presented three different pasta dishes. Check out her spinach and feta filled tortellini tossed in a tomato napoli sauce, fettucine carbonara and farfelle tossed in burnt butter crumbled feta and tossed walnuts.

11.01.2022 What a great day for training. Riaan spent the day at Dusty Hill Vinyard training students in Commercial Cookery. Definitely a place to stop at for great wines and amazing food, all made fresh on site by Head Chef Ryan and his amazing apprentices and staff.

10.01.2022 Work Skills Hospitality trainer Riaan, spent the last two days in Goomeri training five students at Dusty Hill Vineyard, Joes Grand Hotel and the best bakery in Queensland Goomeri Bakery. Riaan was telling us he enjoyed one of the best 300g rump steaks for dinner he'sever had, cooked by one of the 3rd year apprentices and he cant wait to get back there for more!

Battered and crumbed fish goujons. Thinking outside the square, no breadcrumbs! Why not use cornflakes? Tasted great too. Great effort Von!

09.01.2022 Jack's on a roll! As part of the pastry and desserts units, Jack prepared profiteroles with chantilly cream and hot chocolate sauce for Mark. Can't wait to tell you how good it tasted.

07.01.2022 Today we met Alistair and Head chef Tony at the Beenleigh RSL and completed Alistair's Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. We have seen Alistair across a number of different venues and he has grown in confidence and is looking forward to continuing to learn. Congratulations Alistair.

06.01.2022 Today Riaan spent time with Ebonnie training on the stocks, soups and sauces unit. Ebonnie made a few different stocks and soups and her Roast garlic and pumpkin soup was amazing and a big hit with everyone.

06.01.2022 Riaan spent the day with Michele and Scott at Love Lee cooking Cafe in Atherton. We trained on serving customers, making gluten free breads and non alcoholic drinks. What a great little Cafe and awesome staff. The food and coffee is amazing. Yes, Work Skills deliver training in Hospitality amongst other qualifications all across our great State of Queensland and have been for 30 years! Thanks Michele and Scott for choosing us!

05.01.2022 Hospitality trainer Riaan headed out to Thomas Corner Eatery to do a practical training session with apprentice Chef Seb. Seb was showing off his oyster shucking skills for a lucky lunch time diner. Seb is under the watchful eye of a fantastic executive Chef in Gene Quinlan, and is getting very close to completing his commercial cookery qualification. Well done Seb.
