15.01.2022 R U OK Day! Take a moment to reach out and ask your family, friends and colleagues are you ok if you have a niggling feeling they are not behaving as they normally would, seem out of sorts, are agitated or withdrawn. Mental health issues are likely to affect almost half of the Australian population at some stage in their lives, so reaching out and encouraging someone to speak is the kind thing to do.... Don’t be afraid, it’s all about listening and being there rather than providing answers. Check out https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask for more information. #ruokday #workventures #mentalhealth #bekind https://workventures.com.au/

WorkVentures and NSW Department of Education are thrilled for our trainee, Kim Eastwood, the Winner of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award for the Western Sydney/Blue Mountains region. In what can only be described as an extremely tough competition, Kim represents what a traineeship can do for your career when you apply your efforts and take every possible opportunity to learn and grow. ... At completion of her Business traineeship, Kim has secured a role within the NSW Department of Education. We have no doubt that she will continue to develop even further, and be a strong role model for others. Congratulations Kim! 06.01.2022 WorkVentures Throwback! In 2002, Westpac partnered with WorkVentures in what was then an innovative scheme, setting up the Connect IT Low Cost PC Program. As computers within Westpac were upgraded, the superseded hardware would be donated to WorkVentures. Our highly skilled technicians would then strip and refurbish them, creating an as-new quality computer that could be sold to low-income families. To date, over 50,000 Australian’s can now access technology thanks to the ge...nerous support of our partners at Westpac. https://workventures.com.au/our-history/ #socialenterprise #notforprofit #lowcostcomputers #westpac #history #throwback #workventures #refurbishedpc See more
06.01.2022 WorkVentures Throwback! He’s been called the father of Social Enterprise in Australia, but to us, our founder, the late Steve Lawrence AO, was an inspirational human being, committed to serving the community and providing opportunity for anyone living with a disadvantage. As well as founding WorkVentures, he was also integral to the creation of 13 Not for Profit organisations including Job Futures, United Way and Social Ventures Australia. In 2010 he was appointed an Officer... in the Order of Australia for service to the community through leadership roles in the development and implementation of not for profit ventures to create social change, particularly for youth and the long-term unemployed. Steve passed away in 2012 but his legacy is strong and continues through the organisations he founded and the dedication of those who, like him, believe that business can be a force for good within the community. https://workventures.com.au/our-history/ #workventures #socialenterprise #youthemployment #history #throwback #workventures #youth #jobfutures #unitedway #socialventuresaustralia See more

05.01.2022 WorkVentures Throwback! In 1986 WorkVentures and Microsoft won the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership Longevity Award. WorkVentures was invited by the Federal Government to set up the first Information Technology Centre in Surry Hills. Computers were still new and something many job applicants had little or no experience using.... Microsoft then came on board, providing computers and software, while we provided training as well as low-cost options for those households without access to computers. In 2005 in recognition of their 20 year collaboration to bring technology skills and resources to disadvantaged Australians. https://workventures.com.au/our-history/ #history #throwback #microsoft #workventures #socialenterprise #lowcostcomputers #technology
