22.01.2022 Congratulations to Oh Do Kwan Head Instructor Carmela Hartnett who won a Bronze Medal at the European Online poomsae International Competition. Carmela demonstrated 4 mandatory poomsae, two in semi finals winning her way to finals and two in finals winning her way to 3rd place behind the 2018 World Championship Silver medal winner. Carmela's first International medal was in 1986 Asian Championships in sparring and since then she has won more than 100 International medals and still challenging herself through seminars, training and competitions. Online competition a new experience, 1200 competitors, who would have imagined in 1986 Congratulations to other medal winner from Australia Barry Jordan, Gary Thorpe and Rob Schembri

22.01.2022 The World Wide Campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign Has ended, however domestic violence continues and is a every day problem. Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan is pleased that again a number of our clubs have taken on supporting through the Pink Belt scholarship program in a small but we hope meaningful way toward helping eliminate Violence Against Women. As we are the club with the highest number of high Dan's in Australia even though the principle founder is a... male, Mr Ross Hartnett we strive to show through our actions and record our support for females as equals, who should never have to face violence or bias. It is even more important for us in that over the years we have found even in a club so overtly supportive of women, accusations of domestic Violence against at least one past member and on occasion disrespect toward female instructors. Do not turn a blind eye to these kinds of attitudes and behaviour. Be supportive and help were you can in these instances. We are glad that Oh Do Kwan and its instructors can contribute in a positive way to women in need. We look forward to welcoming our new scholarship holders over the next few weeks. https://youtu.be/Yue4oGa8RZ8 See more

19.01.2022 Last weekend Australian Oh Do Kwan GM's Ross and Carmela Hartnett officiated at the US International Open in Las Vegas as poomsae judges. Gm Ross got to judge the P20 Para poomsae which was inspiring to watch, he also got to judge the 18-30 Female division which had approx 130 competitors. GM Carmela spent 1 and 1/2 days judging freestyle. Both also got to do various pairs divisions. It was a great experience and opportunity to keep up with elite forms competition. It was a change for Carmela who has competed previously in the US Open 6 times winning four times Gold, silver and bronze medal one time each. This time GM Carmela decided to rest after winning the French open two weeks before and judge at US open instead of competing.
