25.01.2022 The story of @sal_kaz_pole - part 1/2: When I first walked in the door of @worldofpole in February 2019, I was a broken person to say the least. I came in with the intention of trying a new sport because sport was always my best coping mechanism in difficult times, and gym just didn’t work out for me. Tuesday night introductory class was led by the very gorgeous and talented dancer @lenka_lon I thought to myself, if I can do a quarter of the stuff this girl does, I’ll be ...happy. My second class was by someone totally different, I came in and the first thing I noticed was the obvious of course, but I managed to spend the entire class trying to do my best professional eye contact and minimum conversation. The instructor was @debzillah That evening I drove home thinking, bugger it, if she can do this shit with one arm, what is stopping me to do the same with two. 10.01.2022 The story of @sal_kaz_pole - part 2/2: "I signed up for unlimited membership, because, realistically, what is the point in going one day a week if I want real results? A few weeks went by and I realised I was not just going to any pole class; there was a real sense of community and belonging in this place. Perhaps I was too proud to admit it at the time, but as a person who came from another county, no matter how much time passes by, you never really feel a sense of belong...ing. @worldofpole gave me that. All the instructors are absolutely amazing and helpful and, when you need it, they will push you to reach your full potential. So along the way, I lost a few friends and that is ok as well because I guess they were never really true friends to begin with. Then 2020 came with all its mighty glory, and after taking a three months break from dance I came back thinking, there’s some catching up to do now and there was a little bit more of me than before lockdown. Being the random decision maker that I am, I thought let’s take this up a notch or two. Showcase performance was on the horizon and I decided to challenge myself. I bought a private lesson package with one of our brand new instructors, @klaudiakrystal_ . Guess what? The ugly duckling is now a beautiful swan, metaphorically speaking. Klaudia helped to choreograph a routine suitable for my current fitness level and I have recorded my first performance. So there you have it, if you set your mind on something and work hard at it, anything is possible. World of Pole is part of my everyday life now.
