25.01.2022 Tech Tip beware of lube bar! Often pipes are cut on worksites using a chainsaw. Unfortunately though, a well maintained chainsaw will have bar lube to extend the life of the chain and lube. When cutting, the lube is transferred to the pipe ends hiding in the rough edges. Although the pipe ends are then cleaned with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), this doesn’t remove chainsaw lube. The end of the pipes are then faced, applying the lube to the heating plate. While the weld may take, there are no guarantees it will holder in the medium to longer term.

25.01.2022 It’s just not large machines that we make, our range of smaller diameter Australian-designed and engineered equipment is portable, while still featuring the quality construction that makes it long lasting in the field. In these photographs, leading Australian plumbing company PCD Group is using its Worldpoly 315LF on one of several new residential housing estate projects.

24.01.2022 Our customers are an innovative lot. To further increase the functionality of their Worldpoly equipment so that it exactly meets their unique application requirements, some of our customers choose to modify their machines. Starting with a tough and well-engineered product has allowed these owners to develop a range of trailers, trolleys and custom frames allowing their Worldpoly machines to do an even better job.

22.01.2022 The old adage that ‘you get what you pay for’, certainly holds true in the world of butt welding equipment. To save a few dollars, some companies are purchasing cheap copy machines these photos are a good example of what quickly happens to these poor quality machines after minimal use. These heating plates are well on the way to failing and jeopardising the quality of their welds.

12.01.2022 Tech Tip. There are some unusual factors that can affect the quality of a butt weld. One of these is the presence of PDMS (silicon-based organic polymers) in the air. PDMS is commonly used in defoamers, herbicide penetrants and in car care products to bring out shine or repel water. If any such products are being used within metres of the proposed pipe join, the weld simply won’t take as the silicon particles in the air will affect the welding process.

01.01.2022 Not every work site is convenient or user friendly. Spare a thought for one of our Chilean contracting clients who several years ago had to deal with the challenges of laying 400mm pipe on a rocky and uneven forest floor. Fortunately they were able to erect scaffold and establish an elevated work platform for their Worldpoly450 machine allowing the project to be completed safely and efficiently.
