24.01.2022 In celebration of NAIDOC Week we are looking to Australia’s first scientists and paying respect to the way their unique wisdom has contributed to contemporary scientific conversations and collaborations. Did you know Aboriginal people were our first botanists, chemists, geologists and zoologists? They developed a deep knowledge of the dangers, possibilities and dynamics of the natural world that enabled them to manage a diverse environment for over 60,000 years. This image ...is of a Jawun (bicornual basket) that had many uses including processing poisonous plants for consumption. You can check this out in the Discovery Centre next time you’re at Queensland Museum. #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek

19.01.2022 This year we launched the WSFB Podcast, and we’re still pretty excited about it! We started small just 5 minutes for each episode, but we went large with the interviewees including one of Australia’s leading mathematicians, Cheryl Praeger. . In the 1960’s, Cheryl wasn’t expected to become a mathematician, in fact she was discouraged from studying maths. Lucky for us she has never been greatly bothered by expectations and has gone on to become a leading light in mathematics, best known for her works in group theory, algebraic graph theory and combinatorial designs. . Binge all episodes now via Apple or Spotify (search for Science Revealed) or find them via our website at https://bit.ly/2T2vk6F
19.01.2022 The horrors of the bushfires earlier this year greatly impacted much of the Australian community.
