17.01.2022 What has ten pairs of thumbs and is dough'ficially one year old? this bakery Last year on January 9th, we opened our doors to the world, with all our fingers and toes crossed. We were all nervous for our first day of running a small business. It was the day Guy Reminis, the owner, had been working toward for many years, and it was finally here. Not knowing what to expect, we just hoped above all else that our product would put smiles on the faces of every customer who came... in and gave us a go. Well, we hit the ground running and haven't stopped since It's a bit of an understatement to say that we couldn't have picked a worse year to try our luck It feels like a dream, remembering the bushfires that were raging all around us as we were painting our walls and putting up shelves. Fires came a little too close for comfort and on several occasions, pushed our opening date back. The Shoalhaven was hit hard by the fires, but during that time we witnessed nothing but strength and kindness from the local community and the greater Shoalhaven area. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the selfless firies who protected the area during that time. It was a whole year ago now, but we will never forget their sacrifice. There was a very real chance we wouldn't have opened at all if they hadn't been working to protect the Worrigee area. Rolling from bushfires into floods, the pandemic and then a recession has been a dizzying, elative and incredibly challenging experience for the whole team, to say the least. Keeping the shop open and growing has only been possible with the support and help from our loyal clientele. We want to thank our everyday regulars who come in for a yarn and brighten our days. If it wasn't for all your continued support, Guy wouldn't have been able to afford the double knee replacement he needed to keep working. Personally, he would like to thank every single customer who has given us feedback and helped to spread the word about our product. He would also like to thank every family member and friend who pitched in to get the shop up and running. Finally, we wouldn't have gotten this far without our dedicated, talented team who has stuck with us throughout this first year. We know the work can be challenging, and working alongside Guy and his banter presents its own unique challenges, but we appreciate each and every employee for their assistance to make our dream a reality. So, with all that out of the way, here's to Worrigee Bakehouse for it's first year of business Bring on 2021!
