15.01.2022 There's a secret to ANY type of change (cellular, personal, organisational, global). "You never change things by fighting against the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete." - Buckminster Fuller... This quote came up at a #changemakers conference #beyondparadigms, because today, more than ever, individuals and corporations alike, fuelled by passion, fight for change. They resist what is and perceive that dismantling is the way forward. This is in CONTRADICTION with Bucky's advice. Our resistance is merely reflected, in the individual as stress and in the collective as tension. Any 'changes' made in resistance are temporary and last only as long as fuel is continually added to the fire. On the individual level, resistance is correlated with fear. It arrises to let you know that if you keep doing what you are doing, things are going to get worse, not better... or so it believes. The solution, as Bucky pointed out, is to look for evidence that a change will make things better. Here's some example of the voice and beliefs of resistance; "hey, this new career idea... seems pretty average... because you'll get paid less, so you wouldn't be able to afford to travel as much, and so you wouldn't meet as many cool people, and you probably wouldn't have as many friends..." or "moving house... seems pretty risky... you'll loose all your community and have no-one, and you'll get lost all the time and so you wouldn't have any time, and it'll cost you so much that you wouldn't get to do anything fun with anyone" It's a choice, to start looking for an attractive solution, instead of resisting the lousy problem. For the examples above, a person experiencing resistance could ask themselves; "how might changing career get me more money" or "how might moving house save me more time" Then, no action is required, other than to keep looking for evidence, openly. When enough evidence is found, a new model of reality is built in the mind and if the mind sees that as more attractive then the current paradigm, it will be attracted into action, without requiring any effort. So if we're desperate to make change, then all we need to is look for what we're attracted to. Sound fun?

10.01.2022 Enjoy! Just a laugh I had while visiting some friends last week. What do you think the purpose of ice baths is?

10.01.2022 I’ve had some downtime so practiced a few crazy things. Full edit coming soon.

09.01.2022 The Portal is a movie demonstrating the power of meditation (inspired by The Secret) that also points at how your person practice is a vital contribution to creating a better future for all life. #theportal Produced by Tom Cronin, directed by Jacqui Fifer and featuring philosopher and big thinker Daniel Schmatenberger, this movie subtly parallels our personal crisis with the existential crisis we are experiencing collectively. Meditation is the tool to resolve both. Here’s ho...Continue reading

09.01.2022 Why Even The Cells in Our Body Resist Change and How to Overcome That Resistance. In the past few decades scientists have discovered chemical molecules like dopamine and serotonin and have correlated their presence with the mood, outlook and positivity of an individual. These discoveries also revealed why our bodies resist change and more importantly, how to work with your flow to change your bodies natural chemical balance, lifting you default to a better feeling state all t...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Despair. This week I’ve been at a conference where people shared their feelings of despair that prevents them from taking action. Then a solution was offered. The room was heavy (but intensely alive), with two leading 16 year old climate crisis activists on stage, sharing the astounding progress they have been making leading movements. To a 16 year old, anyone over 22 falls in the ‘old’ category, so here we were, a bunch of oldies listening to the next generation. A few pas...sionate adults asked What can we do to help you? And, one vulnerably confessed, I want to help but I feel paralysed with despair. It was very real. Then, with emotions high, one of the youth on stage said the solution was to have faith. This idea has been playing in my head for a while. So far as our planet goes I’ve learnt a term that has helped me. I’m an apocaloptamist. The apocalypse is here and now, it’s the end of the world as we know it. But I’m optimistic about it. Somehow, life will persevere. Somehow, not in resistance to pressure, but because of it, we will collectively create a solution that’s new and better by stepping into the unknown. But it does take new action. We either grow or die. And if new actions are not flowing, then all we can continue to expect is more of the same. The best thing any of us can do is free up our minds to shift our mind Beyond Paradigms. Thanks for a great conference. Hope this gets you all thinking!

04.01.2022 Fear of the unknown... does not exist. If you want to break out of an old habit pattern or start taking new actions, you’ll first have to neutralise the charge on what your mind believes lies in the unknown. The mind continually seeks to keep you safe from harm and is always doing its best to guess what might happen next. That’s it’s job! ... For example, if you were walking along a cliff edge, the mind will make you feel fearful in the present by guessing that you may slip and fall. Our survival doesn’t just depend on physical threats, like falling of cliffs, and today we are much more likely to fear non-physical threats. For thousands of years, an individual’s survival greatly depended on support from their tribe, especially children. A child abandoned has little chance of survival and for this reason, the mind has learnt to fear abandonment as much as cliff edges. For similar evolutionary reasons, the mind fears being wrong. So here’s how to work with the mind to dispel fear of the unknown. 1. Be very clear about what you fear might happen if you were to take a new action. 2. Set an intention to look for evidence that you may be wrong and that the opposite is true. This is just like balancing a charge. For example, you may feel like speaking up at work, but fear that you’ll be made fun of (abandoned). That’s holding a charge. In this example, all you’d need to do is keep looking for evidence that speaking up would get you to a position where people ask for your opinion even more. That’s balancing a charge. The best time to try something new is when you feel intensity. It’s at those times we are normally reactive that trying anything new at all will bring surprising results and new experiences, fast. Where is the space in your life that demands something new?
