25.01.2022 Wounded Heroes were today blessed by the amazing gifts put together by the Gaythorne Legacy Care Group. The wonderful members have been collecting presents and other items for us to gift to the veterans and veteran families, who will be joining us for our Christmas Day Lunch. Thank you to Peter, Joyclen and all the caring members who gave this incredible support not only to us, but more importantly to those who have served and are now needing support.

24.01.2022 Heroes deserve our support especially our ADF & Veteran families

24.01.2022 Wounded Heroes was at Ipswich Cemetery yesterday to join with many other defence and community groups placing Australian flags on the graves of the fallen and passed veterans. Thank you to Donna Cavanagh, Oggy Smith, CSI Ipswich, River 94.9, Young Veterans Ipswich, Legacy SMC, Redbank Holistic Venter, Veterans Care, Ipswich Police, Raceview Complete Denture Care and also the Ipswich community for assisting and showing our past veterans this mark of respect. This event could not have happened without the support and approval of Ipswich City Council and War Graves Australia.

22.01.2022 Visiting the wonderful Wolsten Park estate this morning to see a great project in action - Haven for Heroes is a partnership with Wounded Heroes Australia & D...GT Employment & Training to provide families and those from a variety of backgrounds with a job and purpose. 22.01.2022 Thanks for your support mate

21.01.2022 This Remembrance Day, we are launching Veteran of the Day. Arguably some of our most important work, Veteran of the Day is a moving collection of stories told by Veterans, and presented by notable Australian journalist Steve Price. On our brand new podcast series, we acknowledge that our Veterans still have stories to tell, and this new series has saved those stories for all Australians to hear. Dedicated to all veterans, past and present, who served in the Australian Military. We honour your service. Thank you today and every day. Our first story features the incredible story of Brendan Nikolajew, which can be found on the new website dedicated specifically to Veteran of the Day. Please visit https://veteranoftheday.org.au/ to start hearing the moving stories of these veterans.

21.01.2022 Tonight Wounded Heroes Australia was a finalist in the Defence Industry Awards. Proud to be representing this outstanding organisation on behalf of our CEO Martin Shaw who is working tirelessly in Sydney. To our Volunteer winners Miranda, Sue and Monique, we love you dearly for all you do

21.01.2022 Congratulations - truly deserved

21.01.2022 Presented by Steve Price, our Veteran of the Day is now live! Listen to our very first Veteran Podcast with Brendan Nikolajew on our website now https://veteranoftheday.org.au/ I joined the Army in 2008 as an RAA Gunner. I was one of 7 Gunners selected as part of a 15 man contingency sent to England in February 2010 to train with the British Airborne Royal Horse Artillery for 7 months and deployed to Helmand Province in Afghanistan in the same year.... To be a Gunner and do this job in a war, was an experience very hard to explain sometimes. The men I fought beside and trained with prior to the deployment are brothers by choice and i’ll always have the highest of respect for each one of them. I’m glad I got the opportunity and i’d do it all again. We returned home in April 2011, 14 months in total away from home. See more

20.01.2022 Thank you for your Service - leaving your families in service of our Country

20.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE! This year will be running a different event in Brisbane, which will be streamed live, including the Sunset Memorial Service. This year we are going National with our Backyard Sleepout around Australia on 24th October 2020, to coincide, as always, around Veterans Mental Health Week, to be launched on 7th September 2020.... Learn more about this great cause at our website: https://www.woundedheroes.org.au/exercise-stone-pillow #exsp20

18.01.2022 Join Santa and the Wounded Heroes family at Wacol, Brisbane for a free Christmas lunch. OPEN TO ALL current ADF Members; ADF Members and their families; Veterans; Veterans & their families; Homeless Veterans; Veterans currently in hospital Don't spend Christmas alone, we can't wait to see you

16.01.2022 Always trying to find ways to fundraise for Veterans & their families in financial crisis, homeless or at risk of homlessness. If this is your thing, or not, at least book and come see what we do here in SEQ, to support homeless veterans around Australia. Yup, we are National - not State based and just crack-on.

16.01.2022 I had the pleasure of visiting Martin Shaw, CEO of Wounded Heroes Australia at the Wacol base today. 48.4% of veterans discharging from the ADF develop mental h...ealth issues within the first 12 months of discharge. That has a huge flow on effect to families and to our community in general. Wounded Heroes provide tangible and practical support to many of those veterans. Due to the pandemic, many of the usual fundraising activities haven’t been held. This year, Wounded Heroes are running Australia’s only National Sleepout for Homeless Veterans on Saturday October 24! Please share and spread the word far and wide. For more information go to www.woundedheroes.org.au See more

07.01.2022 Happy New Year to our Wounded Heroes Family. 2020 presented many challenges that we are all aware. 2021 we drive to create awareness of our mission, our compassion, hope & purpose for veterans and their families in financial crisis, homeless or at risk of homelessness. We never forget why you support us. While others focus on themselves, we focus on our families.... We have many new community partnerships to announce - we see no point in replicating what others do so well. This is what the Australian community wants - working together and spending your valuable donations for their intended purpose. Our goal in 2021 is to keep our focus but need your help in awareness. If we can find them - we WILL help, as we understand crisis better than anyone. Fundraising - yes; awareness critical. So please share our journey together as far & as wide as you can. God Bless you all in 2021 - together we can save veteran lives. Martin Shaw See more
