25.01.2022 COQUI . An oversized, double layer design of natural raffia, sepia bone and pieces with hand rolled clay beads in matte white. . It’s perfect if you have a large wall to feature it on, or over a bedhead. It can also be hung more narrowly suit the space and achieve a completely different look. ... . This is the ORIGINAL design. I’ve had it bought to my attention that at recent trade fairs there’s a really bad imposter getting around. I mean...really bad it’s imported from Indonesia, the raffia is ratty and they’ve used driftwood instead of cuttle. So firstly please don’t think it’s one of my pieces if you come across it (I’d never put such poor quality out there)...and secondly please don’t support them. Copying other people’s work is wrong full stop, but to be taking it offshore to have it made as cheaply as possible is as low as it can go. The onflow effect is that these bad, cheap rip-offs are bought back here....and completely undercut original artists and the value of their work. When they asked me to come up with a custom design for this space they gave me an overall brief of the space and some of the key (ie very beautiful) features. A big one was this stunning arch, which would be the first thing you see and would frame my design as you entered the room. As soon as I heard that I knew I needed to highlight it, and this design came straight to mind. I’m so happy they trusted me with it..I love the way the drape plays with the shape of the archway, and the scale is really something else...she’s a BIG one! . . .
