Decades later, men who survived that battle led a campaign to recognize Pitsenbarger's bravery, resulting in the presentation of the Medal of Honor to his parents at the National Museum of the United States Air Force on Dec. 8, 2000. 25.01.2022 Am starting to have an interest in landscapes, and how they are formed with the way light casts across them. Late afternoon sun on burn't forests and how regrowth is taking shape, especially in low lying areas. I guess it would be different if there had been no rain.

19.01.2022 Bill Biggarts final photograph, the one taken at 10:28:24 capturing the remains of the South Tower, was featured in countless publications and exhibited at the International Center of Photography in New York City, then at the National Museum of American History in 2002. Bill Biggarts equipment and belongings were also on display there and in 2008 at the Newseum in Washington DC.

But then commercially I have been lucky to work with some of the top drivers around and just have to get the money shot. But in saying that, it does give you an idea of what's required at times to get a great shot.

15.01.2022 Doing some research and I found this of interest. EU Vanity Fair editor, Ingrid Sischy, and legendary fashion photographer (and God, if I do say so myself) Patrick Demarchelier teamed up to pay retrospect to Dior by creating a book comprising of images of Dior's best couture moments over the decades. It is all photographed by Demarchelier himself and also incorporates the works of Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, and of previous head designer for Dior, Paul Galliano. From what I can tell from the preview, Demarchelier brilliantly and quite perfectly captured the essence of Dior and what its image is. 13.01.2022 On a snowy night in 1976, a Buick LeSabre was parked outside a White Tower hamburger restaurant in New York’s Meatpacking District. For photographer Langdon Clay, armed with a Leica and some Kodachrome film, it was an arresting moment. In Clay’s photograph of the scene, the empty car looks almost forlorn under the neon strip lighting. Around it, the street is empty. The only signs of life are the blurred figures inside the diner, presumably the car’s owners ordering food. Thi...s photograph is just one of many Clay shot between 1974 and 1976. In those years he documented parked cars, in Manhattan and Hoboken, in streets devoid of people and always at night. The title of each image includes the names of the cars, which are themselves evocative: Chevrolet Bel Air, Plymouth Duster, Gran Torino Sport. So, too, are the backdrops. One photograph shows a Buick Skylark on a shadowy street in Soho in 1976, in front of a small sandwich shop with the sign Pat’s Hot and Cold Heroes. Another has a Ford Galaxie 500 parked in front of the Carz-A-Poppin car wash on Houston and Broadway. Four decades later these lonely cars, and most of the businesses around them, are long gone. However, the photographer does have a book out titled: Cars New York City 1974 1976 check it out if interested.

11.01.2022 Born in Tokushima City in 1947, Hiroshi Nagai first gained experience as a graphic designer before launching his career as a freelance illustrator in 1978. His work is distinguished by his illustrations of crisp urban landscapes and tropical motifs, as seen on album covers such as Eiichi Ohtaki’s A Long Vacation and Niagara Song Book. Nagai’s publications include A Long Vacation (1979, CBS/Sony Publishing), Halation (1981, CBS/Sony Publishing) and Niagara Songbook (1982, Shog...akukan). He was awarded the Golden Disc as a special album cover prize for his work on A Long Vacation. Nagai’s style has gained iconic status and his work adorns album covers for numerous artists, including Naoya Matsuoka, Hiroshi Fujiwara/Hiroshi Kawanabe, Kiyotaka Sugiyama, Teen Runnings, ikkubaru, Sunny Day Service, and Kashif as well as the AOR breeze compilations. For someone who has been a traveler all of his life, and a bohemian to boot, it is a very interesting time. 06.01.2022 Under a reddened sky. A solo building in a stark environment on a rainy day can be transformed quite easily if you take the time and effort to think about it. These places are becoming rare sights as they are taken away, restored as living homes or laid waste, and apartment blocks built on revised subdivisions. As our world changes and people keep expanding it won't be long and these will all be faint memories of our history.

During the brutal regime of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, this form of expression and storytelling all but disappeared; at least 80 percent of artists, including shadow puppeteers, had been killed. Its Kosals quest to revive this nearly lost art and help it take center stage in Cambodias culture once more.
