25.01.2022 For me, Family Daycare is about connecting with each other and the community. Creating friendships and even family like relationships. Ensuring children feel safe and have a sense of belonging within their service. Guiding children through their preschool years to ensure they feel confident and happy to go on to their formal education. Providing children with the right tools to learn through play. Oh and most importantly, having loads of fun along the way

22.01.2022 Process focused art and craft is so much more beneficial to childrens learning. I can see my children love choosing what they want, they get excited when they complete what they set out to do and they are always so relaxed and calm during the process. I'm a bit of a builder myself so I compare it to being given flat pack instructions verse being given some timber, a drill, a circular saw and some screws. Oh the things I could create with that timber and the frustration I ...have with flat pack instructions If children are always given instructions this inhibits growth of their imagination, they loose confidence and their freedom to make choices. Let them choose, it doesnt matter what the final product looks like to you, all that matters is the process and how it makes the child feel. Its such a wonderful feeling to see a child so happy with their work they did all by themselves. Here is one of our little Christmas houses the children made. I gave them a block of timber, glue and a box of Christmas decorations, recycled cut up cards and a bunch of other craft stuff. The children loved making these and a little keepsake for parents with photo on one side. https://www.naeyc.org//pubs/tyc/fe/process-art-experiences

21.01.2022 We will remember

19.01.2022 ANZAC DAY In remembrance, This week we made some poppies for our entry and for the children to take home for their driveway. A wreath for our entry gate and Anzac cookies today wrapped in an envelope to represent the letters mailed to soldiers.

17.01.2022 Our favourite pastime is reading story books, whether we read one on one or in a group. Last week we reread brown bear what do you see? The children love this simple repetitive story. It helps develop early literacy and by remembering the words the children can then read this story independently. They will not only remember the animals but also helps with colour recognition. The children also made a story wheel to take home to read to their families. We also played a treasure hunt game where the children then had to read the story with what cards they had found.

13.01.2022 If your child is sick, keep them at home. For children under 5 years, if they have symptoms like a runny nose, fever, cough or sore throat, call your GP. In an... emergency, please call 000 or go to your closest emergency department. For more information: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/symptoms-and-testing

11.01.2022 We’ve all learnt new habits during COVID-19, and been reminded that getting healthier is about progress, not perfection. So no matter how big or small, every win is a step towards building healthier habits for you and your family.

05.01.2022 Parents, carers and guardians take note! Babies and children need to be watched carefully during heat waves as they can overheat and dehydrate quickly. Follow t...hese tips: - breastfeed or bottle-feed babies more often - offer children water regularly - dress them in cool clothing - protect them from the sun with hats and sunscreen - never leave them in the car - if your child is sick (fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or even a mild cold), they need extra attention to ensure they remain well hydrated and don’t overheat. See your GP if your child is unwell or call 000 in an emergency. Get more tips to Beat the Heat here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//babies-children-hot-weather

02.01.2022 Students across NSW are returning to school this week, but if your child is not feeling well, please keep them at home. Even if they have mild COVID-19 symptom...s, ensure they stay in and get tested immediately. Call your GP or visit a testing clinic. If you visit a public testing clinic, check on the website that they test primary or secondary school aged children. When you get tested for COVID-19 it’s free, quick and easy. Most people in NSW receive their test results within 24 hours. Students with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school. Let’s all do our part to keep our NSW schools safe and open. For more information about COVID-19 testing for your child visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-prote/symptoms-and-testing
