23.01.2022 CAPO Records updated from the Anzac Day Competition. Website updates may take a little longer.
19.01.2022 8 DAYS AND WE CLOSE! In 8 days the AWPC World Championships invitations to those who placed top 3 will CLOSE. At that point the places of 4,5 and 6 and so on wi...ll be offered your place if you havnt got it together to get your entry in . In other words - if its not in by the 18th June we will give your place to someone else regardless of whether you didnt read the invitation properly or not. Also on the 18th, the single lifts will go live - all the information for our British lifters is on the web site regarding the single lifts for those who didnt make it for an invite and will be offered out to the lower places for the opportunity of lifting at the World Championships where we still have spaces from the full power guys that didnt want to do single lifts as well. IF you happen to be one of the people that will be beaten with a bench bar who went off and read the international entries form - the OTHER countries, not GB closing date is different - this is NOT yours!! AND I have pointed that out in a draconian and semi threatening manor on the web site..... which includes the bench bar reference............. I so know someone is going to say they thought the closing date is the 30th June................ www.britishpowerliftingunion.co.uk/competitions See more

10.01.2022 Hello! If anyone down under is interested, we are hosting the AWPC Worlds with shine and bling and heavy lifting (almost a rhyme) in Manchester! https://www.facebook.com/events/1717649854980620/ If admin could please share this also, otherwise it drowns in the feed. Thank you!
09.01.2022 Hey Everyone, just a quick update. It's taking a little longer to get the first women's belts produced, but I should have it inhand and pic's to show off next W...ednesday. We are also starting to get in some great support from sponsors. There are others that have also commited to supporting the WPO and will be joining us soon. The WPO is grateful to all that support this ground breaking event. I will be traveling over the next two weeks to have meetings involving the WPO and will keep you guys updated on the progress . The meetings involve the filming of the WPO and having it on dvd's and/or a pay per view format. We'll see what happen's. Also, I will be in discussion with Guinness World Book of Records, as we may have not only the largest lifts on record for both men and women but also the largest group of totals over 2600 lb. in one event. Hopefully, this works out, it will be cool to have them present at the event. More updates next week guys.
05.01.2022 Hi Guys, I want to clarify something about the WPO invites . ( a few have misunderstood) If you received an invitation to the WPO event in November and have a...ccepted it by responding to the WPO gmail account, the only thing you have to do is have your entry fee in by the deadline -Sept. 21st . The roster's have been posted on this facebook account . The only thing that takes you off this roster is not having your entry in on time . Very soon there will be a link on the WPC website for the WPO. It will have all necessary information about the WPO you need. Look forward to seeing all of you.
04.01.2022 Here is an outline of the schedule for each day for those joining me at the event. If the Australian lifters have questions, please send them to me. Thank you, Andrea
01.01.2022 Anzac Day dawned under grey skies in Melbourne. It seemed fitting for this solemn day. A day of remembrance and gratitude to those who had fought and still figh...t, for the freedom we now enjoy in Australia and New Zealand. Our drive to Moorabbin was accompanied by a group of over 50 Harleys and their riders celebrating their mateship and freedom on the road. Their convoy rumbled on as we turned off at the Sandbelt Hotel and the anticipation of arriving at Slaughterhouse Melbourne for the traditional Anzac Day Powerlifting Competition kicked the pulse up a gear. This is a unique and very special competition that is held in such high regard that it has been sanctioned for World Records. There are no other full Powerlifting competitions outside of National Championships where World Records can be set or broken in Australia. Familiar faces welcomed us as we walked in. The distinct, bright green Slaughterhouse Melbourne gym equipment that features in so many photos and videos and immediately tells you which gym you are looking at without reading the captions. The huge LED screen backdrop to the lifting platform, the Slaughterhouse and CAPO banners flying, the music and the chatter all setting the scene for a great day. Every lifter is ready to do their best. Everyone is expecting to see great lifting. Then something happens. Something that makes this competition different to any other. Barry Murray takes the microphone and reminds us what this day is about. The emotions start to rise. MC Michael Ray then reads the immortal verse; "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." The gym is silent. Jaws are clenched tight. We think of those we know who serve or served their country mothers, sisters, daughters, fathers, brothers and sons - and especially those who paid the ultimate price. A man steps forward, raises a bugle and plays ‘The Last Post’. The haunting notes take the emotions to another level. There are more than a few tears. There are many hard men present today - everyone is moved by the ceremony. This is a very special competition on a very special day. The scene is set - now it is time to lift. 40 lifters. It’s going to be a long day. That has to be factored in to attempt selection. A long, arduous competition, appropriate on a day that remembers a long arduous battle. Everyone is fresh for their squats PBs, Australian and World Records are achieved. The Bench Only flight throws the timing for a lot of lifters and many do not take the fatigue factor into account with their attempts - more records and PBs but there are only 11 successful final attempts out of 27 lifters. The crowd is getting right behind the lifters and the adrenaline is pumping it is enough to get some people over the line but some have been too ambitious with their attempt selection it is a skill that must be learnt by experience. By the time Deadlifts start the fatigue is starting to show on some faces but now the crowd is roaring for the lifters to succeed. Some lifters are collapsing during or after their attempts due to the effort they are putting into the lift. There are many memorable performances and comebacks from failed attempts from young and old alike. The girls have the crowd on their feet. The young blokes are taking lifts well over triple bodyweight. Then a warhorse steps on to the platform. We have already seen him take a World Record on the Bench but we have also seen him battle through his squats. He is injured. He is 60 years old and he is facing a 500 pound Deadlift that will be a World Record if he succeeds. The mc calls for support from the crowd but it is one of those moments when everyone is silent in anticipation. As he sets up, the champion he has coached to countless world records over more than 20 years takes position as back spotter and lends his will and energy for his friend to make the lift. The bar starts to rise and the crowd starts to cheer. It goes up fast but then slows to a crawl. It looks like it is too heavy but somehow it keeps moving. The crowd is going crazy. C’mon. C’mon, C’mon. He locks it out! A new world record! What a battle. What a competition. This is what it’s all about. Digging deep and fighting on. The Anzac Spirit was honoured here today in a unique way. Long may this tradition continue. Virus-free. www.avast.com
