25.01.2022 The permitted workers document was updated at 11:59pm last night if anyone needs it https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//Permitted%20Work%20Premises%2

25.01.2022 The children in the quolls room have exploring creative play using chalk. This gives the children the opportunity to freely explore preliteracy skills and discover other drawing and writing skills. The children found the texture fascinating and an interesting way to explore sensory play as well

24.01.2022 Today we have something different for you, watch and work along with Bronte to make some sensory bags! These can be made with simple materials available at home. If you don't have paint at home make sure to look back at our video from last week of Tegan making DIY paints from household ingredients. Sensory play is important for children to develop their understanding of the world around them and encourage exploration of different materials and equipment.

24.01.2022 Here's a fun activity to do at home that all age groups love! Lynda is going to show you how to make car track paintings. The children love to react and respond to the similarities and differences in the car track prints and show colour recognition skills when connecting the car colour to the paint colours. This can also be done with animal foot prints or kitchen utensils for stamping. If you have a try we would love to see, please feel free to share your art in the comments.

24.01.2022 Monday 28th Sept we will be able to accept all families as permits will no longer be needed, we can’t wait to see everyone and give parents a break from their cherubs! Not quite the news we were all hoping for as we would love to see everyone back to work and school but we will stay positive and look forward to everyone being back soon. An email will be sent this week to confirm when you are intending on returning, we would just like to wait for any further clarification from The Department before passing information on to you https://images.app.goo.gl/wnnnDkRgSNB798cz7

24.01.2022 SHOW US YOUR PETS OR TEDDIES! Something a bit different today, We would love for you all to share a picture of your pets or favourite teddies and give us a little about me in the comments! Hayley will start us off! This is Owen, he's a 1 year old American bulldog cross staffy. We rescued him when he was 15weeks old! He loves sticks and food of all kinds, he's very VERY spoilt. ... Can't wait to see all your wonderful pictures!

24.01.2022 A great read, stay to the end as there is some great tips and printables during the article

23.01.2022 Please be reassured we are open. As we get further clarification from the Department of Education and Training (DET) we will pass this on to you. Our understanding so far is that we will only have children of working parents attending, which means back to the online learning hub for some of our preschoolers. If you will not be sending your children during the lockdown please email the centre to receive a form to fill out to apply to have your GAP fee waived- this must be app...roved, please don’t assume your fees are waived without getting in contact. Please stay safe and we will let you know as soon as we know anything clearer

23.01.2022 Meet Chloe from our Lang Lang centre, come and join her to learn how to make play dough!

22.01.2022 Don't forget it's Pj day tomorrow!

22.01.2022 The Possum children have been exploring their fine motor and cognitive development with posting shapes, shape puzzles and activity boards. These types of experiences require children to use their hand/eye coordination and manipulate objects in small movement patterns. Children have to persist with tasks to complete to their satisfaction.

21.01.2022 From today, being out in public is going to look very different to us and may be very daunting for children, as face masks and coverings have become mandatory. Below is a link to a social story to help explain this change to children. Use the link below to head to Autism Little Learners page for a PDF copy.

20.01.2022 With the recent change in restrictions, we still require you to wear a face mask when entering the service. Face masks do not have to be worn outdoors if you can maintain a 1.5 metre distance, but indoors they are still a mandatory requirement . Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation

20.01.2022 Here are some snaps from our footy day that we had last week. I think we have some aspiring athletes in our presence

18.01.2022 Active play is about moving, being and doing. It encourages children to play by themselves or can help to extend their social skills by engaging in group outdoor games. The Preschool children recently initiated a skipping activity and were having some trouble with it, so the turned to their educators for help and invited them to join in their play. Caitlin was able to help children extend their play and make it a group activity exploring timing, jumping and turn taking

18.01.2022 Here at Westernport CCC & Kindergarten, we take our Sustainability program very seriously. The children not only plant vegetables to use in our cooking, but they are also learning to be responsible of the upkeep of their vegetables. The Children help to weed and turn over the soil to get our gardens ready for the next season of planting. Once they plant the fruits and vegetables they use our Worm Wee, which we bottle from our worm farm, to water the seedlings and plants. The worm wee is a super food for our plants. Then the vegetable and fruit scraps that we have grown and then eaten are put in our worm farm to feed the worms so they can produce more worm wee. It is one big cycle of sustainability

18.01.2022 Today Tegan is going to show you how to make paints at home with household ingredients. All you need is flour, water, salt and food colouring. Below is the link to the recipe too https://tinkerlab.com/salt-and-flour-paint/ Paint is such a universal material that can be used in so many different ways and definitely plays a big part in activities at the centre. Stay tuned for more activities that can be done at home!

18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, We thank people for their patience as we have been awaiting the correct permits. Here is a pic of the 2 relevant forms we need from both parents(one if single parent). Although we have been told we cannot have children in attendence without the form we have only recieved them at 6pm tonight so doing our best to pass this information on. First pic is for families of permitted workers that are working from home. The second is almost identical to the original worker... permit but has an additional section for child care-this is the one majority of families will need to supply to us before children can attend. The original permit form most of you sent in today will be okay for the morning but we will need the other one completed ASAP. Exceptions to these forms are 'law enforement, emergency services or healthcare workers who carry employer-issued photographic identification, which clearly identifies the employer' - if in this category we will need a copy of your photo ID meeting this criteria(We can copy at the service). Please remember these are not our rules, we are just trying our best to follow the governments directions. The forms can be found on the attached link. Please ensure you get the appropriate forms returned ASAP for your child to attend. Individuals and employers face up to $10,000 fines for breaching permit rules, wee are subject to fines around the $100,000 mark so please help us do the right thing, we look forward to a return to normal on the other side https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/permitted-worker-scheme-covid-19 See more

18.01.2022 Yesterday we enjoyed coming to day care in our PJ's! We wore our Pj's to raise money for the Pyjama Foundation. The Pyjama Foundation raises much needed funds to support children in foster care. PJ day is by far one of our favourite days of the year, the children enjoy laughing and giggling at their teachers wearing Pj's, exploring connections with their peers and recognising similarities and differences between each others Pyjama's!

17.01.2022 Hi All, just sharing a reminder of the upcoming changes, an email is on it's way explaining how these changes will work at the centre, if you haven't recieved an email by tomorrow please let us know, stay safe everyone

15.01.2022 Fun in the Sun. We love to get the children outdoors to play. Our program in the Bilbies Room is based on indoor/outdoor play. And that anything inside and go outside. Children are being encouraged to explore their natural environment and engage in play with peers, forming friendships.

15.01.2022 Today Tanjil is going to show you how to make some sensory bottles using different materials. Sensory bottles are a great activity as they can be made with any different materials you can think of: leaves, shells, beads, Pom Poms, the possibilities are endless! All you need are some recycled bottles, water and whatever bits and bobs you can find to put inside.

15.01.2022 During their recent exploration of Dinosaurs, the Kinder and Kangaroo children built a volcano. The children and their educators explored a simple but fun Science experiment of actions and reactions in which they used vinegar and baking soda to create the lava. Science teaches children to observe, collect information and to use logical thinking to draw a conclusion. All this and having fun with an erupting volcano? sounds like a great day in the Kinder room to me

12.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to all families attending and those families returning to care in the next few weeks, that our hygiene and temperature procedures upon arrival and pick will remain the same. Adults need to sanitise their hands at the door and stop inside for the temperature check machine Dahua or 'Mr Robot' as he has been named by the children, before signing in. You will still need to wait for the machine to grant or deny access. Masks must be worn by adults at all t...imes. Children will still need to wait for a educator to take their temperature before entering the room and then wash their hands as they enter. It is important that you don't use the sanitiser on the children as it is not recommended for young children. It is important that if your temperature reads above 37.5 degrees you do not proceed any further and wait for assistance from Educators. We are so excited to see all of our families return to us soon and if you have any questions, please contact the Centre coordinator. See more

12.01.2022 Hi Everyone, if you have a child transitioning to school next year this is a great free zoom session you can join https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/part-two-ready-to-step-up-p

11.01.2022 Just an update in light of today’s announcements. Early Childhood centres will continue offering care and education to all families. There will be a few extra provisions in place- we will be temperature checking children (Any temps of 37.5 or above will not be able to stay) on arrival and remind families to keep children home if unwell. Educators are welcome to wear masks but it will not be mandatory. We remind you to social distance as best you can with adults at drop off and pick up times. Our educators will be ensuring they social distance as much as possible with each other. When it comes to the children we will still be offering the same comfort and care we always do. You MUST sanitize hands on entry/before signing in and do not enter if you are unwell yourself, any questions please send us though an email.

11.01.2022 During these unprecedented times we have added extra procedures to keep everyone safe! Along with children temperature checking we now have adult temperature checks upon pick up and drop offs. Any child or adult with a temperature 37.5 or higher will not be allowed to stay at the service. Please remember as of Thursday the 23rd of July, face masks are mandatory and must be worn by parents, guardians and visitors when at the centre.

10.01.2022 Sing along with Hayley as she sings twinkle twinkle traffic light. Twinkle twinkle traffic light is a good song that helps children learn colour recognition and some road safety skills of what to do at traffic lights. This is a favourite song when learning about transport and the road.

09.01.2022 Big thanks to our wonderful team on this Early Childhood Educators Day 2020. Happy Early Childhood Educators Day to you all

09.01.2022 In kinder the children have been showing a lot of determination and independence. Recently the children initiated a floating and sinking activity using leaves from our yard. The children have made predictions and generalisations about what they thought would happen prior to floating their leaves engaging in learning relationships with others. This is a fun one to try at home, all you need is a tub of water and some leaves!!!

08.01.2022 We are looking at updating our menu and would like to hear your suggestions. To ensure that your suggestions are received by the service co-ordinators please EMAIL them directly to: [email protected]

So come along and join Lily and The Kinder/Kangaroo children as they discover. Click the link below to join in the fun https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rnlDBKD2S78

06.01.2022 During this challenging time we need to remember that we are all in this together. If we stick together we will be ok. Love the WPCCC Family.

06.01.2022 In Koala's and Possums we love playing in the ball pit! The children have been broadening their understanding of the world around them exploring all the different ways they can interact with the balls. Check out those happy grins!

05.01.2022 I know it's quicker if we put on our children's shoes and socks, carry their backpack, or do up their jackets. But it's important that children take their time ...learning these skills independently. In those busy mornings where we're all rushing and feeling flustered, of course help your children out. However, add shoes and socks into your dress up box on quiet days, or practice these skills on a Sunday morning when there is no rush. Yes it's slower for children while they're practicing these skills but the pride on their face when they achieve a new skill is worth the wait.

05.01.2022 Today we celebrated Book week with some amazing Costumes. The Children's Book Council of Australia have been bring children and books together to celebrate through book Week since 1945.
