25.01.2022 *STORY TIME CANCELLED* Hi. Story time has been cancelled this week (September 6th) due to one of our school classrooms receiving some storm damage. The multipurpose room will be now used as a classroom, therefore it will be unavailable to be used for story time this week. I apologise if this causes any inconvenience. Thanks, Belinda
19.01.2022 19/7 - Dinosaurs. Today we read two stories about dinosaurs. The first story we read today was called, ‘Dinosaurs on the loose’ by Mark Osburg and Amanda Tarlau. All of the dinosaurs run wild, causing chaos all through town in this hilarious rhyming tale. Finally, tired and sore in the head, they stumble back home for a very long snooze! The second story we shared today was called, ‘How do dinosaurs eat their food?’ by Jane Yolen. This is a fun book about table Manners. It g...oes through all the sceniros about how dinosaurs could eat their food rudely. After this is done, it demonstrates how dinosaurs really eat their food; politely. Our craft activity today was a paper craft stick puppet. The children had to stick on the dinosaurs head, tail, legs, eyes and spikes. They then added an icy pole stick to turn their dinosaur into a stick puppet. Our next story time session will be held on Thursday, July 26th @ 9.30am. Thanks, Belinda See more

19.01.2022 16/8 - Giraffes. Today at story time we read two stories about giraffes. The first story that we shared was called, ‘The Short Sight Giraffe,’ by A. H. Benjamin and Gil McLean. This story was about a giraffe that couldn’t see very well. But when her animal friends make her a pair of glasses, she decides she would look silly with them! Instead of wearing them, and to prove to her friends she doesn't need glasses, Giraffe starts putting on protective clothing to stop her hurtin...g herself every time she trips up or stumbles. The second story that we shared today was called, ‘Have You Seen My Giraffe?’ by Michelle Robinson and Claire Powell. This book was about a little girl that won a giraffe at a fairground. Did you know that they don’t give away goldfish at the fairground anymore? You can win a giraffe instead. So much better! Although, you might come across a few problems when you bring your cute new pet home. At the end of the story the children discovered that there was a giraffe hiding in our room! We joined together as a whole group to search for the giraffe that was hiding in our room! Where was he hiding? Our craft activity today was a paper craft giraffe. The children made legs out of two pegs and connected the legs to the giraffes body. Our next story time session will be held next Thursday, August 23rd @ 9.39am. Thanks, Belinda See more
18.01.2022 26/7 - Elephants Today’s story time theme was elephants. We read two stories about elephants, the first story we shared was, ‘Elephant Dance,’ by Sue Whiting. Elephant Dance was a fun book about two young elephants, Hugo and Millie. Hugo and Millie were the best of mates, they did everything together. Then one day a funky beat came drifting in on the breeze through the Savannah. Hugo’s hips began to sway, his mind jiggled and soon Hugo wanted to do nothing but DANCE! The se...cond story we shared today was, ‘Elephants Pyjamas - Sleepovers have never been so silly,’ by Michelle Robinson. This story was a gorgeous story about friendship. Elephant has been invited to a pyjama party. He can’t wait! There’s just one problem... he doesn’t have any pyjamas. Poor Elephant searches high and low, often with embarrassing results, but he can’t find anything suitable. What can Elephant’s friends do to make sure he joins in the fun? Our craft activity today was a paper craft elephant. The children made an elephant by sticking googly eyes on, and a party blower for the elephants trunk. When the children blew the party blower, not only did it look like an elephants trunk but it also sounded like an elephant! Our next story time session will be held on next Thursday, August 2nd @ 9.30am. See more

17.01.2022 25/10- Today at story time we read two stories about construction vehicles. The first story was called, ‘Dig Dig Digging,’ by Margaret Maya and Alex Ayliffe. This story was about trucks and tractors, fire engines and helicoptersthey all like to work hard. But after a long, happy day of beep-beeping and vroom-vrooming, even the busiest engines need to rest. The second story we shared today was called, Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site,’ by Sherri Dudley Rinker. As the ...sun sets behind the big construction site, all the hardworking trucks get ready to say goodnight. One by one, Crane Truck, Cement Mixer, Dump Truck, Bulldozer, and Excavator finish their work and lie down to restso they'll be ready for another day of rough and tough construction play! Today’s craft activity was a paper craft dump truck activity. The children stuck a dump truck and tip tray onto their piece of paper, adding a load of sand, gravel and bark to their tip tray. There will be no story time session next week due to our annual school concert. Our next story time session will be held on Thursday, November 8th @ 9.30am. Thanks, Belinda See more

15.01.2022 2/8 - Fish. Today we read stories about lots of different colourful fish. The first story we shared was called, ‘Hooray for fish,’ by Lucy Cousins. Hooray for Fish, is a story about a little fish swimming in the ocean introducing all his fish friends; elefish and sky fish and fat fish and shy fish and on and on. The second story that we shared today was called, ‘Play with Rainbow Fish’, by Marcus Pfister. This was a fun Pop-Up book about a very colourful fish called, Rainbo...w. Rainbow navigates the underwater world: Who is hiding behind those leaves? Six small seahorses! Whale was too big to find a hiding spot in the ocean, his tail flopped up and down as the confused fish go tumbling on the Big Whale Ride! Our craft activity today was a Rainbow fish paper craft....there was one problem, the rainbow fish didn’t have any colours! The children added rainbow colours to their rainbow fish by sticking on little, coloured pieces of paper. Our next story time session will be on Thursday, August 2nd @ 9.30am. Thanks, Belinda See more
13.01.2022 8/11 - Today we held Story Time at the wonderful Woodford Coffee Shack and Jubilee Park. The first story we shared was called, ‘Jeremy’ by Chris Faille and Danny Snell. This was a lovely story about a baby kookaburra, called Jeremy. When tiny Jeremy falls out of his nest and is brought home by the family cat, he is only a few days old. Luckily, Jeremy is a fighter and as the weeks go by he grows stronger and stronger, until the time comes when he must say goodbye. Today we h...ad a visit from a little magpie, called Maggie. Maggie fell out of her nest and rescued by a nurturing family that has been caring for her for the last few weeks. Thank you Jodie for bringing little ‘Maggie’ to Story Time today, the children loved meeting her! The second story we shared today was called,’Waddle Giggle Gaggle!’ by Pamela Allen. This was a delightful story about a mother magpie sitting in a tree outside Jonathon’s house. The black and white, boisterous, swooping, waddling, giggling, gargling magpie swoops down on who ever walks past her tree, and precious nest. Today the children made bird eggs. This was an edible activity where the children iced Arrowroot biscuits and decorated them with 100’s & 1000’s, creating speckled bird eggs! I would like to thank Shane & Lorraine from the Woodford Coffee Shack for their wonderful service and hospitality today! We highly recommend you like their Facebook page, check out their opening hours and support their wonderful new local business! Our next story time session will be held next Thursday, November 15th @ 9.30am. Thanks, Belinda See more
11.01.2022 29/11 - Today at story time we read two stories about Christmas. The first story we shared today was called,’Macca’s Christmas Crackers,’ by Matt Cosgrove. This was a lovely story about giving. Christmas is Macca's favourite time of year. He loves thinking up amazing presents for his friends. But when he looks in his piggy bank, he finds he has no money! Macca and his best friend Al have to come up with a plan to make the best Christmas surprise for all their friends, and i...n doing so, discover the true spirit of giving. The second story we shared today was called, ‘Happy Christmas, Mr.Nimbus,’ by Elina Ellis. This was a funny story about a cat called, Mr. Nimbus. Mr Nimbus is a happy cat with a family who loves him very much. But when Dad brings home a mysterious tree, Mr Nimbus's family begins behaving very strangely! What can a poor cat do to be noticed? Our craft activity today was an icipole stick Christmas tree. The children had a fun time decorating their Christmas tree with lots of bright sequences and stars. 08.01.2022 23/8 - Today at story time we read two stories about pirates. The first story that we shared was called, ‘I wish I had a pirate suit?’ by Pamela Allen. This is a story about a little boy called Peter. When Peter wears his pirate suit, his little brother had better beware--because Peter is the captain and his little brother is the crew. But there's one thing for his little brother to look forward to, and that's the day Peter outgrows his pirate suit. The second story we share...d was also a Pamela Allen story called, ‘Where is the gold?’ This story was about Jeremy, Bellamy and Ted, three pirates brave and bold, set out to find treasure with the help of a very annoying parrot. Our craft activity today was a paper craft parrot. The children had fun glueing on the parrots beak, claws, eye and brightly coloured feathers. Our next story time session will be held on Thursday August 30th @ 9.30am Thanks, Belinda See more
06.01.2022 30/8 - Today at story time we read two stories about ‘Dads’. The first story we shared was called, ‘Kisses for Daddy,’ by Frances Watts and Davis Legge. This story was a gorgeous story about a little bear that wouldn’t give his daddy a kiss. Daddy bear tried to give him all types of kisses but when a grumbly Baby Bear refuses to give his father a goodnight kiss, their bedtime routine is transformed into a delightful game, as Daddy imagines all the different sorts of kisses th...at other animal babies give their dads. The second story that we shared today was called, ‘My Aussie Dad,’ by Evonne Morrison. This story was a fun story about all the wonderful skills that most Aussie dads have. Our craft activity today was a ‘World’s best Dad’ trophy. The children made a trophy out of a plastic cup. They stuck handles and a medallion onto their cup, with a little message that read, ‘Worlds Best Dad.’ Our next story time session will be held on Thursday, September 6th @ 9.30am. Thank you to all of my story time friends for the lovely gift and birthday cupcakes. I had a lovely morning. Belinda See more
06.01.2022 18/10 - Today at story time we shared two stories about seeds. The first story we read was called, ‘Isabella’s Garden,’ by Glenda Millard and Rebecca Cool. This story tells the tale of growth and seasonal change, beginning and ending with ‘the seeds that slept in the soil all dark and deep’ and how they bloom and florish and ultimately lead to new growth. The second story we shared today was called, ‘The Extraordinary Gardner,’ by Samantha Boughten. This story is about a boy... called Jo. He is a boy just like any other, but with a bigger imagination. Joe lives in an ordinary apartment building in a rather ordinary city. His world is rather grey. But he spends his time imagining a wonderful, colorful world filled with exotic plants and unusual animals. One day, Joe decides to plant a seed on his balcony. He waits and waits, but nothing happens! Joe gives up and returns to his daily life, but when he least expects it, he sees that the seed has taken root and turned into the most beautiful tree. Today the children decorated a little flower pot. Once the flower pot was decorated, they put some soil in their pots and planted some flower seeds. The children know that when they get home, they have to put their pot in a sunny position and water it everyday. Hopefully, in a few weeks they will start to see some nice green shoots and eventually some beautiful flowers. Our next story time session will be held on Thursday, October 25th @ 9.30am. Thanks, Belinda See more

We shared two stories about Christmas, the first story we shared was called, ‘Hopping Around the Christmas Tree,’ by Johnny Marks and Colin Buchanan. This was a gorgeous Australian Christmas story. All the Aussie animals are coming for the big Christmas shindig. Theyre bringing decorations for the tree and yummy food to share. The second story we shared today was called, ‘We're Goin...g on an Elf Chase,’ by Martha Mumford and Laura Higgins. This story was about four bunnies setting off on a jolly Christmas adventure to find ten little elves. There are lots of obstacles along the way, from clippy-cloppy reindeer to roaring polar bears and flippy-flappy penguins. They 'll have to run, run, run if they're going to catch them all! Today the children made Santa and reindeer foam Christmas tree decorations. We finished our session today with a Christmas Party and a visit from our school resident turtle, Shelby. The children had lots of fun watching, patting and touching Shelby. A big thank you goes out to the wonderful staff at the Coffee Shack - your wonderful service, hospitality and lovely coffee, tea and milkshakes were enjoyed by everyone today. 02.01.2022 15/11 - Today at story time we read two stories written by Matt Cosgrove. The first story we shared was called, ‘Macca the Alpaca,’ this was a story about a nasty bully called Harmer the llama, and Macca the small, kind and friendly Alpaca. Macca’s days are easy and carefree until he accidentally bumps head-first into Harmer the llama. Harmer is big, unkind and never, ever friendly... Can little Macca find a way to teach Harmer a lesson he’ll never forget? The second story w...e shared was called, ‘Alpacas with Maracas.’ This was a story about Macca and his pal Al, they are the best of friends and LOVE spending time together. When there is an opportunity to enter a talent contest, they just can't resist. But what will their act be? Will they shimmy and shake? Dance and prance? Whatever they choose it will surely be a performance to remember! Our craft activity today was a cut and paste activity. The children stuck brown paper strips onto Maccas body to give him a long hairy coat. They also stuck white foam balls onto a picture of Al to give him a short white fur coat! The end of the year is quickly approaching us and we have only a few weeks left of the school year. Can all outstanding story time books please be returned back to story time, or drop them into our school office, over the next few weeks - thank you!
