23.01.2022 We love kids at this age! This is Jojo who has just turned 4 and he’s having his very first drum lesson with Troy Wright. We’re showing him how to read the kick drum, hi-hats and snare and then playing while counting. We’ll try layering those parts next week

16.01.2022 Sometimes you need to get a little hands on with your students! More importantly though, correct technique and wrist movement is the absolute key to fluid motion while playing the drums. I can’t stress how important achieving this wrist movement is BEFORE you even bother with any other stick technique. Wrist motion gives you more than enough speed (over 200bpm) but you also have the power and support from all your fingers making constant contact with the stick ALWAYS! This ...movement and grip then allows for that perfect flow and whipping technique (look up Moeller method). Don’t waste your time with finger techniques when you are learning to play the drums... (unless of course you are a jazz player or blast beat death metal drummer ). All that is doing is wasting your time and not allowing you to play with an aesthetic and ergonomic movement. 06.01.2022 Hey everyone Troy Wright here.. This is a proud teacher moment!! Long time student Ashley Daley, who is currently getting vocal lessons at our school and recently filmed this vocal performance, also used to be my drum student for about 3 years. This year she decided to pause her drum lessons to focus on her signing, which at the time was a little disappointing for me but equally as exciting To see her in front of the camera again and sing so well has made me feel like a proud parent! 05.01.2022 Congratulations to Morgan Blake’s drum students (twin sisters) Tania Li and Lydia Liu for both achieving Distinctions in their Grade 1 AMEB Rockschool drum exams!! They’re both 6 and have been getting lessons for only 18 months!

02.01.2022 It's great to hear that the recent lockdown in Brisbane has been lifted but masks still need to be worn for the next 2 weeks across Queensland. Unless you are 12 years old or younger, everyone that comes to our school must need to wear a mask please. All of the teachers will be wearing masks so we ask that all students, parents and carers carry and wear your own mask before coming into our school. Thanks
