12.01.2022 Dear Friends, This has been a very significant day for us. 13 years ago yesterday our daughter was born, and it also marked the opening of our cellar door. Today, 13 years later, we demolished the remains of our cellar door after it was destroyed by fire on May 31st. We have been so very blessed with the support of family, friends and our community and thank everyone so sincerely for their offers of help and practical care for us. It is with great regret that we tell y...ou all that we have decided not to rebuild the winery. It has been a huge part of our lives here, but 17 years after planting our first vines it is time to say goodbye. Our whole family has put our heart into the winery, our children have known no other life, but circumstances have taken over and made the decision for us. We will remain on the farm, and hope you all feel welcome to touch base with us in the future. Our experience over the past few months has reminded us of how transient life and circumstances can be. It has also helped us to appreciate how ‘stuff’ is just ‘stuff’. While we have experienced such a huge material loss, we have been so encouraged and grateful for the relationships we have with people around us. As many of you know, our faith in God is a big part of our life. Despite this loss, we have no doubt that he provides for us always and will continue to do sowe have no reason to doubt his goodness now. We have so many special memories with our many customers, both retail and wholesale, and thank you with all our heart for the support you have shown us over the years. So many times we have felt personally included as you enjoyed our wine at your special occasions. Kathryn has shared this journey very closely with our family and also feels the loss of the winery deeply. Our families have spent years together both in and outside work and look forward to this continuing. It is exciting that she is taking this opportunity to start her own Piano School. We certainly could not have run the winery without her dedication and hard work; people who put their heart into their work are few and precious. 10.01.2022 Have you been to visit Red Dirt @ Dorrigo yet? You may have come across our Pinot Gris Grappa at the cellar door, which "those who know" have declared to be a most excellent drop. These guys do a great job with spirits such as gin and vodka, and are getting quite creative about the produce they use in these very fine, regional, boutique spirits. 06.01.2022 Many of you will have heard the news that on Tuesday evening our winery was destroyed by fire. That is very true as the picture shows, but at present it is too early to tell you anything more. We are all safe, and very thankful for the many calls and messages of encouragement we have received from everyone. Throughout the years, our supportive and loyal customer base has always been a highlight, and once again we have been overwhelmed by the care expressed and the support shown. We greatly appreciate your prayers as we deal with the impact of this in the days ahead.
