22.01.2022 Final training run at 10am tomorrow at Girdlestone Park and to make this penultimate event more appealing the Flatheads have put on free piss afterwards. See you then.

22.01.2022 Flatheads arrived and stocking up on essentials. More pics and updates to follow.

21.01.2022 Captain Ross has called on all King Island Nuflow Flatheads to training this Sunday at Girdlestone Park at 10am. The light run will be followed by a brief follow-up information session with Bluey. The Old Swans will be in attendance serving up hot food and cool drinks to the thirsty Flatheads.

20.01.2022 Last run completed and now countdown to King Island really begins.

17.01.2022 Hoodies can be collected from Bills place if you are about today. Ross Harris will have the Friday crew with him to deal out tomorrow.

15.01.2022 Our great mate Adam ``Jiffy'' Jeffries plays his 300th Latrobe senior game this week fittingly at his home ground. ``Jiffy'' deserves every accolade and pat on the back he receives as he has been an outstanding servant to the Dees over many, many years. We know that all the Flatheads will be training hard at every spare moment over the weekend warming up for King Island, but ask if they can spare a few minutes to get along to see the game and wish the swingman all the very best. You are a great clubman and have a great family behind you and are an even better bloke ``Jiffy'', and we wish you all the very best on your special day. Go the Dees.

14.01.2022 Everywhere you go the great man has an influence . King island club.

13.01.2022 Good afternoon Flatheads Please see below for post by Coach Bill Hello,... Training is again on this Sunday at 10 am at Girdlestone Park. Your attendance would be appreciated so that we can get some much needed run in the legs and cohesion into our ball movement. With only three runs remaining prior to King Island we are kidding ourselves if we think we do not need to train to beat the home side. Please make every effort to attend thanks. We have secured a major sponsor in Nuflow for the trip (Tim Archer) who have provided us with trip hoodies as well as a smaller but equally appreciated cash injection from Greg Richardson Solicitors. Bluey will have more trip details over the weekend. Regards, Bill.

11.01.2022 Good afternoon Flatties In shock news, Tegan "The Trainer" Sharman has declared herself unavailable for the KI Tour due to other football commitments. Tegan has found her way back to the Devonport Magpies Womens team, both by necessity (The Pies have a multitude of players out injured) and by design (loves playing footy).... Some of our players have seen this as terrible news - 'who is going to tape up my ankles, knee and shoulders? " or "what - you expect me to rub myself down? " - but as always there is an up side, and once we determine what it is we will let you know. You will be greatly missed on the tour Tegan, but we wish you the best in your comeback with the Magpies and hope that they truly appreciate what you have given up to help them out. A disconsolate WIFC committee

08.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS In news just to hand, it is with much pleasure we announce Australia’s leading plumbing service Nuflow as our major sponsor for the King Island to...ur. Former local footballer and Devonport Nuflow franchisee Tim Archer has generously gotten behind our intrastate push and we will wear his company’s name with pride on our new hoodies and our facebook page. Nuflow offer a wide range of services including residential and commercial repairs as well as specialising in CCTV Inspections & Reports, Pipe Clearing & Cleaning, Repairs and Relining. For any plumbing work, call Tim or any of his friendly team on 0448735463. Thanks again Arch and welcome to the Flathead family. See more

02.01.2022 KIFA v WRIGHTS ISLAND FLATHEADS UPDATE Well it is only 11 days now till the Wrights Island Flatheads will front up to a combined KIFA side and one can but hope ...that they bring some good weather along with them as it has been a bit ordinary of late. Our boys have been a bit slack when it comes to training, but then again they are not going to get any fitter and the weather has been absolutely lousy nearly every Tuesday night. We have a few players who are injured and some have other commitments that weekend so it will be interesting to see what sort of a side we will come up with. The Flatheads have been good enough to send us a list of their players with a little bio on each of them and it makes for good reading, see it below. ROSS HARRIS (Capt) Former captain coach of East Devonport and captain of Flatheads. Played over 300 games and has represented the NTFL many times as well as Tasmania. The 192cm utility is also on standby as reserve drummer for the Coachmen. ANDREW BUCHHORN Former captain coach, president, secretary, boot studder and canteen operator at East Devonport. Has been an NTFL representative multiple times and is the current NWFL vice president. Once played a game on King Island and at 190cm will be used in a variety of roles. KAI SCHUMAN 192cm utility who will play his first Flathead game. Currently starring with Somerset and will be used at both ends of the ground. NATHAN PARKER Rugged 188cm defender who has multiple Forth Footy Club best and fairest wins to his name. Another first gamer who is busting to get out on the ground. BOB ASHLEY Ex-King Islander who may or may not surprise in a guest appearance. Keen to show the home team why he was once described as a junior as the Tony Lockett of King Island. CLINT STRETTON Ex- Burnie and Wynyard utility who has also played previously on the island. Will be used in a variety of roles by the Flats and is expected by the visitors and himself to dominate on and off the field. ROSS HUBBLE Towering 200cm ruckman who played around 200 games with Wynyard and Ulverstone. Big Hubba will be expected to give the Flatty runners plenty of silver service. Very fit and will cause the locals trouble with his marking and deft foot passing. SHANNON WAINWRIGHT Bulldozing former Turners Beach and armed forces utility who is a much loved figure amongst the team. Can play defence or forward and at 115kg will quickly win over the local supporters with his care-free knock-them-down pick-them-up style. Also is a champion hockey player and scone maker. DANIEL VINCENT Known widely as the Timekeeper. `Vinno’ is a former 300 game East Devonport player who will be a key cog in the Flathead attacks. Clever ball reader and has great skills. Has a serious medical condition where he overheats and as a result often finishes games and functions with plenty of skin exposed. JONO GRIFFITH Another 200-plus game ex-East player who is a real See-Ball Get-Ball type. This in and under fleet-footed hard nut will be sure to create plenty of opportunities for his teammates. Likes a cool drink on a warm day. DEAN WILKES Former underage best and fairest at Devonport and East Devonport. Quick and skilled, Dean’s motto is ``Take no prisoners’’ and will be expected to provide the run and link when the going gets tough. MARK STEPHENSON Ex-Penguin and Forth midfielder who is very fit and very, very confident. Has pace to burn and can kick a long ball. The visiting hierarchy are expecting a lot from this man who has seemingly done it all in every sport and hobby. JARRED CLARKE Experienced ex-Burnie and East Devonport forward. Has sublime skills but has had his career dotted with injury. Will be dangerous if given a sniff and will be keen to make a big impact on and off the field. CLINT DISTILL Has boyish good looks but these are very deceiving. Played over 350 games with Forth and has great fitness, skills and rat-cunning. Clint is always looking for an opening and will be used all over the field. ASHLEY BUTLER Another Flathead with Brad Pitt looks, `Butt’ is a current DFA utility who has plenty of gas in the tank. Very fit and can play tall or small and will be a hard match-up for the locals. MATT FRESHNEY Ex-East Devonport, South Launceston, Cuprona and Hillwood player who is also an accomplished heavyweight puglist. Cagey around goals and always smiling. Keep an eye on this bloke. DANIEL FRESHNEY `Delta’ is a former coach and player at East Devonport, Wesley Vale, Latrobe and South Launceston. Can play midfield or forward and is one of the squad’s fittest players. Has a deceiving step and penetrating left foot. BRETT McCALL Ex-Devonport, Latrobe, Wesley Vale and East Devonport (coach) who will be a real target for the visitors in attack. Standing 188cm and weighing in excess of 100kg, big Bilson is a strong mark and thumping kick. Likes to keep well-hydrated so expect to see the runner with him all day constantly keeping the fluids up. SIMON HOWARD Former Latrobe and Wesley Vale goal-kicker who has booted 100 goals in a season. Fast on the lead, `Howey’ has good hands and a thumping right leg. Polished forward who will be hard to hold. ANDREW BOON Ex-Tasmanian champion sprinter and cricketer who loves to grab the ball and bound away from his opponents. Boony also has coached in the NWFA and will be another hard to match-up type. JAMIE MOREY Ex- Burnie, DFA and current Coachman who can really play. All-round footy, guitar and singing skills make him a very valuable Flathead. KIAH McCREADIE Current DFA champ who will be used as a floating utility. Like Moray he will be used in bursts to conserve his energies for the after match function. WADE McCREADIE Hard running and silky skills are the trademark of both Wade and brother Kiah. Wade will be used in midfield and across half-forward. Another Coachman who is making his Flathead debut. NICK MORGAN Ex-Latrobe and current Forth forward who will be asked to shoulder a fair load up forward. Good mark and straight kick, Nick will be a real handful for the local side PAUL BRIANT Bulky Chairman of Selectors and wanna-be forward. The King Island defenders will find Blue hard to move if he gets his way and starts on the ground. At 192cm and a shade over his playing weight, Blue will be prominent at the after match perhaps more so than the game. MARK WILLIAMS If all players get food poisoning the coach will play. At 197cm and a touch past his best, he will fill the goal square with the imposing Briant. If this football anomaly happens, King Island will win by 200 plus points.
