14.01.2022 In last Wed's lunchtime haven we had a discussion about how to tackle writing about first nations people if you do not identify as a first nations person. I've come across this document. In essence it says if you write about Aust indigenous people or issues you have to show that an indigenous person has read your writing and acknowledged it as a true reflection. On page six, they show an example where Kate Grenville had her book 'The Secret River' read by local indigenous peo...ple. On page twelve they talk about representation of indigenous people. 11.01.2022 Breaking news...Louise Charman-James who has been a regular at the Wed lunchtime and Wed evening havens has just been published in a multi-authored book entitled "Sacred Rebel: Women Who Dare to Disrupt". The kindle edition launched today for $1.26 and if you purchase today this will help rocket them up to bestseller on the Amazon Charts. Proceeds go to www.antislavery.org to disrupt the modern slave trade. You don't need a kindle as the kindle app works on any device. Here'...s the Australian link https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B094JRLQP4 The print edition will be out in June together with an outline summit. Big congrats to Louise. So who is next to be published? Let's keep this good news happening.

01.01.2022 LAST CHANCE LORD HOWE Were you born to write but haven’t been writing? You need a Writers’ Boot Camp Retreat.... The next is on Lord Howe Island from 12 to 19 September. The retreat doesn’t focus on lessons, we JUST DO IT we write. With time each day to write and time each day to tour the island via land and sea, this will be the best week of your life. Come alone or bring a friend or partner. Non-writers pay the same fee, they attend all meals and tours, they just need to find something else to do while we do what we’re born to do...write.
