24.01.2022 Hi all, great day down at the lake yesterday for our final sail of 2019. We had mixed fleet races with the 65s starting 1 minute in front of the 95s with a slightly shorter windward leg. As you would expect there was some very close racing and a few hairy moments with the 2 fleets crossing each other. Some sailors brought down both boats and swapped between the two hence the results having a few holes in them.... In the end it was Len taking out the 65s with Brian from Albany in second and Bruce in third. The 95 fleet was a pretty tight close contest for the most part with Lloyd taking out top spot with Adam in second and Brett in third spot. Wishing all Wanderers members and their families a Merry Christmas and hope to see everyone back down at the lake in the new year.

23.01.2022 Hi all, something a little bit different this week. Both DF65s and DF95s will be sailing at Austin lakes this Sunday in an event dubbed "Triple threat". The day will also feature IOM racing. So completely up to you which boat or boats you want to bring down. Feel free to bring all 3 if you want. Racing starts at 1030 at Austin lakes, looks like a gentle SSW breeze around 7 knots building to 12 knots later in the afternoon. Partly cloudy day with a max of 27 degrees forecast.

22.01.2022 Hi all, great breeze for most of the day yesterday at South Perth. A couple of drifting moments in between some steady breeze and even a couple of willy willys that hit the course. Great to see a couple of old faces back down at the club for an enjoyable days racing. In the end it was a good win by Ron V with very consistent sailing with Adam V and Bruce R rounding out the podium. Results Attached.

22.01.2022 Hi all, a big congratulations to Lloyd Coles for winning yesterdays DF65 State Championships with Ian Sherriff in 2nd place and Ron Viney rounding out the podium in 3rd. It was a great day that was very well run by Barry, Glenn and Graham. Quite a few boats suffered electrical problems throughout the day so a good learning day for the upcoming National championships in March 2020. Full report to be published later.

21.01.2022 DF65 Peel Districts Cup 11th January 2020 Austin Lakes Western Australia 17 skippers turned up to Austin Lakes for the inaugural Peel Districts Cup. A blustery North Easterly breeze greeted us as many skippers deliberated on which rig to start the day with. With Wanderers Commodore Lloyd Coles taking up PRO duties the briefing was done, course announced and it was time to hit the water. For the skippers that had access to multiple rigs, most went for the B to start the firs...t race knowing a 5 minute break between races 1 and 2 would allow for a quick change if need be. Ray Bassett bolted to the front with his A rig in race 1 taking the win comfortably before a scramble for most to change up to A rig to match his pace. From there it was A rigs for almost all boats in the fleet for a couple more races before the breeze lightened off and A+ would be used by most of the skippers for the rest of the day. After lunch the breeze got lighter with most of us expecting the sea breeze to kick in but to no avail. As expected, tight racing ensued with Ian Sherriff, Bruce Robbins, Ron Viney and Ray Bassett collecting bullets over the afternoons racing. The Nor Easter faded right out during the 11th race and an early end to proceedings was called. In the end it was a solid win for Bruce Robbins on 18 points, 2nd place Ron Viney on 26 points and Ray Bassett rounding out the podium with 31 points. A great day was had by all, it was good to see a few new sailors join in their first big regatta and a special mention to Phil, Peter and Stephen who all made the trek up from Albany to join in. Special thanks to Lloyd Coles for giving up his time (and sailing) to PRO a great event. Everyone got a small taste of what to expect come the Nationals in March. Results and pictures courtesy of Brian Schneider in Peel District Cup Album.

20.01.2022 Hi all, sorry for the late email but a computer has been hard to come by whilst on holidays. We had 12 skippers turn up for the first DF 95 sailing day of the new year. We started the day with a blustery easterly breeze which at times topped the A rig but eventually lightened off for some tight racing. With a few water ingress and electrical issues throughout the morning we never got the chance to get the whole fleet out there together. Congratulations to Ron for winning the ...day with Adam and Dave rounding out the podium. Special mention to Peter who had by far his best result at the club with a 4th place finish. Next Saturday is the Peel District Cup to be held at Austin Lakes, if you havent registered yet there is still time to head over to the ARYA website and do so. I will still be coming down on Sunday morning for those that cant make the Saturday even and want to sail 65s at South Perth.

19.01.2022 Hi all, bloody hot start to the day yesterday with not a lot of wind to speak of. 8 skippers turned out in the 40 degree heat for some close light wind racing. Thankfully after 5 races the sea breeze kicked in to give better sailing conditions but better still, cool us all down a bit. In the end it was Adam out in front closely followed by Ron V and Lloyd. Results attached.

19.01.2022 Hi all, we had a light breeze for our return to the lake with 8 x 65's and 1 x 95 braving the wet weather. After a fairly wet couple of weeks the lake was quite full and the water was very clean with no signs of weed. With such a light breeze we only managed to get in 6 races before we called it a day. In the end it was a win for Ron with Adam and Bruce making up the rest of the podium. Was great to get back sailing and hopefully we can get the numbers back up in the coming weeks. 95's back next week.

16.01.2022 Hi all, just a quick post to let everyone know that at this stage there is still no sailing for the foreseeable future. Im sure you are all climbing the walls and want to get back into but unfortunately this is well out of our control. In the meantime stay safe, do that maintenance on your boats, fix that pesky sprinkler, paint the spare room or any other jobs you have been putting off. We will all be back at it as soon as it is safe to do so. Cheers

16.01.2022 Hi all, a flukey south westerly breeze greeted us at the lake yesterday for heat 1 of our DF95 Club Championship. Was a pretty good turn out with 15 boats turning up but unfortunately losing 2 boats to electrical issues before we got under way. Nice to see a few skippers back at the lake that we havent seen for a while. Plenty of boats got good starts only to see the gains erased due to the nature of the breeze at the top of the course. We had 5 skippers getting amongst the ...wins in what was a fairly close contest for most of the day. A big thank you to Warren for being PRO for the day making sure we got through 12 races and in good time. In the end it was victory to Ron V (20 points) 2nd place to Lloyd (29 points) and 3rd place to Adam (35 points). Results attached.

15.01.2022 Hi All, A nice swinging breeze yesterday that caught most out, so your skill reading the breeze and not stalling in the tacks gave you some good results. Most skippers making the switch to their A rigs once the sea breeze kicked in. A new overall winner today congrats to Bruce R with Adam V and Ron V making up the podium. There were quite a few others having a visit to the podium during the day.

09.01.2022 Horrible weather greeted 4 brave souls yesterday as we made the trek to Champion Lakes for some DF 65 racing. The general consensus from the attendees was , bloody cold, bloody wet and bloody windy. The rain did not stop all morning as boats hit the water just after 930, all 4 skippers opting for B rigs and thats the way it stayed. 10 very close races completed before hypothermia set in and everyone agreed it was time to go home and dry off. Well done to the frozen 4, better than a good day at work.

09.01.2022 Great little pic of our lake taken this morning during the storm.

08.01.2022 Hi all, tricky conditions on the lake on Sunday. 11 boats hit the water for some pretty close racing. A big welcome to our newest member Andrew and his 95 to our growing fleet. Well done to Ron V for winning the day with Bruce R in 2nd and Fred W rounding out the podium. Thanks to Allan P for the photos.

08.01.2022 Hi all, just the 7 skippers for a sail this morning after the full day of sailing at the Peel District Cup yesterday. Once again it was the fleet trying to chase down Bruce who proved way too good for the rest of us. Well Done to Fred in second spot and Ron V rounding out the podium.

07.01.2022 Hi all, just a reminder that there is no scheduled club sailing tomorrow due to DF65 State championships being held down at Austin lakes. If you are not competing and have some free time you are more than welcome to come down, Im sure we can find a job for you. See you all next week for 95 sailing.

07.01.2022 Hi all, pretty quiet day on the lake today with 5 sailors and not much breeze. A couple of the local bird life decided to hitch a ride on the top of 810 and 814 throughout the day which was pretty much the highlight of the morning. (Pics included) Only the 5 races as the final race really was a drifter. In the end it was Adam with the win on count back from Ron and Dave filling the podium.... 65s next week and hopefully some breeze. See more

07.01.2022 Hi all, great conditions greeted us at the lake today with a steady Nor Easterly breeze of around 8 knots with a few gusts pushing 12 knots. 10 boats on the water for the most part with most skippers opting for the A+ rig, a handful changed to A rig while it was gusting early. After Dave B bolted out of the gates with the first 2 wins it was up to the rest of the fleet to reel him in and eventually we had 4 race winners throughout the day. After 11 races it was Adam V on 18 points, Ron V 2nd on a count back with Lloyd 3rd both finishing on 25 points. Results attached. 95s next week.

06.01.2022 Hi all, unfortunately all sailing has been suspended. We will keep you updated here on Facebook, club website and members emails. Fingers crossed we will all be back sailing sooner rather than later.

06.01.2022 Hi all, we had 5 skippers down at the lake for some close racing yesterday. Great to see Brian up from Albany having his first sail with the club. There was plenty of breeze for the most part with a south easterly breeze topping the A+ rig at times. ... Congratulations to Ron V for winning the day with Adam and Lloyd rounding out the podium.
