25.01.2022 Victoria's called 'The Education State' for a reason. We want kids to have the very best start in life no matter where they live. And to receive an education ...that matches their needs and supports them no matter their background. That's what makes today so special. Nearly $1.6 billion to completely transform the way students with disabilities receive support at school. We know that in the past, some kids who've needed extra help just haven't been eligible. That's made things tough at school, and tough for families. And far too many have fallen through the cracks. So we're expanding the criteria and doubling the number of students who'll receive targeted support in the classroom including kids with autism, dyslexia or complex behaviours. We'll employ specialist facilitators to help identify students' individual circumstances and needs. This new approach will focus on what a student can achieve in the classroom - rather than what they can't. It means kids will be given more opportunity to work to their strengths, in areas that interest them. And to help schools better plan and adjust support for students, we're investing in staff and skills too. 81 additional teacher roles in specialist schools. 25 coaches and new learning resources to support teachers. And 150 scholarships for existing staff to build on their skills and experience. This investment is the biggest in our state's history. And unlike anything else in the Southern Hemisphere. It marks a complete reform in how a student's needs will be identified, and how those needs will be met in the classroom. More kids will get the help they need and a fairer future. Because that's exactly what they deserve.

Phew!! ... Coaches Marcus and Maddie worked double-time creating some transport games and a great, dynamic arvo was had by all! Here are a few options: 1 A relative or friend caring for a person with disability A relative or friend can come to y...our home to help care for your child with disability, including during the curfew You can also take your child to a relative or friend for care if you cannot leave them at home They can travel more than 5km to get to your home There is no permit for this but they should carry ID and be able to explain why they need to visit your home to assist in providing care You can get a letter from a GP explaining your childs support needs which your relative or friend can carry when travelling to your home 2 Babysitting or child care If you are a Permitted Worker, working at or outside of home, and there is no one else available to care for your children; you can access child care and kinder OR you can have a babysitter (paid or unpaid) come to your home A babysitter needs to be a pre-existing arrangement For child care, you need to complete a Childcare Permit form 3 Support Workers Support Workers who provide support that ensures health, safety and well-being are an essential service. And its some good news on masks From today NDIS participants who rely on support workers for face to face ...help every day can claim the cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from their NDIS funds. But - and this is an important but - this is just for participants in Victoria and New South Wales. And people who live in their own home and who test positive for COVID-19 and are required to self-isolate or quarantine can now pay for the costs of getting the house cleaned from their NDIS funds. You can pay for the cleaning and the PPE from your core funds. If you are plan or Agency managed, you can buy PPE through registered providers. Self-managed participants can choose where they buy PPE and claim from their funds in their usual way.
