24.01.2022 This week my professional development focused on behavioral finance. Most importantly we had the privilege of a psychologist speak to us. She emphasized the need to check in on clients but most importantly focus on self care. We can’t help others if we aren’t doing well. My self care is exercise, it’s my time, it’s monologue time, it’s endorphins, it’s fresh air. ... Are you ok? If not reach out, there are so many valuable resources to help. I put my hand up and offer my ear to you. Let’s stay present, do check on each other and do check in on yourself also. Stay safe, stay well #shehasdollarsandsense #ruok #selfcare #exercise #womenknowingfinance #checkonyourneighbour #checkonyourself #empoweringwomen #finances #financialadviser #financialadviseringoulburn #rightnowingoulburn #financialconfidence Full video at https://vimeo.com/451445401

22.01.2022 Have you had to look at your goals and objectives? Have they changed? For may the loss of employment, change in employment, reduced income, perhaps reduced spending, lack of travel have all changed ones objectives. For the majority of these outcomes it has negatively impacted many, in terms of putting mortgages on hold. How has covid affected you? ... As a side note have you friends in Melbourne? Please reach out to them and check in on them. I feel for all those in Victoria. Know we care. 17.01.2022 The focus of this year’s budget was economic stimuli, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has announced a number of measures to boost Australia’s economy. Tax cuts Around 11 million Australians will benefit from reduced marginal tax rates that will be backdated to 1 July 2020. Those earning $40,000 or less will pay 20% less tax, and those earning $80,000 will pay 11% less tax.... Superannuation Whilst there were no changes to either superannuation guarantee payments or the taxation of superannuation, the Government will be introducing new reforms ‘Your Future, Your Super’. These new measures are a bid to reduce accidental multiple accounts when people change jobs and improve member education, i.e. annual member meetings and greater communication on how member funds are invested and their funds spent. Whilst these new reforms were announced in the Budget, greater clarity will be provided in the coming months. Business with less than $5b turnover There were a number of measures to assist Australian companies, this being the Government’s attempt to increase jobs to aid economic recovery. Such measures included: * Deduct the full cost of eligible depreciable assets acquired from 7:30pm 6 October 2020 * Temporarily allow companies to offset tax losses against previous profits on which tax has been paid (losses incurred until June 2022 can be offset against prior profits made on or after the 201/2019 financial year) * A further $105 million in tax relief will also expand access to a range of small business concessions by lifting the aggregated annual turnover threshold for these concessions. Businesses with a turnover between $10 million to $50 million will, for the first time, be able to access up to 10 small business tax concessions. First home buyers The First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FLDS) allows 10,000 eligible borrowers the ability to purchase a home in a certain location with only a 5% deposit, without having to pay lenders mortgage insurance. The government will open up new places, with a tighter set of requirements, that is it must be the purchase of a newly built home or building of a new home. There is plent

14.01.2022 Advice = Confidence Research has shown that during these uncertain times, that those with an adviser had more confidence than those without. We advisers are on your side, we want to help, improve and educate Australians to give them greater peace of mind in terms of their finances. ... Are you confident? Are you in control of your finances? 10.01.2022 As I have previously said we need to save for certain items or goals and we also just need to save, as my husband says ‘money is made flat to stack’. So often it’s easy come easy go, but what happens when it’s not? That’s the saving for no reason. This said some of us still need a label or an incentive for those savings. For me it’s children’s education. Maybe I won’t need it when the time comes and I can pay as we go but rather than ‘wait and see’ I would rather have back up.... No insurance? The saving for no reason is vital if there isn’t any insurance cover to protect you from that ‘rainy day’. We all know when it rains it pours! 09.01.2022 Are your objectives on this infographic? My only concern is how can you be frugal if you don’t know where and how you spend? I can’t stress enough the importance of understanding your cash flow. As an adviser it is just as important if not more important than the structure you invest through. ... It allows us as advisers to understand your spending habits and how much you will need in the future, it also allows us to understand the impact of insurance premiums or loss of employment on your lifestyle. Contact me today for your free budget boot camp spreadsheet. This takes 5 minutes a week but can tell a thousand stories! It will help you better understand where you spend and how you save. 09.01.2022 Supporting local businesses is more important than ever. They need our support to survive this pandemic. Support then now and we will still have them on the other side. My friend’s great advice is to loo at your budget, what can you afford each week, month, quarter to support local businesses? ... #shoplocal #shop2580 #supportlocalbusiness #shehasdollarsandsense @lucyintheskyjewels @rumours_and_runways @dianacheethamhairandmakeup @thecountryoutfitters @yourhomematters_goulburn @daniellesinvogue

09.01.2022 Comparing the pair? Some advertising will have you believe it’s all about fees.... it’s not, nor is it just returns? As a financial adviser my role is education and strategy. How do I put a client in a better position? How do I protect a client from losing their income and/or home due to injury or illness? ... Returns are important but they aren’t the be all and end all, if you have a significant mortgage I might not be telling you to invest just yet, it would be focus on reducing that mortgage as fast as possible. If you’re 35, it possibly wouldn’t be the best option to be putting large sums into super (it might also be that we do) - it simply comes down to you! Where you are now and where you want to be. It’s strategy first. 07.01.2022 Proactive rather than the reactive rush Are you a small business was? Do you actively manage your books? You could do it yourself, you may have a book keeper, either way how closely do you monitor the income and outgoings? The invoicing? The payment of invoices? Like most things we need to be proactive, working on the business as well as in the business, finally talking regularly with our accountant. They too prefer to plan and be proactive rather than pick up the pieces.... 03.01.2022 The figures are out, the amount of early release super withdrawn by members has far exceeded the expectations of the government. In some instances the member has withdrawn although the funds may not have been 100% required. This is a concern, $20,000 withdrawn now (especially if in your 20’s) will affect your balance by more than $80,000 in retirement. If you didn’t use the funds, you must be aware there are restrictions on the amount you can put into super which depend on ...your age and income and contributions to date. Best to contact an accountant or financial adviser before contributing the funds back - don’t let this deter you - it’s only a five minute conversation. Getting the funds back in is important to your future wealth. 02.01.2022 Dilution of resilience We are diluting resilience, it’s not about bouncing back it’s about the recovery and the ability to keep moving forward.
