25.01.2022 Okinawan style, sometimes the smallest moves in Karate can disable and cause pain. You don’t need to be big and strong, good technique.

24.01.2022 I have posted this video before, but as we go into a further lockdown this video has some great techniques you can practice. Especially using a chair, if you dont have much space these are easy to follow. Pretend you are fighting against someone, imagine they are approaching you whilst you are seated. These techniques are great for speed and balance. The chair technique may be weird at the start but the more you practice the better you become.... I do not know when we will be back to karate and the way things are going I would predict maybe Oct, thats a guess. So please keep up even the most basic of training. Hope you are all well and getting through this rough year. Sempai: WSKA Richmond Dojo https://youtu.be/zoChuKwS8No

24.01.2022 Great to see juniors back into training and seniors with some return faces that have been 10 years or more away from Karate. We are vigilant with social distancing at the moment and small classes, no close fighting only Technique and Kata. The juniors so excited to be back smilingly, laughing and full of energy thats just warming up. We also like to welcome back Damian after 6 months away recovering from ankle surgery a nice close up of Damian in picture. Soon will be ...at full capacity training. 19.01.2022 World Karate Federation has some great videos on Instagram and the channels youtube. Watch and listen to the commentary of world champions talk you through competition Kata, Kumite and how they were feeling or thinking at the time of competing. A really good insight into competition and the Karatekas.

17.01.2022 A great small turnout to training last night, first night back after 2.5 months off. Huge winds, pelting rain and freezing cold conditions did not stop the small group. Everyone so happy to be back, laughing and enjoying that feeling of Karate. Sensei talking about the old ways of training and his past Senseis, a cover of Martial arts magazine with Sensei Nowak. Brutal uncompromising training is a great foundation one that is never forgotten. Posted Sempai: WSKA Richmond Dojo

17.01.2022 The following video posts are from the Newsletter/Email that you would have received from Sensei regarding Kata training outside of Dojo. A note from Sensei to all students juniors and seniors. I was lucky to find Sensei Kasuyas videos Volumes 1 to 3 on YouTube. I was struggling to transfer old DVDs I have, but here they are.... Kasuya Sensei performs the kata intentionally at a slow pace for the student to be able to follow the steps. I trained under Kasuya for many years and his technique is excellent and what we strive for. Most kata clips youll see are either poor technique with mistakes or totally wrong so please be aware. These videos were developed for students who know the kata and have learnt them in class. Learning from video clips or books wont work. For you its good to refresh steps if you forget. Some great videos to watch you can stop at any time practice then start again. Hope to see everyone back at training soon. Note underlined kata are for all students from white to black belt 1st dan. Or if youre competing. 13.01.2022 A nice video showing some great stability exercises whilst punching. Great exercises for home between Dojo training. Centre line exercises, we also do this in class so handy to review your training.

12.01.2022 We are all sad that the World Shotokan Karate Do Australia Richmond and Coburg Headquarters have to close for six weeks. As of Wed 8th Tonight at midnight, Sensei Con will keep you all informed with updates on when we will be back at training. This is sad and also frustrating as we had just started back, with new and old members returning. Hope to see you all when lock down finishes, keep safe well and take extra care of your mental health.... I will try and find some great videos for you to follow at home, this way you can all keep up training and be ready to hit it fast when we return. This video is perfect for home and especially small spaces, a great old video that concentrates on the basics, and fundamentals of Shotokan Karate. Please keep in touch especially with Senseis, looking forward to when we can all train again. Posted: Sempai WSKA Richmond https://youtu.be/rdu-XJG-1mg Dojo. https://youtu.be/rdu-XJG-1mg

WSKA Richmond Dojo, still teaches tradition ways of Karate as taught to Sensei at a young age. The tradition lives on in generations of students following the old way of training. 08.01.2022 This is a training video you can follow and do in your Hall, just like being at the Dojo. You can stop the video at any time and repeat the techniques or continue with the video. 06.01.2022 Well done to our Coburg Headquarters Dojo Karate Meezaan. Her designs have been featured on a Surf company T Shirt. Fantastic to see her art work getting noticed.

05.01.2022 The perfect time to study and read all the Karate books you have hidden away. If you dont have much space at home, practice kicking and punching, trying to perfect the small techniques. Posted: Sempai WSKA Richmond Dojo

05.01.2022 Great photo of Sensei John from WSKA Coburg HQ with members of Coburg Dojo and Sensei Con from WSKA Richmond Dojo. We are all waiting to get back to training will be exciting to train again with friends that have become like family members. Posted: Sempai WSKA Richmond Dojo

04.01.2022 A great read on the close association with swordsmanship and Shotokan Karate. A number of Shotokan masters did study some parts of Swordsmanship, and in studying Koryu Iaido(Art of drawing the sword) you can see a connection to Shotokan karate especially the deep stances. Posted Sempai: WSKA Richmond Dojo

03.01.2022 A taste of old style training, just to keep you going until we are able to get back to training. Im sure Sensei will be adding in lots of intense sessions to regain fitness. The list keeps growing. Unless you train in Okinawan style and have mastered the art of hitting a wall with your arm in this video, I would not suggest trying. A visit to the hospital for broken bones is not a great time at the moment. Very impressive Higaonna Sensei strength. Posted: Sempai WSKA Ri...chmond Dojo https://youtu.be/R7PF224xP1o See more
