25.01.2022 #NEWS We're encouraging our triathlon community to Pay It Forward this season and help those within our sport who are currently doing it tough. Pay It Foward is... a crowdfunding campaign created to help support our members who are undergoing financial hardship due to COVID-19 and unable to renew their membership for the 2020-21 season. The campaign allows the swim, bike and run community to give either a donation towards a membership or fully fund a membership for a fellow club or Triathlon Victoria member. 24.01.2022 Great effort by everyone in what turned out to be tricky conditions today... KUDOS to our vollies who had to implement a few changes to ensure the safety of all participants. ... Major shout out to our female beginners and their buddies today, were very fortunate to have many ppl willing to support others to try a tri. Thank you for your wonderful support of this event . Special mention also to all the juniors we had out there today, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, St Bernard's College Essendon , junior female beginners as well as others in our traditional events.. the sportsmanship & comraderie was a great example of youth sport See you at the next one!! 16.01.2022 Event update We cant be unhappy with rain given how valuable it is at the moment.. Also great for but not for swimmers... so leave the wettie behind tomorrow am and lace up for a duey instead . ... Were supporting the CFA and thats what its all about tomorrow . Event details now - Triathlon Dash 500m/5/2k Enticer 1k/10/3 Sprint 2k/20/5 Sprint Aquabike - 20k TT or option available to do 30k TT. Sprint Aquathon 5k or option available to do 10k fun run instead. Enticer Aquabike - 10k or option available to do 15k TT. (Any event/distance changes can be made at race registration in the morning) If you have any concerns about the additional run please contact us, please don't let that prevent you from participating tomorrow.. well work something out for you. Kids/multiclass events will also be duathlon - Turbochargers 150m run / 1k bike / 400m run (ages 7-13) Superchargers 200m run / 3k bike / 500m run (ages 9 -13) Nitrochargers 400m run / 4km bike / 1km run (ages 11-13) Multiclass - as nominated subject to min age requirements (7-17) You can switch distances at registration if needed (subject to min age requirements being met) Thanks for your understanding. 14.01.2022 CFA Fundraiser - 2/2 Bring $5 or $10 bucks to registration and pick up one or more of these at a bargain price!! All proceeds will go to the CFA Fundraiser. Great drink bottles, BPA free, for $5 and the original keep cup for $10. Do your bit for the environment and help the CFA at the same time :-)

12.01.2022 CFA Fundraiser Were sooooo pleased to announce we raised approx $11,000 for the CFA (Country Fire Authority) today! WOW !! ... Were delighted to have had such wonderful support for this event. Amazing effort by our local community. THANK YOU - - to all our club volunteers and friends, you were outstanding as always; - to our community partners that supported us to deliver this event today: Hobsons Bay Running Club, Altona Life Saving Club, Lions Club of Altona; Kennards Hire Laverton and Salter Cycles. Hobsons Bay City Council, local residents, and businesses - Altona-Village Traders Association we thank you for your support and appreciate your patience when the roads are closed. Where did the money come from you might wonder: - all entry fees from all of todays events - funds donated by event participants and supporters; - donations exchanged for merchandise supplied by the club and Salter Cycles. Well post the final tally over the coming days. We couldnt pic a favourite photo so here are just a few happy snaps from today..... we finally got a group volunteer pic as well even though a lot are still missing!! Despite the majority of our events being under the current threshold, we believe its imperative to minimise opportunity for transmission. 08.01.2022 Pending no significant change over night, we will be swimming tomorrow !! Please check Vic Roads website for road closures prior to your departure. There are a number of closures in places around the Westgate/Ring Road and Hobsons Bay. A reminder there are two events running tomorrow-... 7:00am - Female beginners and Students; 7:45am - Sprint, Enticer & Dash per normal. All bikes for the Sprint, Enticer & Dash must be racked by 7:00am - see details provide in your race confirmation email. DUATHLON OPTION We do understand that some people may prefer not to swim tomorrow. It's completely your decision. In order to ensure everyone can still participate in our event, we are offering a duathlon option for those who would prefer not to swim. You need to swap to the duathlon option at race registration. Duathlon option will be as follows Dash 500m run / 6.25k bike / 2 k run Enticer 1k run / 12.5km bike / 3 km run Sprint 2k run / 18.75k bike / 5k run Any problems or concerns, please let us know. Proposed Dates- R1 - 29/11/20 - Members ONLY (at this stage) - ‘COVID’ TEST EVENT - limited field size.... R2 - 20/12/20 - Christmas theme R3 - 31/1/21 - plus potential Kids triathlon (Only kids event would be closed roads) R4 - 14/2/21 - Inc. Women & Girls beginner buddy event R5 - 8/3/21 - Mon labour day - ENDURO format R6 - 18/4/21 - Team Theme GSS - 21/3/21 - Girls Secondary School triathlon (edited) Events will look and operate a bit differently but hopefully still retain our great club atmosphere. More information and entry/volunteer links for R1 will be provided to members over the coming week. Just a reminder to everyone that our event permits will be contingent upon everyone following the rules, incl. but not limited to - * wearing a mask as directed by the Chief Health Officer (CHO); *practising good hygiene; hand sanitiser will be available. *coughing and sneezing into your elbow.
