16.01.2022 Yesterday, staff of MitCon and their families were invited to a special smoking ceremony of our new home at 130 Havannah Street. Wiradyuri Traditional Owners C...entral West Aboriginal Corporation used ochre and local eucalyptus to help cleanse and protect the new location and our staff. We would like to thank our local First Nation elders for their help in all elements of our move, and look forward to new combined musical projects. See more

15.01.2022 WTOCWAC is satisfied that the new proposed go kart track site (the old drive in site) would have minimal impact on the cultural heritage values in the area. The area has been surveyed previously and the project would have minimal impact on significant cultural heritrage values in the area. The corporation recommended this and other sites as alternatives to McPhillamy park which has since had a declaration made over it because of its Aboriginal cultural heritage significance. ...Other matters such as noise and proximity to houses need to taken up by those who believe they will be affected. WTOCWAC will support any location which has minimal impact of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Values of an area. Our concern has and will always be the protection of Country and the protection of Culture. WTOCWAC can also confirm that there is no section 10 application over the proposed (old drive in) site. 12.01.2022 WATCH || for insight on #AusNavy's Indigenous Development Program (NIDP). 17 proud recruits from the Navy Indigenous Development Program (NIDP) will take par...t in a sunset ceremony at Munro Martin Parklands Cairns at 1600 hours, 24 June 2021. The graduation marks the end of five months of naval training for course-15, but NIDP offers so much more. In partnership with TAFE Queensland and the Maritime College the recruits undertake a Year 10 maths and English contextualised program providing them with comprehension, numeracy and communications skills in preparation for future careers, whether that is in Defence, jobs back in their communities or continuing on with further education. The recruits also take part in cultural immersion days, leadership and team building activities in the Redlynch Rain Forest, Cairns. Recruit Clayton Anderson who is graduating on Thursday has this message for anyone thinking about their future careers, stop saying you can’t and start saying I will. #NavyIDP #TAFEQLD #NITV #CairnsCouncil #NAIDOC #YourADF #OurPeople
