11.01.2022 Our Volunteers don’t do what they do for the praise or the accolades - they do it for the service of humanity. But every now and then, it’s wonderful for our Volunteers to be recognised for their efforts and contributions. Tonight Wheatbelt Regional Manager Craig Spencer presented two of our Volunteers, Brock and Chaz with a Certificate of Clinical Excellence. Brock and Chaz are the only two personnel within St John to receive this award this year. ... 02.01.2022 MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS Caryn has been a volunteer with St John for over sixteen years, initially commencing her volunteering journey in the Goldfields at the Kambalda Sub Centre. After moving with her family to Bakers Hill two years ago, she joined the Wundowie Sub Centre. Caryn serves as an Emergency Medical Technician, and has previously performed the roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Ambulance Coordinator.... Initially becoming a volunteer to meet people and give back to her community, Caryn says that the positivity, self empowerment and confidence gained from serving your community is an amazing feeling. It’s not always about saving lives even though that’s a big part of the role but assisting everyone in their time of need, whether its helping Nan who has fallen over, a child coming off their scooter or transporting someone from an outlying town for further care. Caryn recommends everyone to try volunteering for the opportunity to meet wonderful people and learn valuable life skills that stay with you forever. When she’s not wearing her greens, Caryn works as a Patient Transport Officer with St John, and is also a veterinary nursing student and can often be found hanging out with her horses and other animals. Caryn is one of our amazing volunteers here at Wundowie. Thank you for all that you do!

01.01.2022 Last night some of our Wundowie Volunteers joined the team at Wundowie VFRS for a joint training exercise! We covered Airbag Deployment and MVA Extraction training, with our volunteers getting the chance to use the Jaws of Life. Local emergency services often work together when incidents occur, which is why this type of training is so beneficial to all involved.... Thanks Wundowie VFRS for having us!

01.01.2022 Afew weeks ago, a few of our Volunteer Ambulance Officers visited the Kindy & Pre-Primary kids of Wundowie Primary School! The children were read a story, shown how to check to see if someone is hurt and how to call Triple Zero if its an emergency! Kura the Bear even popped in for a surprise visit, and everyone got to have a look through the big ambulance, try on some gloves and vests and receive a little goodie bag!... A big thank you to our Ambulance Volunteers Tara, Kirstie and Georgia for running the activity and to Wundowie Primary School for having us! *NOTE: Photos posted with permission* *
