17.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions increasing back to a stage 3 lock down, we have made the decision to close the bath again on Thursday the 9th of July until further notice. We understand this is incredibly frustrating and that the bath reopening was short lived. We hope restrictions ease in time for the warm weather so we can reopen the bath. We are really sorry to have to be posting this update. Thank you for your understanding.

16.01.2022 COVID-19 Update Wellington Village Vet will continue to provide our full range of services under the new Stage 4 restrictions coming into effect from midnight on Wednesday. However, in order for us to continue to play our part in keeping the community safe, we will be implementing some new procedures and additional restrictions to the way we work: 1) Regrettably, we will no longer be allowing clients into the clinic. We will collect pets from the carpark and take them inside... for a Contactless Consultation. Vets will confer with clients over the phone or via video-link (Skype/Zoom etc) if preferred. 2) Appointment times will be extended to 30 minutes for the majority of consultations, to allow us the extra time needed to manage this way of working without keeping people waiting 3) As a result, there will be FEWER appointments available on Mondays and Fridays. We respectfully ask that people take advantage of availabilities on other days, even if this means not seeing your preferred vet. Please understand that all of our vets keep in very close contact with each other and any ongoing cases will be able to be managed with the same level of care during this challenging time 4) Card payments are preferable- we will have a mobile EFTPOS machine that we can bring to your car to process payments, or payments can be taken by phone. We encourage you to allow us to email itemized receipts wherever this is suitable. 5) PLEASE call in advance to organize collection of food, medications, flea and worm treatments etc. This will allow us to minimize traffic and reduce waiting times. Please be assured that we have our own internal policies in place (COVID-Safe Plan) to manage any risks within our clinic. Your pets are our top priority and we hope to be able to continue to care for them without interruption during this period. Finally, remember that travelling more than 5km from your home in order to bring your pet to the vet IS permitted under Stage 4 restrictions. 08.01.2022 We understand how frustrating the current situation is. In order for us to help look after your pets, we need some help from you to keep us safe. To do this, we have some protocol in place: Please contact the clinic before coming into the clinic. This may be before an appointment, picking up food or medication or for another reason. Please call us before coming in to the clinic so we are prepared. Where possible, only one person per appointment please. This reduces the nu...mber of people in the clinic and helps us abide by social distancing measures. The bath is open from 11am-3pm Monday to Friday. This is subject to change based on the evolving situation. Please use the hand sanitizer provided as soon as you enter the clinic and after a consult. If you have any cold/flu symptoms, feel unwell, or have come into contact with someone who is unwell, please do not come into the clinic. If your pet is in desperate need to see a veterinarian and you are unwell, please call us and we will discuss how we can assist you. If you do not wish to come into the clinic, we are able to do car consults or have someone come collect your pet from your car. Thank you again for all your understand and support during this time. 07.01.2022 LOST PET ADVICE Realizing your pet has gone missing is an incredibly stressful time. Below are some tips to try and help reunite you and your pet. Ensure your pet is microchipped and those details are up to date.... Call the local vet clinics in the area and inform them that your pet is missing, provide as much detail as possible about your pet in case they do come into contact with them. Also call vets in the surrounding areas as people may find your pet and take them to a clinic that is convenient for them rather than the closest clinic. Keep an eye out at shelters/pounds for your pets- even try visiting shelters/pounds to view the pets yourself as no one can identify your pet like you. Animals picked up by Knox Council go to Coldstream Animal Aid. Post in local Facebook groups, such as Lost and found pets/dogs in south eastern suburbs of Melbourne and Lost animals in Knox, and search these groups with the chance that someone has posted about finding your lost pet. FOR CATS- if your cat has a litter tray, place this litter tray outside. Some cats find their way home using this tip. Having collars and tags with contact details is another great and simple way to reunite pets. There are collars available that have sown in contact details and these too, are a great idea. Of course, preventing your pets from getting out in the first place is the best course of action. Ensure pets are housed in a safe and secure environment that they cannot dig or jump their way out of. It is recommended that cats are housed inside or allowed outside in an enclosed cat run, to protect them as well as our native wildlife.

06.01.2022 Brrrrrr! Winter has definitely set in. Here are some tips to keep your furry friends warm. Winter Coats - Although out pets have fur to keep them ... warm, when out in the elements they would still likely benefit from an additional winter coat. This is especially important if you have a thin, older or short haired breed. Warm bedding - Provide your pet with an extra blanket during these cooler months, make sure the bed is elevated off cold surfaces or a extra blanket or towel is placed underneath. You could even consider a heated pet bed. Shelter - If your pet spends a lot of time outside, then appropriate shelter is essential. Ensuring their kennel or enclosure provides protection from rain, frost and wind. Also filling the shelter with dry, warm bedding. Exercise - continue providing lots of walks or ball throws to keep the blood moving.

03.01.2022 To all our valued clients. As you are all aware, Victoria has been placed into stage 4 lockdown due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We know you are all nervously awaiting to see what impact this will have on our ability to provide care to your precious pets. After today's announcements from Premier Daniel Andrews, we would like to reassure you that we will continue to operate under a COVID-safe plan.... 01.01.2022 This Kangaroo again scroll on if you are squeemish. Tien the Kangaroo with the most injuries in the history of the world! He came in with a broken toe-8 wee...ks in plaster; cut his arm-needing stitches; broke the nail off another toe- which grew back; cut his wrist-more stitches. He was released last year and returned with a head injury leaving him with temporsry sight issues and scratches everywhere-he has just about recovered from this... Now...he has picked up a rose branch including 2 thorns, in his nose. Kangaroos love eating rose petals and leaves. I can only assume he has bent down to eat some grass and stabbed himself with a wayward stick right in his nose. I didn't realise it was part of a rose bush until I tried to pull it out but just couldn't dislodge it as the 2 thorns were pointing in different directions. Thanks to Nigel at Wellington Village Vet for fixing him yet again.
