03.01.2022 In March I called a Mayoral Roundtable to hear from business, industry and community leaders on the impact of Covid-19 to our community and local economy. The i...ssues raised including cash flow and support for sole traders was taken directly to both the State and Federal Governments. The following day Council adopted our initial Covid-19 Recovery Package to provide immediate support to local businesses. I am pleased to advise that the members of that Mayoral Roundtable have agreed to form our Covid-19 Economic Recovery Committee. This committee includes representatives from G.A.P.D.L. Gladstone Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Gladstone Engineering Alliance, Gladstone Industry Leadership Group, DCTC Inc., Gladstone Airport Corporation, Gladstone Ports Corporation and respected leaders from Community Services, LNG, Hotels and Clubs, State Development and Council's Strategy and Transformation team. This committee will advise our Local Disaster Management Group and will provide feedback on planned budget measures to further support the Gladstone Region during this national health crisis. Together with our newly elected Council team we will do everything we can to protect our community and support local business.
