23.01.2022 Gilded Over mantle Mirror ( London - May 1878 ) This came into the workshop with a loose mirror that needed to be supported with new glue blocks to keep it in place. I added two new batons to support the flimsy back and base that had come apart which held the frame together. There were 30 pieces of foliage that had broken off over the years which had to be molded and replaced. the piece was then re-gilded . I found an old Tasmanian newspaper stuffed inside dated 1958 the last time of its repair and ironically the date of my birth!.

22.01.2022 Just put up a new sign on our front fence made by Esk Ridge - design in iron in Longford.

22.01.2022 Birdseye Huon Pine Chest of Drawers This lovely rare piece needed new drawer slides and rails, drawer stops and a new piece cut into the bottom side moulding which was missing. The finish was very dark and was hiding a lot of the beautiful figure underneath. It was stripped and French polished by hand , then waxed to a satin finish for the very appreciative owners.

17.01.2022 Child's Walnut Dresser The dresser was covered in water marks and needed to be have the old finish removed . It was then French polished by hand and waxed to a satin finish.

16.01.2022 Classic French Polishers has been in business for 20 years this month in the Launceston , Perth and Tasmania area . 13.01.2022 The Fan frame had been dropped and the fan had to be repaired. Also the gilded frame needed repair to the plaster beading and gilt work.
