24.01.2022 #Repost @gigenti__ with @get_repost (CLIENT SPOTLIGHT ) Happy Valentines Day to me..from me cause Im the most important person in my life 10 months ago I decided to start a new journey. A journey where I decided to put myself first. For far too long I put my health and my emotions on hold while I took care of everyone elses needs but my own. The photo on the left - August 2016 me at 43kgs. The more I look at this photo the more I cringe. But I will keep looking at... it everytime I need a reminder of how far Ive come. The photo on the right - Feb 2018 me at 52kgs. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to where I want to be but Im enjoying every minute of this experience. This journey hasnt just been about training and putting on weight. It was about my happiness and my mental state and I can honestly say I am the happiest ive ever been in a long time. If there is one thing ive learnt over the last 10 months its that life is too short to sit around and wait for something good to happen. Go and find your own happiness. This doesnt just apply to your fitness journey.. it also should apply to your job or even your study life. 23.01.2022 - Today is a bit of a lengthy description: This is a 3 phase series discussing how we can in fact program for the Squat, Bench & Deadlift.... How to Program the - First and foremost, what variation does our goal need? (Specificity) Lets just say we are going for a Barbell BENCH Press for sport specific needs: (Powerlifting) What is our ideal goal? (Volume = Sets x Reps) Strength or Hypertrophy? Lets say it is Strength. How many days do we want to BENCH (Frequency)? Is benching something you enjoy? Is it something that needs technical focus? Being that powerlifting is the sport and Barbell Bench Press is our option of Horizontal Pressing we may want to do this 2-4x per week to be efficient at benching. That isnt always the case, but in this case it is :) Now that we have this information down pat we can move on to structuring the Bench in and amongst our training regime. Since we are Benching 2-4x per week, we need to ensure we dont overshoot and cause too much fatigue & potential injury on the body. We are aiming to increase our performance in the bench and become technically sound, so creating too much fatigue may in fact deliver diminishing returns. (Performance = Fitness - Fatigue.) Lets start with VOLUME: Ideally you want a light-moderate day to focus more on the technique while achieving potentially some hypertrophic gains. (Depending on how hard the relative intensity (Our proximity to failure) Once that is established we also should add a moderate-hard Bench day to increase our strength capacity and work more on the absolute intensity. (Keeping volume down & Intensity high) Lets finish with Frequency: We are ideally aiming for 2-4x per week. This is being spaced out with loading being distributed amongst light-moderate & moderate-hard days. 2x Per week of Flat bench press, we can sprinkle in 1x Incline day and even a Floor press day, so we can press from different joint angles and alleviate any issues pressing in the same Ranges of Motion across 4 days. Bench Press = Next up.. DEADLIFTS!

When I deload I usually just Halve my sets in half while keeping my loads at reasonable weight. When you Deload, please dont do sweet fuck all. Its just as important as your training weeks. Get up and move. Last week I was awarded with a Commendation by the U.S Army for my tour to Iraq. This is something not many people receive. Its not that. Its the fact that Im proud, not cocky.. just proud.... 03.01.2022 Humpday Deadlifts - I have been getting lots of questions of deadlifts and its variations. Also a lot people asking how it doesnt hurt my lower back (as I injured L4/L5 & S1/S2) early 2017. Weight lifted today: 145kgs 5x4 and then technique work 110kg 2x5. A lot of people dont show their failure. The first video youll notice I lean too far forward before lifting my first 2 reps. ... Here are the tips: Prime your core! Get your core ready for what it needs to do during this movement Band Work! Use resistance bands to warm up your scapula and stabiliser muscles to keep that tightness in your deadlift! Get them glutes activated! Use mini bands and BW Glute bridges to get your glutes firing and warm Dynamic movements: Open the hips, lower back and hammies so you can be more mobile and get into the strong position needed!
