23.01.2022 GREAT WORK JACK FLEMING From the early years as a beavers basketballer to still winning and competing hard in our mens teams, Jack Fleming is driven by the sport he loves. He loves nothing more than learning everything he can and passing on his knowledge to the next generation of basketballers. This passion and work ethic that Jack owns has seen him be appointed as the Victorian state U16 boys coaching role for 2021. After many years as assistant and working hard at his craft... with the Basketball Victoria Elite programs and with players at Box Hill Senior Secondary College, Jack continues to aspire to be better. He joins a long list of Greenhills players and coaches who have reached the great heights of state representation, but somehow we think he is not yet finished achieving his goals. We are all so proud of your work effort and your achievements Jack Fleming. Continue your journey and keep on inspiring others. See more

23.01.2022 How ironic on a day when Queensland has totally shut the borders to us much loved Victorians, we find some more tournament flashback photos. It’s from a Queensland tour of course and the photo includes our own committee member and much loved coach James Rossiter. Hopefully one day soon we will all be back on the court, loving the game and maybe even crossing the borders to play. Stay safe and stay strong to all our players and parents

22.01.2022 Edition 4 of FLASHBACK FRIDAY! It’s all about the tournaments. Whether it’s Warrnambool, Shepparton, North Adelaide or West Adelaide the Beavers don't mind travelling to a tournament. Don't forget we have also done the USA twice with one more upcoming next year. So check out these photos from our local ventures and just like these guys have a laugh and have fun thinking about the good old days!!

22.01.2022 Week 3 for flashback Friday. Check out these photos. Two photos from an Adelaide tour that include a two time Olympian who we borrowed for a weekend In the same group a former state u16 player who went onto to play AFL for the cats Not to mention their young coach who had no problems when it came to putting down the dunk.... Our girls team photo has another high achiever who played at the elite end of the sports and also a current committee member and Diamond valley coach. Not to mention the legendary Keith Duggan who was also a great club contributor and former president. Our u12 photo shows a couple of players from families way back in 1994. The coach Wayne Brooks and his wife were outstanding workers for our club. Also one of those players Jeremy Datson still plays for the beavers some 26 years later. That's legendary and we are so proud of your efforts Jezza. See more

20.01.2022 ITS TIME FOR FLASHBACK FRIDAY TO RETURN TO FACEBOOK These photos are not the clearest but oh my goodness they involve players from all eras. To start with we have a well known NBL legend in amongst them.... There are also many outstanding players including some who went onto to achieve great things in their basketball lives. We have captains and coaches of SEABL (now NBL 1 teams) as well as BIG V teams. Not to mention many great people who have become outstanding contributors to the community and their industries. TAG a player if you know them!!

Basketball Victoria are still awaiting confirmation from the state government and other departments in regards to how many actual people can be allowed into a defined space. 18.01.2022 Check out some photos from the official round one for the edjba played at Greensborough college last Saturday. Just a reminder to all that the season recommences on jan 16 in 2021. Games will also be played on jan 23 and 30. For all those members looking forward to the first round of the DVBA season, the grading games start on Jan 30.

18.01.2022 Dear greenhills member please note that as we move a few steps closer to returning to basketball there are some really important issues you need to be aware of. All members looking to get new uniforms probably because your child has outgrown their current uniform, we will have news for you by Friday as to when we can re-open at the Greenhills primary school to collect uniforms. We are also currently sending out emails to all parents about the covid-19 safe return to basketbal...l requirements that everybody must abide by. The teams who are not able to provide a volunteer, to ensure that these guidelines are followed at the venues for training, will most likely have their return to training and games delayed. COACHES PLEASE BE AWARE WE WILL ORGANIZE AN ONLINE MEETING FOR THURSDAY 19 NOV AT 7.30PM FOR A FURTHER UPDATE. YOUR INVITE WILL ARRIVE TODAY.

This emails contains information on the currents status of basketball and the latest information from the DVBA and also EDJBA for basketball returns. There are also attachments in the email from the Basketball Victoria return to basketball document. Hopefully very soon we might be back on the training and playing courts, but as you know the current environment is changing every day. 17.01.2022 GREENHILLS BASKETBALL CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT. AGM 2020 AGM NOW A ZOOM MEETING. Please note that due to the unavailability of the appropriate venues we will be holding our Annual general meeting via a zoom meeting process.... WED JUNE 10 7.30 pm It is important that this meeting proceeds as every club has obligations to present the appropriate documents and undertake elections. If you are able to attend the meeting please forward a text to either Aileen Curtis or Scott Ryan or via facebook where we will reply in private mode. We will then forward you the appropriate reports and ZOOM invite and other information that you may wish to view. We expect this meeting will take up to an hour but it is extremely important that it does proceed so please contact us if you can do your bit for the club by attending this zoom meeting. 14.01.2022 To all of our Greenhills members who were hoping to get back onto the court and play in the last four games of the season at Diamond Valley and its associated venues please note the following information. Our club received this from the DVBA and it sadly appears that many clubs have decided not play out the remaining rounds of the season, therefore leaving the league with no competition. Please note that some other leagues including the EDJBA will endeavour to commence their ...competition on NOV 28. However, this is still subject to further changes being made to the current restrictions set to be announced. Our club is also working with the training venues we use to obtain access whilst ensuring the proper protocols are followed. This is a day-to-day process and we will further update our progress on our social media platforms. At this stage WE DO NOT have permission to train at either Greenhills primary school or Greensborough secondary college. Good Evening everyone, The majority of our clubs have decided it would be best if we cancel the 2020 season and that the DVBA will offer the members the choice to participate in clinics or 3x3 competitions. Therefore, this means as clubs you will only need to focus on registrations for 2021 Autumn season. 14.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY Week 6! This week we go back to 1996, when Greenhills ran it’s very first USA-CANADA tour. What a great experience it was. The club took 2 teams who played in tournaments & against local high schools. They were also lucky enough to attend an NBA Vancouver Grizzlies training session and have a photo with Head Coach Brian Winter. In addition to basketball the group were able to get to the top of Whistler Snow Resort and to the Space Needle in Seattle. They experienced various parts of Vancouver Island and also got to enjoy both Disneyland an Universal Studios on their way home. Everyone on the tour, adults and players, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. What great memories from the club’s first USA tour. Let’s hope we get to do this again.

This is NOT for those players in the DIamond valley competition as we will have the uniform shop open for regular hours well before that season is set to commence.

13.01.2022 Dear Greenhills members ( current and new ) Firstly, a happy new year to you all and let's hope that we see a lot more basketball this year, than we did in 2020.... Please note the following information. The only games that are commencing this Saturday Jan 16 are for the EDJBA teams whose season and teams are approaching week 5. For the majority of our other members especially the new ones to the club the selection process for the DVBA teams will be finished by the end of next week Jan 22. We will then try to have them advertised as quick as possible. It is possible that some teams may not get to train before their first game as the season is commencing a week earlier than normal this year. It is not ideal we recognise; however, it is the consequences of what was a totally disjointed year for community sport in 2020. In fact, we were unable to see at least 50% -60% of playing base on the courts for the last 9 months of 2020. This has not helped with our selection processes. We also have to take into account that the Australia day holiday and basketball tournament is being conducted early in the upcoming week of, Sun 24 Mon 25 Tue 26 so it will affect the availability of some of our players and coaches. Where the club feels the need and the resources are available, we will be conducting several group identification sessions in the next 10 days. These will be advertised on our Facebook page. UNIFORM Our uniform co-ordinator will be available in the next fortnight to assist with uniform purchases also. This will also be advertised via our facebook page. You must endeavour to collect or organise such items for collection on those days available. The club does carry a reasonable level of stock plus we have more arriving shortly so it is rare that we are unable to provide something even if it is a loan singlet for a few weeks to ensure that all members take the court. Please stay alert for more notifications.. GABC committee.

10.01.2022 Basketball at Greenhills is more than just a game. It is friendships and bonds that form and often become life long memories. Right now, when times are very different and for some, a little hard to deal with, a simple text or phone call to say hi can make a big difference.

09.01.2022 It’s that time of the year when some students and parents start to consider schools that offer sports programs. Our very own Jack Fleming, one of next year’s state coaches also works at Box Hill Senior Secondary School.

09.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY #8 Back from the days of our club magazine REBOUND, way before social media existed here is a story from the local paper. Another from when our club was invited to play a touring team from Korea. Due to the outstanding quality of the opposition, we had to boost our team with a couple of local DV boys. We also have another pic of a talented group of boys from a presentation night.... Check out how well our coaches had to dress to coach our outstanding mens team who were a dominating force for many years. WE also believe in the next version of Flashback Friday will bring an outstanding photo and story, back when the song funkytown was a big hit! stay safe everybody hopefully we all get back on the courts at some stage soon.

07.01.2022 It is week 2 for FLASHBACK FRIDAY. 20/20 version Last weeks pictures highlighted ( but not mentioned ) three players who represented Victoria. Then Luke McBain added a photo with another five state representatives and my wow factor reached a high level !!! In this weeks pics we have the clubs first ever president and life member Bob Plummer. We have the daughter of a very well known and loved local entertainer. Plus there is the son of a Greenhills coach and outstanding comm...unity contributor who has served local council for many years. Then just to add to the beavers outstanding contribution to the sport, we have another two new boys who represented the state. Oh by the way there is the son of another great club president and life member who coached a DV rep team all the way to the Australian U14 nationals. In fact the more I look at these photos there is club royalty popping up everywhere. See you next Friday with more photos.

07.01.2022 Dear Greenhills member, Please be aware that we will be communicating with all our members this week via email. After yesterday’s state government announcements and the fact that many associations may now have a slightly clearer outlook of what the next 6-8 weeks looks like, we should be able to provide a bit more information to our members. As previously mentioned, refund options are just one of the many that are available for greenhills families. By the end of the week we w...ill have presented to you some more clear direction for moving forward. Once again I thank you all for your amazing patience and resilience during this trying period. 05.01.2022 Its flashback Friday week number 5 & we have a real mixed bag of goodies A very young Scott Ryan with a really talented girls team way back when !! An Anzac tournament with the winning team of boys. A premiership boys team. A great bunch of girls from back in the days at the highly awaited presentation night. Their coach was a previous DVBA president and also founding member of Diamond creek basketball club.... Three of our state representative boys back when the beaver graphics were on the court. The man wearing the bendigo braves top became a legend in the SEABL playing and coaching in over 400 games. The other two boys have stories of their own which we will touch on in the next few weeks. Great photos and great memories. If you have some old photos from way back when, especially team photos, the club would love to get a copy of them.
