25.01.2022 In March 2020, the Federal Government introduced the ability to access Medicare rebates for telehealth consultations (video or phone) to help during the COVID-19 crisis. This was and still is a vital resource to ensure that people continue to have access to psychological care whilst being kept at home due to restrictions. However, this measure is due to expire on 30 September and this will leave people unable to access the care they need during ongoing restrictions. We need your help to send a message to the Federal Government that Medicare subsidized telehealth consultations are extremely important and need to remain indefinitely, by signing this petition and then sharing. Thank you for your support.

She has been an amazing part of the Lakeside Psychology team and has provided an exceptional quality of work with us. We know that many clients have come to know and love Kansas and her familiar face has been something you have come to expect when visiting the clinic. Although we are sad, we are also very proud and excited to see Kansas take the brave step into becoming a practitioner within family services. Kansas, we thank you for your work at Lakeside Psychology and we wish you all the very best in your career.

14.01.2022 The film Cuties has generated a lot of attention and concern about the sexualisation of young girls. In this podcast, psychiatrist and psychotherapist Dr David Puder discusses Netflix’s decision to put Cuties on the streaming service and the controversy around the girls in the film trying to emulate what they see in the media, wearing skimpy clothing and copying sexually suggestive dance moves in their routines. Follow this link to also access the PDF article of the podcast. *Important note: You do not have to watch the movie Cuties in order to get something out of this podcast. 13.01.2022 Parents should not be afraid to use the word ‘suicide’ or use terms like ‘thoughts of death or being better off dead’ when talking to their child who they suspect is struggling with their mental health, says Black Dog Institute Clinical Psychologist Dr Aliza Werner-Seidler.

12.01.2022 Thank you so much Larrae for the beautiful, generous and delicious desserts you dropped off at the clinic today. The team thoroughly enjoyed them. So great to see you living out your passion Larrae's Kitchen & Co.

11.01.2022 Wendy Squires from The Age brilliantly captures what many of us are experiencing:There is so much heartbreak and despair and so little hope and light in our beautiful city at the moment...My bed is singing a siren song to my psyche, beckoning me to lie down and shut the world off, but I know where that leads and it is to a dark place...You see, for many Victorians, this is their first experiences of anxiety and/or depression and they do not have coping strategies to help. They can’t seem to articulate what is going on, only that they are not themselves at all and they don’t know what their moods will be like from one minute to another...know you are not alone or flawed in any way. You are simply human. Wendy Squires, Writer

09.01.2022 I love the feeling of my children's hand in mine. I remember holding their hands with one finger and one thumb when they were tiny, and now my eldest’s hand only just fits completely in mine. It makes me so happy when they run up to me and just slide their hand into mine when we are walking somewhere (less so when they want to drag me off to see something, while I'm half way through cooking dinner, trying to get dressed or putting on the washing!). What about you? What are the mindful moments with your children that make you smile? -Leah

09.01.2022 The Federal Government yesterday announced the early roll-out of 15 Mental Health Clinics across the state, two of which will be in Officer and Berwick. This is a free service available from today, and you do not need a referral. Exactly what this service will offer and how it will look is unclear, however for the many people on waiting lists who can not wait any longer to access help, this might be an option for you.

07.01.2022 We have an amazing opportunity for a Child & Adolescent Psychologist to join the team at Lakeside Psychology. If you, or someone you know, are passionate about helping young people and have the qualifications, we'd love to here form you. More details can be found on the link below.

06.01.2022 We've had some great entrants for our colouring competition. Don't let your kids miss out on a chance to win one of four Toyworld gift vouchers. Entries close this Friday and the winners will be contacted next Monday.

05.01.2022 Thank you Lill for sharing this. So many people don't seek and don't recieve the help they need and deserve due to the common misconception that people with eating disorders look a certain way. In fact appearance tells us very little about the distress someone may be experiencing and the support they need to overcome it.

04.01.2022 Not only is this incredibly cute, but also completely relatable! Happy Friday everyone. https://www.facebook.com/barricae/videos/10156625182707924/

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our four winners for the colouring competition! Just in time for Christmas, you’ll get to enjoy a gift card from Toyworld. Thank you to all who entered, it has been wonderful to have your artwork on display at the clinic.

03.01.2022 "Tune in to part two of the conversation with occupational therapist and Manager of Community Trauma at Emerging Minds, Ben Rogers, about regulation and its importance to children’s social and emotional wellbeing. This episode delves further into the concept of co-regulation, and how a regulation perspective helps to make sense of children’s emotions and behaviour as adaptive responses to what is happening in their environment."
