25.01.2022 Longbeach family, Todays post is to give you some ideas on how you can keep moving during the COVID-19 outbreak. It is soo important that you keep your body moving and not fall into the trap of binge watching Netflix whilst sitting on the couch. The weather is amazing so it is an ideal time to be outside and doing some form of physical exercise. It will benefit muscle strength, flexibility, cardio vascular fitness, and very importantly, mental health. Please consider any heal...th limitations and the social distancing rules whilst you are being inspired. If you are home bound due to exposure, illness or compromise, consider adapting some of the suggestions to fit your limitations. * Go for a walk. With the dog or family group. Utilise social distancing of course but the local park, football ground, bike paths and the beach if its open are great spots. Wear supportive shoes. * Go for a bike ride. Not in pack rides and only in your local area so car parking is not required. * Gardening is great exercise. Mow the lawn, do some planting. Remember to bend your knees and not overdo it. * Wash the car or dog on the front lawn. * Set up a 'bootcamp' style circuit if the gym is your thing. Yoga mat, resistance bands or hand weights, push ups, sit-ups and step ups will keep you going. * Practice your yoga or pilates in the garden or via a live feed or dvd. * Bounce on the trampoline with the kids * Do some stretching or meditation. Remember complaining previously "If I had time i could...." Now is the time people. You have it. The weather is amazing. Challenge yourself to do 30 mins of exercise/movement a day. Find a way. Do it safely. You may come out the other end of all this with some new healthy habits that will enhance your health and well being. Drop a comment below if you have ideas on things you are doing to keep active?

24.01.2022 Something to celebrate this week Longbeach family as it is #spinalhealthweek #considerachiro https://www.facebook.com/AusChiros/videos/784977315607817/

23.01.2022 And we have a winner!!! Congratulations Donna, your prize will be awaiting you when we next see you. Thanks to all who entered. We are hoping we inspired you all to get out to exercise during lockdown. #keepmoving #stage4lockdown #carrum #chiro #longbeachchiropractic

21.01.2022 A handy resource for all those after simple exercise to do in your home. It is a great time to form some new healthy habits. #stayathome #keepmoving #longbeachchiropractic

21.01.2022 Longbeach family. Thinking of you all and hoping you are all managing. Just a few thoughts to get us all through this difficult time in the best shape. * Of course, it is advised to be at home unless you need to go out for work, essential shopping or exercise. * Keep washing your hands ..... over and over again. * Consider what you can do for your immune system to boost its ability to combat this new threat. Good diet, fabulous sleep, exercise, fresh air and sunshine. * Look ...after your mental health. Stress has an enormously detrimental effect on your immune system. Suggestions include : Limit time on social media and news pages Stay connected with friends/family with face time Get outside, move, exercise in the sun! If you are unable to work, do something fulfilling. Keep busy, clean out the pantry if you want to! * Look after your physical health by getting out for a walk, bike ride, potter in the garden, yoga in the garden, stretching session or an exercise circuit in the park ? As long as you keep that 1.5m distancing. Not hard on our beautiful beach? * If you are working from home, set up your work station as best as you can. Maybe spend some time outside in a nice spot like this? (Don't mention the terrible chair!) Get up and down regularly and out for a walk with the dog or kids? * Spend some time cooking and eating well. Maybe make a batch of grandmas chicken soup that 'you never have time for'. * Take some time. We constantly complain we have 'No Time" to exercise, practice our hobby, read that book, spend time with our loved ones. Do it now people. Take the silver lining option from this terrible situation. 21.01.2022 Longbeach COVID-19 Update. The efforts of our community to #stayathome and #flattenthecurve is certainly paying off. Things are not back to normal but we can see that new normal in the distance. At Longbeach, 5 weeks of heavy protocol have limited our availability whilst keeping everyone safe and ensuring we have been able to keep the doors open. We are looking forward to the next few weeks to starting reducing some of these protocols. Screening, hand washing and social dista...ncing within the practice will be with us for a long while yet. We thank you for your patience during this time. We are happy to report many patients have been more active and started some great new healthy habits, so maybe some positives can be taken. We will be closed on Saturday 25th April for Anzac Day. #Lestweforget #stayathome #longbeachchiropractic

20.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE. Season 2, Episode 3. WE ARE STILL OPEN. The Premier's press conference today will give us further clarity on the next 6 weeks. Most importantly, you are allowed to travel OUTSIDE THE 5KM LIMIT FOR ESSENTIAL MEDICAL CARE. So if you live further than 5km from the practice, you are able to still attend your appointment. ... (these limits are for shopping and exercise only, not work, essential medical care or care giving). Further updates to come. Stay safe Longbeach family.

20.01.2022 LONGBEACH CHIROPRACTIC COVID-19 UPDATE As a valued member of our Longbeach family, we would like to keep you updated on the constantly evolving COVID-19 situation. We are committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which minimises risk to the health of all who are here at Longbeach. Taking into account advice from the Australian Government and Chiropractors Association of Australia, we have implemented several preventive protocols designed to simultaneously... limit the risk of spreading the virus and ensuring we can continue to support our patients. These include. *Screening of patients and staff daily. If you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms, been in contact with a confirmed case, or travelled overseas in the last 14 days, please stay home and seek medical advice. *We have removed toys and magazines from the waiting room and provided hand sanitiser. *We have implemented cleaning protocols such as wiping down tables after each use, wiping payment terminals, reception desk and door handles frequently. *We are washing our hands after contact with patients. We invite you to wash your hands also. *We are asking patients to tap their payment cards whenever possible. *We are opening windows whenever we can to improve ventilation. *We are inviting you to sit outside in our sunny waiting room if you feel the need. The situation with COVID-19 is constantly evolving, and we will continue to review our requirements and update as required. Also remember, that your best defence other than hygiene protocols, is to keep your immune system strong. Consider sleep quality, diet, exercise and reduce stress as factors that will aid your immune system. We want to assure you that it is business as usual at Longbeach, and we appreciate the support of our patients at this difficult time.

19.01.2022 COVID UPDATE Series two, episode 59. Week 5 of stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne and everyone is 'flat', 'cooked', 'numb', and exhausted. This is an interesting article talking about 'Surge Capacity'. Surge capacity is the mental and physical adaptations that humans draw on for short term survival in acutely stressful situations like natural disasters. Take note of the 'short term' part. 6 months into covid-19, and stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne has come after our surge capacity ...was already depleted. This article explains it very well and has great tips to help yourself and your loved ones manage better. It doesn't solve the problem, but may help you navigate this difficult time and minimise the effects it has on your mental and physical health. #stage4lockdown #keepmoving #carrum #chiro #surgecapacity #longbeachchiropractic See more

18.01.2022 Good afternoon Longbeach family. A quick update from us to say YES we are still OPEN. Hours may be different, our phones are very busy, and we have strict protocols to follow for anyone visiting the practice. If we can't answer the phone, please leave a message and we will get back to you asap. In an ever changing world we are adapting each facet of our business to provide the greatest service within the limitations we are dealing with. We appreciate your support and patience.... Todays post is to touch on our mental health and the effect the COVID-19 pandemic is having on us all. Our levels of stress/worry/fear/panic has a massive impact on our musculoskeletal health and immune system function. A few ideas to consider: * We are social animals. If you can't get out, keep in touch with friends/family over phone or FaceTime. Chat to your neighbour over the fence. Social distancing or home isolation does not have to mean social isolation. * Get outside. The sun is amazing at the moment. Sit outside to work/study, have lunch on the back deck and pretend you are in a swanky resort. * Keep active. Exercise will reduce stress levels. * It is ok to have some unhappy times. This is a big change to our lives and is overwhelming. Talk to someone you trust and be ok with finding it difficult. * Consider a GEM program or App. Practicing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness has been proven to increase happiness. Check out www.theresilienceproject.com.au. * If you are bored at home, do something simple yet useful. Mow the lawn, do a load of washing or clean out the pantry. * And finally..... do what you love. For Dr Narrelle, this is an early morning ride on a clear sunny Autumn day. For you it may be sewing, or painting, or bouncing on the trampoline with the kids, or walking the dog, or rearranging your model train collection. Stay well out there, enjoy the sun and remember to wash your hands!

18.01.2022 Longbeach COVID-19 Update. After a difficult few months for everyone out there in Longbeach land, it appears the sun is rising on the beginning of the end of the COVID restrictions. After 10 weeks of heavy protocol we are very happy to announce we are transitioning back to our 'normal'. This week sees us taking new patients and acupuncture bookings, and running at about 80% on scheduling. We will still have screening, hand washing on entering, thorough cleaning of all the adj...usting and public surfaces and social distancing within the practice for some time yet. All our protocols have proven to be successful to date with no reported cases on the premises whilst being able to continue providing our service to our wonderful patients. We could not have done this without the wonderful support and patience of all of you, and we thank you for doing your bit to maintain our strict protocols. We are also very proud of our amazing Wendy and Teresa for adapting to our ever changing situation with poise and professionalism. So lets walk into the new day, careful to continue to #flattenthecurve and #workfromhome, but knowing that as a community we should be very proud of our efforts and hopefully taking some new learnings with us from the experience. #Longbeachchiropractic #Longbeachchiro #chiropracticworks #chiro #carrum #womeninbusiness #womeninchiropractic #workingtogether #covid-19

16.01.2022 COVID Season 2, Episode 1. Well here we are again Longbeach family. We are open and working well within our strict protocols. We have done this before, we are not re inventing the wheel, so it seems easier this time. We are thinking of you all out there in lockdown land. Please be safe, #washyourhands, #workingfromhome #wearamask and #socialdistancing. You all know what to do. It will seem easier this time.... It does seem easier because we tried things that worked and didn't, found a new way, found the best option. We all have the advantage this time of having learnt from last time. Take that confidence into your day today, and for the next six weeks. Reports back from our patients suggested there was a lot more exercise, more cooking, more dog walks, more monopoly time, and more time to spend with family and friends either in person or remotely. We all need inspiration to keep us going. What suggestions/ideas do you have that worked well last lockdown in promoting your physical and mental health? Please comment below so we can #worktogether to get through this challenging time. Stay save Longbeach family #workingtogether #covid #chiro #carrum #longbeachchiropractic #luvcarriefisher

16.01.2022 LONGBEACH COVID-19 UPDATE. Just a reminder to our Longbeach family that we are continuing to follow all our COVID-19 protocol. As a community, we have seen a predictable rise in cases as restrictions have been eased. Our door is now unlocked, and we would like you to come in at your appointment time and wash your hands immediately.... The waiting room is available but we would prefer you arrive by yourself and you will be directed to wait in the treatment room. We are maintaining strict cleaning protocols to keep us all safe. Please maintain social distancing and stand on the 'smiley face' when dealing with the front desk. MOST importantly, PLEASE do not book or arrive for an adjustment if you have any concerns with a sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, fever or had any contact with anybody you know who has tested positive. We are happy for you to cancel either with a call or even on the answering machine if something develops overnight. We can easily reschedule you for another adjustment time. Lets keep working together to keep our Longbeach community safe. #keepingsafe #longbeachchiropractic.

15.01.2022 Some great ideas to help you all in your quest to #workingfromhome.

15.01.2022 For all those who are #workingfromhome, this is a great article. We highly recommend you download the straighten up app to help in your quest to limit the issues caused by sitting for long periods.

13.01.2022 COVID 19 UPDATE, Season 2, Episode 4. It was been a frustrating 3 days trying to get clarification as a profession along with all allied health workers as to what businesses can remain open in Stage 4. Finally we have the news that Chiropractors can remain OPEN.... An updated statement from the Department of Health and Human services (DHHS) states, "all AHPRA registered health workers can provide services that prevent significant change/degeneration in functional independence" So over the next 5.5 weeks, Longbeach chiropractic will remain open for essential appointments only. All routine checkup appointments need to be rescheduled. Things for you as the patient to consider: * All patients who have an appointment scheduled will be contacted and their needs discussed so we can determine if your treatment is essential. * Any patient needing an appointment please ring us, leaving a message if necessary * You will be required to wear a mask, have your temperature taken and wash your hands on arrival, and maintain social distancing whilst in the practice. * You are permitted to travel to us even if you live further than 5km from the practice as you are attending an essential medical appointment. We thank our Longbeach family for your wonderful support and patience. We send our best wishes out to you all as you all navigate this difficult time. Remember to spend some time on your physical and mental health every day by eating well, exercising, getting some sun and fresh air, and doing something you love. 10.01.2022 COVID19 UPDATE , Season 2, episode 94. RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN EASED Following the announcements from the Premier today, as of Monday 28th of September, there will be an easing of restrictions for all registered Allied Health practitioners.... "Chiropractors can provide care to their patients when: 1. there is likely to be a deterioration in the patient's physical or mental health if they do not receive chiropractic care in the next four weeks. 2. the patient has an acute injury or chronic flareup of significant nature. " We understand the last 8 weeks has been very difficult and frustrating for all of you as we have tried to navigate the restrictions to our service as best as we can. These changes should make it easier to receive the care you need. We here at Longbeach are so grateful for your patience and understanding. We are here Longbeach family to help you in any way we can. #nearlythere #stagefourlockdown #Thiswillendsoon #melbourne #carrum #getadjusted #chiro #endoftherainbow #sunshine #longbeachchiropractic

09.01.2022 Hope you are all doing ok out there in COVID19 land. It appears we are doing well as a community and our efforts to #stayathome and #flattenthecurve are paying dividends. At Longbeach Chiropractic we have refined our new procedures. It appears that completely closing is unlikely now, and we will endeavour to continue to provide the best care we possibly can. One wonderful observation of the last month is the fact that most people are moving/exercising more regularly. Some exa...mples are: * Gardening. The gardeners are going wild. Such a good form of exercise if done with moderation, and great to be out in the fresh air and sunshine. Remember to stretch before and after and limit yourself to a few hours a day. * Walking. The paths are crowded. The beaches are open to exercise again in both Kingston and Frankston so take advantage. The dog will love you. Remember to wear good shoes and stay off the hard concrete as much as possible. * Bike riding. Again, it is mad out there. Explore the river, wetlands or pen link track. Do as a family activity. Get advice on bike set up if it has been a while. * Yoga/pliates on line. There is so much online and most for free. A great introduction or to continue from your regular classes that have been cancelled. 30 minutes of even light exercise a day will assist both physical and mental health. Most of us have more time and can create new healthy habits that will stay with us well after this crisis is over. You can do it by yourself if you need some space, or with family or one friend. This is the 'silver lining' we have seen at Longbeach in the last month. Lets hope you have all found some positive out of this tumultuous time. #stayathome #flattenthecurve #keepmoving #chiropractic #getadjsuted #straightenup #longbeachchiropractic

08.01.2022 Using your laptop whilst #workingfromhome is Longbeach chiropractics number one enemy at the moment. #stayathome #workingfromhome #longbeachchiropractic

08.01.2022 Our lovely red door is unlocked for the first time in 10 weeks. This is a wonderful step in our journey back to normal. 07.01.2022 LONGBEACH COVID-19 UPDATE. We are thinking of all our valued clients and their families at this very stressful time. We hope you are staying fit and well both physically and emotionally. At this stage we are still open. We are constantly taking into account advice from the Australian government and Chiropractors Association of Australia.... Dr Narrelle is away on her honeymoon so not available this week for appointments. Anyone in need of treatment can ring the practice for recommendations of local chiros that can help. Lyn and our amazing ladies at reception are in the practice as usual. Following on from our update on Wednesday 18th of March, here are some further changes we are implementing: *Of course, most importantly, we are screening patients and staff daily. If you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms, been in contact with a confirmed case, or travelled overseas in the last 14days, please stay home and seek medical advice. *We are continuing our stringent cleaning routines. *We request that only those booked in for appointments enter the clinic. *Please DO NOT enter the practice prior to your appointment time as we are trying to limit the number of people in the building at one time to the bare minimum. You can wait in your car and we can call you, or in the front yard in our sunny waiting room if necessary. *Please wash your hands prior to arriving for your appointment, or use your own supply of sanitiser. In addition, we are opening a walk up window service for Lyns patients to pickup their requirements. You can ring and order and pay over the phone, come to the reception window or front door and have your order passed out to you. This again will eliminate the need for you to enter the practice. Posting of orders is also still available of course. We want to ensure you that we will continue on providing the best care we can within all the guidelines set. We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate our way through these constantly changing times. We wish yourself and families good health. Yours Dr Narrelle, Lyn, Wendy, Teresa and Nicola.

06.01.2022 Tonight to mark the end of week one of stage 4 COVID lockdown, we are setting you all a little challenge. Dr Narrelle has been out exploring within a 5km radius of home on foot and bike (of course), often with her wonderful Longbeach 25year reusable cup. These photos are an example of how lucky we are and how easy it is to get fresh air, sunshine and lots of great exercise whilst still complying with all the rules in our local area. It is so important we all get out to aid bo...th physical and mental health. So Longbeach family, we want to see your photos! There is a PRIZE!!! You just need to follow these three rules. 1. You must be out and about, ideally getting fresh air and a good dose of exercise. 2. Must include reusable/takeaway cup/waterbottle in the photo. Extra points awarded if you are the lucky owner of collectable 25th birthday Longbeach chiropractic cup! 3. You must adhere to all stage 4 rules including wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, one hour in total and within 5 km of your home. You have a week. Post your photo in comments below. 04.01.2022 Well worth a look for anyone working or studying at home.

04.01.2022 In light of some states shutting down non-essential services, the Federal Health Minister has confirmed that ALL allied health businesses nationally can conti...nue working and are encouraged to do so. The Minister has also indicated that the Australian Government Department of Health is now developing full allied health telehealth options, along with other health and medical services, within the week. This will be part of a staged plan and he encourages providers to continue vital face-to-face services where possible. The ACA represents the chiropractic profession as a member of Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA), who are currently liaising with the Department of Health regarding this development and will be meeting with the Department shortly to discuss details for allied health items.
