07.01.2022 It’s with great sadness and gratitude that I inform all my Facebook followers, travelers, friends and family that Roam Like Queens Women’s Travel is no longer v...iable given the lengthy international travel restrictions in place and the financial losses incurred. Thanks to all the fabulous women who came on my tours over the last 17 years. It was my delight to show you a good time and to help create special memories. I’m missing the great adventures we took together, the laughter, the stories and more than anything, watching the awe in your eyes. Big thanks to my super tour assistants/sisters Cat Wilson and Julie Paterson...you know you added another level of fun, discussion and discovery...SHUKRAN OHTI. 07.01.2022 This is where it all began, the Fes Medina, Morocco. There I was, 2010 and growing into a new life direction, throwing myself into learning a new language, tes...ting and tasting a journey in North Africa. One day, after a particularly gruelling language lesson I took myself off for a big wander in the Medina to unfuzz my brain. I needed to get delightfully lost. Along the maze like way the smell of spiced coffee beckoned. In a little restaurant I found a seat that afforded me a view onto the busy street where I quietly watched it's daily local interactions. I was in deep fascination and awe of this magnificent, ancient city, it's textures, it's history, it's people and the secrets and mysteries`that seemed to want to ooze from it's beautiful, ancient walls. As I sipped the warmth and mellowness of spice in my coffee, I knew then that my coffee ritual would change forever. Chasing local brews (and great adventures!) in North Africa became my life and passion for years to come. Smell and memory, for me, are beautifully paired, and to this day still transport me. The creation of "5 Canaries" is inextricably linked to that heady memory in the Ancient Medina of Fes.
