22.01.2022 LETTER By MARY DROST' OAM TO THE EDITOR WHICH WAS PRINTED IN FRIDAY's AGE NEWSPAPER Disgraceful that Melbourne Water plans to see off land for yet more development. We all understand that the more people they keep packing into our city the more open space we need not less. Does the government want to pack us all into high rise everywhere, all the trees gone and no open space anywhere. We are appealing to the Planning Minister to say NO to yet more open space being cov...ered with concrete and glass and thousands more people. We should be growing urban forests not destroying trees. The story in the AGE today talks about 4 pieces of land but there is another one and that is South East Water wanting to sell off land in Mt Eliza. T his land must not be developed as it is an important area for the fast disappearing wildlife on the Peninsula. If this keeps going we will have no wildlife left which would be a tragedy. Stop selling off land. Mary Drost Convenor Planning BAcklash Inc 34 Prospect Hill Road Camberwell 3124 9882 4453 0401 834 899

19.01.2022 Oh yes, I also have to drive cancer patients up to the city hospitals for treatment as Peninsula Transport Network charges quite a lot of money to do what Red Cross did for FREE. Also if you are a patient of the Bays Hospital, you get to be driven to and from the hospital for free by the new free transport service.

19.01.2022 Dear all, The new aquatic centre in Rosebud is selecting a new name but requires a majority vote. Unfortunately, the majority of votes to date are continuing to neglect the use of an Indigenous name. Respecting Indigenous Culture by naming an exciting Peninsula landmark with a meaninful Boon wurrung word during the current societal focus on 'Black Lives Matter' conveniently reflects the spirit of the times. ... Deadline: 5pm Thursday 9 July 2020 WEBSITE TO FOLLOW THE PROMPTS: https://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au//Have-Your-Say-Vote-for-you Making a nomination allows you to go into the draw to win a family swim pass. Much appreciated.

10.01.2022 Dear South Eastern Centre for Sustainability members and supporters, Please take note of Mechelle Cheers email to us below: Below is a link to a ban jet skis from Rye to Point Nepean National Park petition. The petition has been started because as you probably know huge numbers of jet skis are now launching from Rye - a ratio of 15 jet skis to 1 boat this summer. All most people want is a safe and pleasant day on the beach.... The noise and the dangerous hooning made the front beach and the Pier a nightmare to be on or near. Let alone what was happening out on the water & further down near Point Nepean and the marine sanctuary. They terrorised the dolphins and caused damage to seagrass habitat. Imagine what it is going to be like when MPSCouncil expands the Rye facilities to meet structural requirements for Rye to become a regional boating and jet ski facility - true! If you agree with what we are doing, please share with as many people as possible, including any groups you may belong to, as we will need a lot of signatures, for the Premier to take notice of us. If people want the boundary for banning jet skis extended please ask them to sign the petition and put the relevant town etc in the comment section. We will include this information in what we present to the Premier. 09.01.2022 We must stick together on this one: Call for wildlife sanctuary on Sir Reginald Ansett’s former estate Christian Tatman, Mornington Peninsula Leader May 27, 2018 12:00am... ENVIRONMENTALISTS want the last remaining pocket of Sir Reginald Ansett’s estate, a prime 22ha beachfront block on the Mornington Peninsula, preserved as a wildlife habitat. The vacant block, which belongs to the RM Ansett Trust, has been for sale via a long-running expression of interest process, and expected to net well over $40 million. But South Eastern Centre for Sustainability president Steve Karakitsos said it was vital the land remain undeveloped, and preserved as it was. The community wants it maintained. It should not be developed, he said. OPINION: HOW SIR REG FORGED HIS EMPIRE http://www.heraldsun.com.au//7c5e9dc8bc7ee12e9fdadfad87a4f PENINSULA PAD SOARS CRAZY $1 MILLION PAST RESERVE https://www.realestate.com.au//mt-eliza-home-soars-1m-pa/ The trust supports programs that help young people in remembrance of Sir Reginald and wants to sell the land to fund initiatives supporting children and young people. Equity Trustees managing director Mick O’Brien said the Expression of Interest process launched late last year was still underway. Proposals that are being assessed are confidential at this stage so we cannot disclose details, except to that we received a good number of high quality proposals which have been short-listed, he said. Sir Reg’s former estate has extensive water frontage. Sir Reginald’s express purpose in establishing a philanthropic trust was ‘assisting children to take their place in life’. Part of the former Ansett land was bought in 2006 by retirement village operator Chas Jacobsen for a then state record price of $14.5 million. Mr Jacobsen told the Leader he hadn’t bought the Ansett land at this stage but declined to comment. Mornington state MP David Morris said it was essential any future use of the site was in accordance with its green wedge zoning.

03.01.2022 Gig on the Green sponsored by Rymans to be held Saturday 2 Feb 2019 2-8pm all are welcome to explain why five storey buildings on a Green Wedge beyond urban growth zone, is a NO NO. Enjoy the music while talking to friendly muso's why Rymans shouldn't be trying to buy good will by sponsoring youth activities when Rymans are after the millionaire retirees that undoubtedly live in Mt Eliza village! Bit hypocritical and underhand by this NZ based profit driven retirement settlement developer.
