21.01.2022 Started my day in the Hunter Valley with the objective of exploring Maitland and other historic regional Hunter River towns ,ALSO in search of a decent Coffee ...& Brunch and a bit of civilised country hospitality!? Luckily I received a tip-off about @the Cunning Cullinarian..(located in High Street,MAITLAND)) and I was pleasantly surprised by the understated style and sophistication of this beautifully furnished and decorated space ,..and Alina's professionalism and attention to detail ,..I kind of felt like I was in one of my old haunts in Notting Hill Gate or Chelsea,London..come to think of it,..kind of understated Luxury,..Had a lovely chat about the Restaurant and Food scene and compared notes ,..and tasted some great The Little Marionette COFFEE and some delicious "Corn Fritters with Bacon & Avocado served with Relish" ,..which "really hit the spot!" Not surprising that this Cafe/Restaurant and Providores (Did I mention they do Cooking Classes?) has such a community following....(They were providing Free soup during the Covid Lockdown) They also have an in house Floral Artist ,..Well done,..This place is really civilised and delicious Home baked Cakes and Pastries too,.I am going back for the Strawberry and Rhubarb Upside down Cake with whipped cream sometime soon!..But I was reluctant to leave as they hey have some interesting Cookbooks available for "Foodie inspiration",..and a great team of charming and professional staff -and they are all passionate about their work. without which you cant have such amazing attention to detail,..which I always find mesmerizing,..What a Gem,..-All this in Maitland ,...sometimes you can strike it lucky!
